Best

I have been lucky enough to travel a lot with business and have eaten in many a restaurant in many cities...

Worst

The food is great, but the service is just O.K. Someone needs to remind the waitstaff to come back down to earth. It is as if the waitstaff is too snobby and not enough about ...

A sad echo of its former self. 12/16/2002

The food is still generally outstanding. The new space is larger and ""colder"", with a claustrophobic bar. The service can be stunningly bad. The original staff was warm, friendly, unobtrusive, with that sixth-sense great waiters posess. But last year I waited TWENTY MINUTES with my lunch date, as our waiter, who was only servicing 3 tables, swooshed by us repeatedly. Finally stopped him. Me: ""were you ever planning to serve us?"" He: ""sorry, I didn't see you two"". Amazing. Trying again some months later, I got unsmiling, abrupt service, but at least got served. An insider admits ""it was a real problem initially"" finding quality staff for the larger place. Well, its still a problem. What a shame. Go for the food. And if you do go, get seats at the bar with Paul Brown. He's terrific, and you'll understand immediately why we raved about the old WG. Pros: Food, Bartenders Cons: Service, Service, Service more

Best food I've had in years 12/9/2002

Fantastic! Everything we tried off the menu was incredible. We like to eat out a lot, and too often a restaurant will have just a few things that look really good. At the Wild Ginger, I had a hard time deciding, since everything sounded so good. And eating family style, I was able to try many different dishes. Absolutely outstanding, particularly for the price. We also enjoyed great service, from a very helpful waiter. And excellent martini's. What more could you ask for in a dining experience. Just so I'm not all rose-colored glasses...the place was Huge, but they did a good job not making you feel like a number. Pros: The food is tops., Martinis, great service Cons: huge place more

good food incredible service 11/19/2002

Some of the best service I have had at a restaurant. Friendly, near by when needed and knowledgeable. The food was very good. I recommend the catfish. This restaurant is a must. more

growler 10/29/2002

Love the place for mood and food...price is reasonable for the location and ambiance. Make a reservation!!! Cons: parking can be a prob more

exotic dining 10/24/2002

Very pleasant experience and lots of choices. Made up a nice tasting menu with multiple choices. All well prepared but, what should have been spicy was ""toned down"". All in all, very enjoyable, but one of the best? Pros: well prepared, exotic choices, inexpensive Cons: low key or dingy?, definitely crowded, "spicy" wasn't more

Trapped 10/23/2002

I can't get mad at a place for being busy, but when you valet park somewhere with nothing else around you're stuck waiting. We were told the wait would be 45 minutes to an hour; it took close to two hours. If that wasn't bad enough they got short with me about it. Rude hostess, rude waiter, and rude bus boy. I won't be going back any time soon. Stick to Belltown. Pros: bartender Cons: crowded, waiting time, rude more

Will Never Go Back! 10/19/2002

While the old location was great, we had a terrible service experience and will never go back. Beware of the ""last-minute reservation"". We were told that we had a ""15-minute wait"" after 3 or 4 intervals and were seated after over 75 minutes due to error. Coupled with a host staff with an embarrassingly poor attitude & mediocre food...we'll never go back. Pros: hip atmosphere Cons: terrible service, mediocre food more

Wild Ginger paging waitstaff... 9/16/2002

Though I've enjoyed this place in the past prior to it's move up the street, the noisy setting now has about as much ambience as the international departures lounge at JFK. Though the wait staff out numbered diners two-to-one at a recent delicious though expensive weekend lunch, we managed to work up quite an appetite continually flagging down and searching out anyone who would notice our table for such things as menus, drinks, food, water, check and change. more

One of the Best! 9/13/2002

This is one of my favorite restaurants. Great food, good atmosphere and very friendly and knowledgeable serving staff - this is one of THE great dining experiences that I have had. Comparable to the Grill Room in the old Hong Kong Hilton, Nicos at 90 Park Lane in London or Le Manoir aux Quatre Saisons in the Cotswalds. Highly recommended. Pros: outstanding food more

get wild 9/5/2002

wild ginger beats out the met, by far... awesome food and what a hip cool place to be seen. Pros: food, service more

