Best

I have been lucky enough to travel a lot with business and have eaten in many a restaurant in many cities...

Worst

The food is great, but the service is just O.K. Someone needs to remind the waitstaff to come back down to earth. It is as if the waitstaff is too snobby and not enough about ...

Wild Ginger -- Don't Go! 10/3/2003

I have eaten at Wild Ginger three times in the past ten months, and after three strikes, they are definately out. Each time I had reservations (for 3, 4 and 6) on weeknights & a weekend. Despite arriving early, it took an average of 25 minutes to seat my party, with the last time (6 people) being the longest: they had checked us in, then seated another party under our name, forcing us to wait again with scarcely and apology. I have sampled about 10 items from their menu, and always felt ripped off by the quantity of the food, in addition to the food actually being rather bland! In addition to that, our servers have always been bad to actually rude! Finally, if you are a smoker, definately bail on Wild Ginger, as their smoking section is comprised of the downstairs bar, which is overcroweded and very smoky! Pros: decor Cons: bad service, mediocre food, smoking area crowded more

Why bother... 9/16/2003

The only times I have been to Wild Ginger is when friends are in town and they really want to go there. Each time I have been very dissapointed. One can get a better dinner in the International District for half the price and be treated like a real person! The people at the Wild Ginger have always been condenscending and borderline rude. more

Needs more Asian Soul 8/6/2003

Boasted as the spot for gourmet pan-asian food in Seattle, it's a shame that WG knows so little about asian food. I've never expected it to be authentic, but it's definitely slipped in quality over the years. At my latest visit, I was sad to see my favorite dish - the fragrant duck - is no longer what it used to be - instead it's dry and overdone. The restaurant seems to have outgrown itself. Fortunately, despite the snobby hostesses, the service we've experienced has always been excellent. Even so, I don't think I'll go back again and will be looking a for a new place to bring out of towners. Pros: service Cons: No soul more

Terrific food, great service, I love WG! 5/29/2003

I've been to Wild Ginger a half dozen times in the last six months and I've never been disappointed. The food is terrific has always been very attentive. (Lunches a tiny bit less due to the huge rushes.) We took some relatives there Monday night and the server took good care of us, helping us with our menu choices and making sure nothing was made too spicy. The Mango pork is suprisingly tender, the 7 flavor beef had wonderful flavor and although the sage soup is very light the wontons are so tasty. If you go for lunch you can't miss out on the 7 Elements curry. It is so yummy. Pros: Tasty food, Great service, Many menu choices Cons: Can be noisy, Food often very spicy more

DA Bomb! 4/25/2003

The Bomb!! Absolutely Marvelous! Would recommend to anyone. Prompt seating, excellent food, good customer service! :) more

Woderful food, value and service 3/28/2003

Wild Ginger is my favorite restaurant in Seattle. There are many wonderful dishes including the Sate's with their accompanying crunchy cucumber pickles, Duck, Tuna Bruschetta and the Sechuan Green Beans. The service is always professional including the removal and replacement of used silverware after each course. The servers are all very experienced, lending their expertise without being intrusive. The value is quite good for an establishment of this caliber. I credit the continued innovative food and great service year after year to owner Rick Yoder who is always present and ever watchful over his gem of an eating establishment. Pros: professional service, innovative food, good value Cons: noisy more

Scrumptous! 2/15/2003

Perfect Cosmopolitan! Exquisite Pot-Stickers Seven Flavor Beef melts in your mouth Wonton Soup pretty bland Forget eating without reservations on Friday or Saturday after 5pm. Pros: Drinks, Appetizers Cons: WonTon Soup more

OUTSTANDING 1/26/2003

It has been almost 2 years but this restaurant is as good as I remember. Excellent variety of dishes, good wine list and great service. Pros: Ambience, Value, Great Food more

Great food marginal service 1/26/2003

The food is great, but the service is just O.K. Someone needs to remind the waitstaff to come back down to earth. It is as if the waitstaff is too snobby and not enough about taking care of the guest. I have eaten here three times and always been impressed with the food and never with the service. Pros: Great Food, Beautiful Atmosphere Cons: Losy service more

Boo! to W. Ginger 1/24/2003

Please don't go to Wild Ginger. There are so many restaurants with the same quality of food that have so much more to offer as far as a dining experience. Take it from a native Seattleite and a concierge. The staff has no concept of customer service and it is a real shame. I wouldn't post this if it was an isolated incident, but I hear the same thing time and again. Great food, horrible service. People leave feeling like their patronage was not appreciated. Maybe the idea is that a good meal seems even better after being made to feel inferior? more

