I LOVED THIS PLACE. Is it closed. I really do not understand why places I like close while many places that have mediocre food, and are overpriced just keep going. more

You have to try this one out! 2/8/2009

First time I ever went here, the food was fantastic and the service mediocre. So I excused the service and went back again several months later. \r \r Thankfully this time around, I got a much better server. I hope that other one got fired! \r \r But the food speaks for itself and exceeds your wildest expectations. You have to try this one out! more

No better crepes to be found outside of Brittany 7/26/2008

This a great culinary experience in a unique and fun atmosphere. We arrived about 9:30 on a Friday night and even though the place was full of people having a great time, the bartender took the time to answer my questions and told us to sign in on on the blackboard with my name and number in our party. We grabbed a glass of wine, signed in and observed the activity. There are several areas including the bar and waiting area, an outside dining areea on the side walk, inside tables and a counter that is perfect for observing the construction of the crepes. After a short wait we were given the choice of where we wanted to sit. We chose the counter and enjoyed a great show of the crepe prep. It made your mouth water. I chose a dessert crepe which was served flambe with Grand Marnier. \r \r A real plus is the location just a block and ahalf from the bart station at 16th and Mission or on the 33 bus line The location can also be a negative if you fear eclectic crowds including street charactors. Be Brave, be adventurous and reap the reward of the best crepe outside of France Pros: close to public transportation,, ambience Cons: parking, more

Unacceptable Customer Service 9/6/2007

I've been a loyal Ti Couz customer for over 10 years. The scallop crepe with seafood sauce has been my staple food after long hours in school then...and still my favorite after long and stressful day at work now. I know that this place is environmentally conscious and ""take out"" is not accepted unless you bring your own food container (kudos for you on this one!). Tonight at 9 PM was one of those long and stressful day at work so I was nostalgic for my comfort food. I walked 5 blocks carrying my recyclable paper plate with tin foil (you need some kind of cover when walking in the Mission) and a metal bowl for the special salad. I politely ask Sergio (I found out the manager's name after) for a ""take out"" and gave him my food container. To my surprise, he wouldn't serve me! Sergio said that they are only allowed to do ""take out"" on a tupperware. I explained to him that I recycle the paper plate and tin foil and I wash my metal bowl. Apparently, this is Ti Couz law and tonight I can not get my scallop with seafood sauce and special salad. I can understand if I got rejected from bringing a plastic plate. Hey Ti Couz, I brought a recyclable container! I'm a person that shop at Rainbow Grocery...when recycling, I separate plastic lid and paper. I make sure to recycle every bit of waste in my household! You have to change your law within reasonable limit or you will lose another loyal customer. By the way, Atlas Cafe's beets sandwich and tuna sandwich was actually a better choice than Ti Couz greasy crepe. They even gave me a brown paper bag for my sandwich. Sergio, the manager, the plate and tin foil I left on the counter, please make sure to put those in the blue bin! Recycle! more

Are you kidding?? 7/24/2007

Visited this restaurant for the first time last night (weekday). Waited 45 minutes to get a table, which is fine as long as the food is up to expectations. But it was really disappointing. I am puzzled that this place can be rated so highly, when the crepes are really average. I had the ?complete? ? cheese, ham, and egg, and my friend had the mushroom and shrimp. Mine was overcooked and too light. One slice of ham throughout the crepe and I am supposed to be full? Am I the only one who has seen crepes prepared 10x better elsewhere? Okay, the mushroom and shrimp was marginally better, but still nothing remarkable. Maybe the restaurant should remind guests to order 2-3 crepes per person, instead of having all these other ridiculous signs posted all over the place. I strongly encourage people to try this joint out, so you can agree with me what a sad excuse for a restaurant this is. I?m not coming back. Avoir! more

Great Food in a Dumpy atmosphere 4/18/2007

The food is still great here - always just right in my experience (the other reviews say it all), - but as difficult is it for me to say about one of my favorite places in San Francisco....and I like atmosphere as much as the next person, but wake up proprietors, the place is a dump! The walls haven't seen a paint job in 10 +,years the floors are almost black with ground-in grime and all the furniture and mouldings are chipped and banged and scuffed to within an inch of their lives. If f you sit too near the dish-room in the rear half of the main dining room, it smells like fermenting dishwater. (under the black perforated floor mats) We asked to be moved because of the smell (there were plenty of open tables) - the host was most annoyed - he, by the way, gave us attitude from the moment we walked in. Time for a little routine maintenance and some attention to staff attitudes. Just a paint-job alone would do wonders.\r But from the owners point of view, the place is packed most evenings, so why bother? . I will still continue to go, since the food has maintained its level of excellence, but would a little attention to normal upkeep be too much to ask? Pros: Best crepes in town Cons: Difficult parking, deteriorating interior more

