We have been to Venice three times, and have had generally good experiences. However, some of the waitstaff are a bit pompous, and they will attempt to get your bill into the Stratosphere. For example, I asked for a good red wine by the glass, and the waiter kept trying to push a $65 bottle on me, telling me that I could ""take the wine with me home"". I ended up with a $10 Antinori blend that was very nice (Venice does use measured pours and also good stemware).
