Best

I have been lucky enough to travel a lot with business and have eaten in many a restaurant in many cities...

Worst

The food is great, but the service is just O.K. Someone needs to remind the waitstaff to come back down to earth. It is as if the waitstaff is too snobby and not enough about ...

""americanized"" taste and presentation - euro service 10/14/2006

If you want watered down taste - this is your place. If you want more authentic taste of whatever\r your ordering go elsewhere. If your stuck on pretense - you'll be kinda happy here. Actually this place cannot even get pretentiousness right - Its like seattle wannabe New York-esque pretense. I mean, either be pretentious and exclusive (which would neccesitate really good food) and do it right - or just be warm and inviting like the region we live in; or jet off to Tokyo, HK and Bagkok\r frequently like I do - haute, haute !!! Pros: The design is cool Cons: all else more

Can't Wait to Go Back 9/28/2006

I finally had a chance to try this Seattle classic - and now understand why it is consistently rated one of the city's top restaurants. We dropped in before going to the symphony (it is right across the street from Benaroya) and were seated immediately at the satay bar. I was extremely pleased with the service; our waiter was very aware of the time constraints of the symphony crowd, took our order promptly, and was attentive throughout the meal. The food was fantastic. When I return (which I definitely will) I will order the Seven Flavor Beef again - the mix of flavors was outstanding. Prawn satay is a good choice. Kung Pao Chicken = average. Price is reasonable. Atmosphere is spacious yet inviting. Pros: Food. Service. more

loved the food, wanted to strangle the waiter 8/9/2006

I had the monk curry and loved it! It was the perfect amount of spices, mixed with nuts, tofu, and veggies. The only thing was the waiter was extremely condescending, not letting my friend order what she wanted (pad thai with ONLY chicken, he seemed to think she would be paying too much for such simplicity), and making me feel like an idiot when I asked how they made gluten. So come into this restraunt expecting great food and attentive service, but bring your patience as well! more

Awful service and mediocre food. 8/9/2006

The waiter was cold and standoffish. After we ordered he didnt visit the table once and we had to call someone else to get our bill. The food was exactly what you would get at a PF Changs with a markup for a downtown location. We decided to try some curries and signature dishes on the menu but they lacked flavor and the potions were tiny. If you are looking for authentic ethnic food or just a bit of flavor, this is not the place for you. Cons: Ambiance, Service, VALUE more

Still so Good 7/23/2006

After so many years, Wild Ginger is still one the best places to dine in Seattle.\r \r Fragrant Satay's and expertly prepared vegatables along with a very thorogh wine list guarantee a great meal. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly.\r \r This place is always one of my first stops when I'm in town. Pros: Satay, Vegetable dishes, wine list Cons: 90's Interior more

Everything was good! 7/16/2006

This is one to try! The menu has a huge selection- mostly known for their satay- that could satisfy most people. We started with the scallops and ground lamb satays and then seabass lettuce cups...each unique from the other and delicious. We also ordered some noodles and seven flovor beef as entrees- Yum! The flavors are wonderful, presentation was pleasing and the service was very good. I'd like to go again next time I'm in Seattle. Pros: Selection, Flavors, Atmosphere Cons: Loud more

Best scallops in town! 6/12/2006

I've been going to Wild Ginger for a few years now and without a doubt, know they serve the best black pepper scallops in town. The service is excellent and highly recommend sitting in the bar taking recommendations of the bartenders and servers. If you ever have the chance to sit in Elena's section, consider yourself lucky! She is the best server in Seattle. Pros: service, taste more

User review by rusche 5/23/2006

Just celebrated a friend's birthday there and had a great time. As usual the floorstaff was accomodating and unobtrusive and very well versed on the menu. We had a couple of picky eaters and our service person was attentive & made helpful comments! The prixe fix menu, especially the Dragon is the best deal in town costwise and flavorwise as well. There is a great variety of wll prepared and presented food. Definitely a place not to miss. Pros: Great food, Excellent serive more

Avoid Wild Ginger 5/2/2006

This used to be a fun place to go so I decided to throw a small party here recently. The food was horrible, scarce and cold. The service was even worse. They overcharged for what they did serve and all of us left hungry. I will never spend another dime at this restaurant again. Pros: Location Cons: Overrated food, Horrible service, Over priced more

The rip-off 4/16/2006

The food has nothing special: no taste, too cooked. The atmosphere is noisy and fake yuppie. The waiters are pretentious. The check is the cherry! In other words, if you want to be ripped-off, Wild Ginger is the place! more