Flirting with the abyss 1/14/2003

I'm trying to still love the Wild Ginger as I did before, but it's slowly pushing me away. Service has slipped on my last two visits, with the staff not being very helpful or knowledgable about the food. What arrived at the table is always great, but sometimes members of our party got their entrees 10 minutes later than the rest of the table, a promised dish never appeared...small slips that can ruin an otherwise remarkable meal. The curries are great, the fragrant duck is always a favorite, and can easily be ordered as an extra entree to be shared with the table or even an appetizer. Unlike most Asian restaurants, the desserts are not to be missed. Pros: Fragrant Duck, Desserts, Great ambience Cons: Dumb waiter more

PAY A LOT, GET A LOT (ATTITUDE THAT IS)! 1/13/2003

New Year's Eve 2002. Reservation at 10 PM. Friends and drinks. A good time to be had in most situations... except at the WG. -Rudely greeted by hostess at the door. -Didn't get seated until 10:45 PM...even with reservations. -Smoking at bar a big turn-off (It was the smoke at the bar or face waiting in the cold and rain outside while waiting for a seat). -Evening got better once seated. Waiter was attentive and the food was surprisingly good; not earth-shattering, but good. -If the WG ever gets around to hodling ettiquette classes for most of the staff it has the potential to be a really good restaurant. Pros: A few good waiters, Good drink menu Cons: Rude staff, Spartan dining room, Smaking at bar more

Snobby $7/hr Glorified Seat Sitters! 1/9/2003

The staff is the snobbiest bunch ever. I actually liked some of the food, but I stopped going 'cause I got tired of the 'tude. Please. There are plenty of good restaurants in the vicinity....Fleming's for steak (DownTown), Typhoon(near the waterfront) for Thai, Top Gun (Itnl District) for Chinese. I've eaten everywhere and these places ROCK! Pros: Eye Candy, Duck is Good Cons: Snobby Hosts, SLOWWWW more

Not So Wild Ginger 1/6/2003

Ate at the new Ginger for the first time in years(Don't get to the ""big city"" much!) and left feeling ambivalent about the food and service. Our waiter demanded respect.. he told us what to order, frowned on our choices and didn't want to listen to our lady friend deciding on entrees.. ""Keep them wimminfolk hushed now."" However, once we understood he was in charge we got relatively good service. The food was less bold than the old Ginger. Satay was excellent, clams were OK, Tuna bruschetta could have been more flavorful. The duck app was very good, the chicken entree was good. The peas and mushroom plate was average. Desserts were a weak afterthought to the menu. It was a satisfactory experience in a comfortable enviroment. Very busy at 4.30pm on a Sunday. If only our waiter had allowed us to order noodles! Oh well, next time. Pros: good food, nice enviroment Cons: bossy waiter, not so spicy more

Always Excellent 1/6/2003

Wild Ginger is one of the best restaurants in Seattle. The food is always excellent, the service is prompt and courteous, and the environment is pleasing. It may be difficult to get a table, but the experience is well worth the wait. Don't miss the vegetable satays (great appetizers) or the scallops. more

Fabulous 1/5/2003

I was visiting Seattle and found Wild Ginger on City Search. I'm skeptical about the reviews on here, but thought I would give it a try anyway. My date and I decided to have a meal of appertizers, the tuna bruschetta was incredible! I can't wait to go visit Seattle and Wild Ginger again! Pros: Great Bar Area, Good City views Cons: Dirty Bathrooms more

Lively Asian Food 1/2/2003

Boisterous restaurant: crowded and bustling and noisy. Food is delicious and well-prepared: don't forget to order the vegetables--TASTY!! Order the small plates and prepare to feast! more

Tried & True 12/31/2002

The city's infatuation w/ WG seems to have faded over the years, but this is still one of my favorite restaurants. The constant quality of certain dishes pulls me in at least once a month. Yes, quite a bit of the menu smacks of bad Americanized take out, but a few outstanding dishes keep me coming back time and again. Compare PF Chang's horrid chicken lettuce cups to Wild Ginger's heavenly fish cups and you'll become a true believer. Service? A+!!! The bartender may only see you twice a year, but he remembers your face and gives a warm greeting every time! Pros: Service Cons: Table wait time more

Awsome!@ 12/20/2002

I can't believe people have given this place a 6.6 rating. Makes me wonder if someone isn't trying to hurt thier reputation. We absolutely love this place. The flavors are amazing and we've always enjoyed great service. The only problem is they are too busy and a little expensive for the portions. I highly recommend only going when you have a reservation and stay out of the bar (unless you are single). Be sure to try the Seven Flavor Beef and the Kung Pao Chicken. more

Best kept secret bar 12/18/2002

The bar sells the same food as at the tables, but without the wait or extras. The soups are a real deal for under $5 and everything is excellent. Drinks are okay but the bartenders quite entertaining. more
