First class Food and Service 2/19/2008

I have never experenced such attentive service and personal attention by the maitre di. Pros: Great service and Great Food Cons: Valet parking $6 more

avoid Sunday night 2/12/2008

This place currently has a lot of knockoffs, starting with the $6.00 fee for valet parking--made even more distasteful when you get the bill, you don't expect this place to be low cost, but it is E-X-P-E-N-S-I-V-E. That is bad enough, but the food is mediocre at best, especially at their prices. We had a lamb dish, (small, fatty chops), a veal dish, also mediocre, tough and overcooked, very small spinach salads, (spinach is cheap). Short pour drinks, server even warned of this due to whoever was on the bar that night. Bar prices were not ""short"" however. Service was on and off, with our server disappearing for long periods. When not offered fresh pepper for the salads, I hailed a guy carrying a pepper grinder, he made the ""oh for pete's sake, why are you bothering me"", as he put out the pepper as asked. Probably will skip this one in the future, there are many places around Denver that are much better and more reasonably priced more

Great Dinner 2/1/2008

I had a fabolous dinner on Jan 31st 2008. Pros: Always consistent more

Disappointment. 1/2/2008

We were looking forward to our first time dining experience at Venice on NYE. We booked the reservation when a friend recommended the restaurant - italian food is our favorite so we were even more thrilled. Cons: poor service, salty and poor quality of food more

Great food, nice atmosphere 12/16/2007

We visited on a Saturday night in December. I had the lamb special in Marsala sauce which was phenomenal. Everyone at our table was happy with their meal. The service was pretty good as well. Only complaint is that it was quite loud. more

authentic Italian food, best Italian wine list in town, friendly people 11/18/2007

This restaurant is one of my favorite one. Pros: great happy hours $3 food $5 drinks and wines Cons: nothing more

Nothing Special -Stick to Apps and Wine List 10/28/2007

Went to Venice Ristorante this weekend with a group of 4 ordering apps, wine and entrees. The apps were good (meat and cheese in particular were good) and the extensive winelist had some very good selections. The entrees on the other hand fell far short of our expectations -- they were not horrible just lacked taste and similar to what I would expect in a downscale restaurant. The only person who was somewhat satisfied with their selection had ordered the bone-in steak. The waitress was very nice. I would not choose to return. On a side note, when we tried to valet our car coming in and pick it up afterward, there was a long wait as no attendant was on site. Pros: Decor, Winelist, and Apps Cons: Entrees and Parking Wait more

LOVE the Carpaccio al Profumo di Tartufo 10/27/2007

I go just for the Carpaccio al Profumo di Tartufo... it's excellent! The filet mignon is sliced very thin and is very lean and tender. The capers are slightly fried which are perfect because they take on a salty vs pickled characteristic. The lime truffle oil brings all the flavors together. With a beautiful glass of red wine (they have plenty to choose from) I can't think of a better way to start a meal. Pros: Carpaccio al Profumo di Tartufo, wine selection and atmosphere Cons: Nothing really more

STILL THE BEST ITALIAN RESTAURANT IN DENVER 10/27/2007

I love Venice Ristorante. just going there and looking all the walls of fame is incredible. Pros: STILL THE BEST ITALIAN RESTAURANT IN DENVER more

A good restaurant and value, if you know how to order... 10/13/2007

We have been to Venice three times, and have had generally good experiences. However, some of the waitstaff are a bit pompous, and they will attempt to get your bill into the Stratosphere. For example, I asked for a good red wine by the glass, and the waiter kept trying to push a $65 bottle on me, telling me that I could ""take the wine with me home"". I ended up with a $10 Antinori blend that was very nice (Venice does use measured pours and also good stemware). Pros: Food Cons: Stuffy waiters who try to up your bill more