Good drinks, overrated food 3/7/2006

I went to Wild Ginger for lunch and had a pretty good time. Not great, but nice. I most likely will not go there again unless someone else is paying as I thought the food was very over priced. Everything that I ate I had ordered for more than half the price from take-out restaurants. The service was average. The drinks were very good. I recommand going there for drinks and going somewhere cheaper or more exotic for food. Pros: Drinks Cons: Over priced food, Over rated food more

Best of the best! 2/26/2006

This is, in my opinion, the best restaurant in Seattle. I haven't had a dish I haven't liked - and my boyfriend and I have been there several times, and go with the recommended tactic of ordering a few appetizers to share and then one entree (portions are of regular size, not the super-American-huge size so many diners are accustomed to). The service is great - attentive, friendly and accomodating - and the wine recommendations always complement the food perfectly! Seattle has a lot of restaurants with great Asian cuisine, but Wild Ginger is the best of the best! If you're looking for a romantic evening, try a two-top upstairs! Pros: Amazing food, friendly service, good atmosphere Cons: Some items pricey more

yuck-o 2/25/2006

I moved here from Denver 3 years ago and can not believe how bad the asian food here is in general. I would not recommend this place, unless you like spending to much money on below fair/average asian food. more

good food not so good service 1/14/2006

The food is yummy, but the servers are less impressive. Too snotty, not polite, ok knowlege with wine pairing. I do love the mango sweet rice tho. Pros: decent price, good food Cons: bad servers, not intimate more

Can't beat Wild Ginger 12/6/2005

I come up from Portland every three months and always go here. Its a gem and I love it. My personal favorite is the Crispy Duck, which they serve with plum sauce and really good rolls. Can't wait to go back! Pros: Crispy Duck, Food Quality, Spacious Cons: Parking, Not Cheap more

A night to remember 11/9/2005

My wife and I recently came to Seattle to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. On the recommendation of our hotel concierge and several friends at home in NYC, we elected to dine at Wild Ginger on our last night in town. Upon our arrival, the charming and gorgeous hostess, Alyssa, graciously offered us an intimate booth. This came as much of a shock, as we had heard it is near impossible to get in without a reservation. Our service was superlative--both Eric, our server, and Chris, the sommelier, were equally charming and knowledgeable. Our food (lamb chops marinated in cognac, seared ahi) was nothing short of spectacular. My wife and I travel and dine out quite frequently, and Wild Ginger is now at the top of our list. We can't wait to come back to the Emerald City again to visit this rare gem. Pros: service staff, food, wine, spirits menu Cons: , no Manhattan location more

Great business lunch 11/7/2005

My favorite place to take clients. Service is always professional. My all time favorites are the seven flavor beef, black pepper scallops, and of course the schzechuan green beans. Beautiful place, can be loud at times, but my favorite lunch spot. more

Wild about Ginger 10/26/2005

I made a reservation during a birthday trip. Upon arriving, I was seated immediately and served efficiently. The food was spectacular, and truly Asian in authenticity. I had excellent chicken potstickers, along with prawns satay followed by a really spicy clam and basil dish, the spiciest I have had in America outside of any Chinese restaurant. Having recently returned from Thailand and Laos, and having previously visited Singapore and Hong Kong, I can say that this restaurant is the best American representative of Pan-Asian cuisine. Pros: Food, Service, Authenticity more

Wonderful Service & Great Food! 6/14/2005

This is by far one of my favorite restaurants in the city! Great food, great drinks, and wonderful service. It's spendy for panasian food, but worth every penny! The bar is great to. I have never had a bad experience here. Pros: yummy food, great service Cons: crowded more

Great food and service! 6/10/2005

Some of my friends and I stopped in last week for dinner but the dining room was full, so we added our names to their waitlist (trust me, it goes by fast!) The bar was full, so we sat in the lobby. The hostess, Lisa, took the time, when the lobby was over-crowded, to get us some drinks and to order some appetizers for us. After about 20 minutes, we were seated at a table by the window where Nicole was our waitress. She was so polite and helpful and gave us great suggestions (rice noodles with mussels, 7 spice beef and pork with mango, all to die for!). With such a busy restaurant, it was a nice surprise and a treat to receive such great service. Although the food was unforgettable, it is the service will keep us coming back! Thank you Wild ginger! Pros: Food, Service Cons: Smoking in Bar more