Nice place, but could be better 8/27/2002

Unfinished industrial looking ceiling is so passe, it's a pity since overall decor is kind of nice. Food was very good but not excellent. Wandering Sage Soup was lukewarm and lacked the taste backbone even with optional chili sauce, Papaya Salad was refreshing but a bit boring. Lamb bubu.. something (curry) was nice, it could have been more saucy though. Service was friendly and very nice, with one exception... don't you *ever* interrupt our conversation asking ""is everything okay?"". Pros: Service Cons: Passe Decor, Food, Noisy more

Blah, Boring, Uninspiring 8/27/2002

I'd say I don't get it, but I do: nobody would go here if they had to be invisible. That's cool, but don't let it taint the way you judge the atmosphere, the food, and the price. Easily the worst Asian food value I can think of in the city... and for those times when it's worth spending the money, do it somewhere else. Every time I've been to the Ginger I left shrugging and wondering if I could get those hours back. Pros: easy parking nearby Cons: location more

Great for groups big and small 8/13/2002

We love Wild Ginger for bringing out of town guests and can't wait to try it for an intimate dinner on a Monday night for the wonderful jazz. more

An old favorite 8/12/2002

I admit it, I'm a native Wisconsinite. I only get to Seattle once or twice a year, but never miss at least a lunch at the Wild Ginger. The new place is very nice, but after having visited the old one for over nine years, it will take a while to get comfortable with the new surroundings. Pros: wonderful variety, great decor more

Romantic 7/29/2002

The ambience in the restaurant was very romantic and comforting; the bartender even served us a new blend of martini. The whole experience was awesome! more

The best Mango Daiquiri's 7/28/2002

If you like mango's then you will definitely want to try the mango daiquiri's. They taste like you are drinking fresh mango juice. Pros: easy access, spacious, friendly atmosphere Cons: none, none, none more

Out-of-Town Guests? 7/23/2002

Wild Ginger is a great place for bringing out-of-town guests. I simply ask the waiter to bring out a selection for us. I usually ask for a specific dish or two to be included. They ask the table guests what level of spice is appropriate and all I have to do is order wine. They even help me select that. I haven't been disappointed yet. The amount of food served has been perfect for our number of guests every time. It makes the selection process simple and the enjoyment of tasting a selection of food is a great dining experience for our guests. It really doesn't cost more per person to do this. Pros: variety, valet parking more

BIG letdown 7/19/2002

I visited the other night after hearing mixed reviews and saw first hand why most people in Seattle dislike this place. After a rude person at the front desk finally sat us, we were approached by a ""Captain"" whose apparent job is to belittle my choice of wine. Our server was nice and informative enough for us to have a nice meal, but every few mintues this ""Captain"" showed up to interupt our meal. The food was good, but not good enough to justify the price. The space is cavernous and an intimate table does not exist. Pros: Speedy food, Domestic wines Cons: Impersonal, "Canned service", Too expensive more

Excellent 6/27/2002

I don't know why people are complaining so much about this place. It's wonderful. I've gone to Wild Ginger for lunch multiple times, and tonight I went there for dinner for the first time. We had 6:00 reservations, and even though the place was packed, we were taken right to our seat. Our waiter was wonderful, food was excellent (and we had plenty of leftovers, ordered an appetizer and 2 main courses). Didn't have to wait long for our food considering how packed they were. Excellent meal for 2 people for under $60 (with drinks). I'd definitely go there again!! Pros: Great Food, Reasonably priced, friendly service Cons: parking isn't free more

Overrated! 6/20/2002

This restaurant is soooo overrated. You're paying to be seen and hang out in the hip atmosphere. Some of the dishes are VERY good. Some are VERY not good. They are all VERY expensive. Save about 75% and go somewhere like Noodle Ranch. Also, the table we were seated at had chairs which made me feel like we were doing a shoot for Low Rider magazine. I'm over 6' tall and could barely get up to the table. Pros: Occassional good dish Cons: expensive, expensive, overrated more