Fantastic Food....Very Rude Waiter/Bartender 8/7/2007

I was visiting Denver from LA and dined here and I must tell you that the salads and pastas were beyond fantastic!!!! We ordered a few different ones and shared them and each one was better than the other. The ambiance is sleek and modern and has a hip cool vibe. We sat at the bar and the bartender/waiter was beyond rude. I asked him for wine by the glass recommendations and with a very pompous attitude said ""every wine is amazing""...I asked him for his top two pasta favorites and he said, ""every pasta is amazing"". Then went I asked for some parmesan cheese on my pasta he looked at me and said ""you don't need cheese on our pasta...it comes out perfect"" however, I told him I wanted some and he got angry and said, ""unbelievable"" and smirked at me as if I insulted his food. At the end of the night the manager came up to us and took us through a tour of the wine room...very nice of him. Definitely try this restaurant...however, if you see a short bartender...stay away from him. Pros: Outstanding Food Cons: Service more

Not bad-not good 7/30/2007

Went there 7/28/07. Great wine list! Great service! The food, however, was not as great. Carpaccio was decent, and the spinach salad had far too much bacon. My wife's ravioli was good, not great. I strongly recommend AGAINST the lamb dishes. Had the spinach as a side dish, the garlic in the spinach was burnt to a crisp and rendered the spinach inedible. more

Not Adega, but still a great place... 7/28/2007

Great service, food was amazing. If you are expecting a replacement for Adega, you will be disappointed, but if you have an open mind, it's a great place. Pros: Service, Food, Location... Cons: None Really... more

My Favorite Place to eat 5/25/2007

Although it seems like the early reviews weren't great, this place is fantastic. They have by far one of the best happy hours in town $5 glasses of wine (good wine too) and $3 tapas sized plates. I tend to split some with whoever I am there with and 3-4 usually fill you up. The food is absolutely amazing! They have a great deck for the summer time and the astetics of the bar are visually pleasing. The service is generally impecable. Only once did I have to wait and they were increadibly busy. Afterward the manager came up and sincerly apologized (without me asking for it) and gave us free dessert. I visit Venice as often as I can, usually once a week. Definitely give it a try. Pros: Everything, I love it there! more

Love it so... 3/1/2007

This place has the BEST happy hour. From 4-7 you can get the most delicious appetizers and wine for great prices. I recommend the Carmel Road Pinot. I'm never dissapointed by the service or the food. We go once a week and I look forward to it all week long. Definitely try the cappellaci di zucca. Pros: lovely food and service Cons: a little bit of a cold atmosphere more

I live in the neighborhood and Venice 11/13/2006

I live in the neighborhood and Venice is my favorite place. The owners, Alesandro and Mario, are warm, friendly and inviting and thet seem to remember your name even after only couple visits. I' ve now been 4 times in a couple of months, and they greet us like we are old friends. The food is outstanding like my other favorite small restaurant in DTC (Chianti). I think they own more retaurants, but does not feel like a chain restaurant.. You get a lot of bang for your buck. Salads and few main courses are to die for (I love the veal caprese) and the seafood cioppin. Pros: free valet, amazing food, great people, stunning wine list Cons: reservation even on a monday more

Great atmosphere. 11/13/2006

If you don't walk in expecting Adega, you will be pleased with what you find. Upscale & trendy without the former attitude. This is a fabulously romantic place with great lighting and wonderful music. Italian opera was playing while I was there. Magnifico!! Definitely worth a visit, for the fabulous wines alone! Pros: The wine!!! The music!!! more

Impeccable 8/9/2006

This could have been one of the best dinner of my life... Service was impeccable, the food was phenominal. We ordred Carpaccio, insalata di pere, risotto and veal scaloppine, and everything was fantastic. The service was absolutely flawless, our waiter recomended a bottle of borolo which was absolutely perfect with the dishes. Pros: Free Valet more

Typical Poor Food and Wannabe Servers 7/27/2006

Where's my Adega?! This sad representation of Italian food is an extreme let down. This doesn't come near Adega (the previous restaurant in the location). They make it look like a top level restaurant but its all looks and that's it. Sauces were okay but not great and the veal was tough. Rude service, cheap quality in food, and no where near Adega's standards. I know Denver wants its Adega back! Pros: Beautiful dining room, wine Cons: food, service more
