Really crappy food, extremely expensive for no apparent reason. I ordered dinner and they threw in all these extra charges without warning.

Authentic Flavor of Punjab 4/14/2006

Ambala Dhaba really makes you think you are eating home made India food. The decor has the feel of a village in Punjab. They have all varieties of curries, breads and rice. The lunch plate costs only around 5 to 6 dollars and is very filling. The place is usually crowded with students from UCLA and is open late on Friday and Saturday nights. There is very limited parking and you may have to park on the street. If you are in the mood for cheap and good quality Indian food, this is the place. more

Delicious Authentic Indian Cuisene at a Price 11/1/2005

The food here is simply delicious. The food ranges covers many different traditional Indian meals and plates; included are rices, curries, chicken, lamb, potato dishes, and of course naan bread. The menu is quite extensive and covers practically every and any hunger and taste desire. Also, they have many different flavors of milk shakes including pistachio, almond, and the delicious mango milk shake. Along with your order you do receive pickled carrots and several different chutneys. Beware because some of these can easily be considered too spicy for some diners. However, I found them all delicious. The unfortunate aspect of the restaurant is the prices. They are not as low as they once were. And even worse, the traditional flat naan bread (a must for any Indian cuisene) nor a bowl of rice come complimentary along with any order. They are separate side orders that are charged. Now this isn't to say that the restaurant is now expensive. It is still in the low price range, seeing that most plates fall between the price of eight and thirteen dollars. Portions are midsized and several plates should be ordered and shared among a group, small or large. However, overall the food is delicious and worthy of at least one trip by any. more