Amazing crepes 3/25/2007

If you think crepes can't fill you up you've never eaten here! The crepes are a meal in themselves. Add a small salad appetizer and an ice cream dessert and you'll need a wheelbarrow to leave! This a true gem in the heart of the mission. If you love crepes you'll love Ti Couz. Pros: Food, service, atmosphere Cons: parking more

It Lived Up to My Husband's Hype! 1/14/2007

My husband moved from San Francisco to NYC in 1995 and he's been pining for Ti Couz ever since. (He designed their business cards back then.) I was FINALLY introduced to the place in January 2007, and I can see why he missed it so. It has a warm, small-neighborhood feel, high ceilings, and plenty of place to sit. The service was awesome and crepes even more so - we had only two mornings for breakfast during our stay and we made the trek from Fisherman's Wharf (ugh) both times so we could try different crepes. My favorite standard - Crepe Complete - was perfection and I really enjoyed the sausage and cheese on the second visit. The fresh passion fruit juice was oh-so-refreshing and delicious. We wish the place were near us in New York.

RUN - don't walk - to the Mission District for a fabulous breakfast, lunch, dinner, or dessert crepe. Pros: Awesome crepes, friendly service Cons: There isn't one in lower Manhattan more

American crepe! 11/21/2006

A quaint, small place with great food. It?s perfect for a light crepe meal or an after sweet dessert. I went for the sausage and mushroom combination and really loved it...as the spices in the sausage were perfect. I like anything made with wheat and this place is really in sync with the crab challenge. Pros: Crepe Cons: Parking, small space more

Satisfying Crepes 11/17/2006

The crepes here are delicious! Just one crepe is enough to satisfy the appetite. I like to order the mushroom, cheese, and tomato. Another Ti Couz treat is the Bloody Mary that is served with a jumbo prawn. It is a friendly and casual place that is good for a date or a gathering with friends. Pros: Good food; reasonable prices more

Really bad service 10/2/2006

I went here last Saturday night. First of all, we had to seat ourselves b/c the hostess was not very helpful. The waiter didn't seem to care if we needed anything and I had to flag him down to order a drink after sitting for ~20 minutes. We dealt with it and ordered a tray of cheese and fruit which was pretty good. However, the waiter never came back to take our dinner orders so I had to flag him down to get the check. We ended up going to the Tapas place next door which I highly recommend. The best thing about this place was the bread that the busboy (who was helpful) brought to us. Needless to day, I'll never go back. Pros: Location Cons: Service more

Yummy Crepes 9/24/2006

It's one of the best crepe places in the city. good prices, fun place. The wait can be long, but it's a great late, night spot. Pros: Crepes, Prices, Late-night spot Cons: Wait-time more

Bad attitude, no crepes! 9/7/2006

Not my first time there, but definitely the worst experience so far. Last time, two years ago, we were ignored by the staff, but finally got a table and ate, and the waiter was pleasant.\r Not so this time. \r We went there during Labor Day weekend; the place was not crowded, yet the hostess was so rude when I asked her(politely) how long a wait there would be, that it was enough to make us go somewhere else. Not nice for a hostess to bark at customers...\r There is no shortage of good restaurants in the area(Garcon, Foreign Cinema, Provence, etc.), none of them have displayed the rudeness and the lack of attention that we saw at TiCouz.\r Cons: Service more

Best Creperie in SF 8/29/2006

This is by far the best creperie I have had (including those in Paris). I guess the ultimate compliment comes from my husband who is a Frenchy and he has made it a required stop when we are in town. The ambience is that of a neat street cafe in paris. You can sit at a bar and watch the crepes being made, at a bar, on a patio or inside the restaurant and each is a different atmosphere. Of course sitting on the street is fun b/c you can watch the variety of locals that frequent the area. May I suggest the champignone and carmelized onion crepe covered with champignone cream sauce.....it is truly a culinary experience. This is a destination which is always on my list when I go back to my old home. Pros: Food is wonderful, atmosphere is lively Cons: sometimes a little busy for brunch more

Disappointing Experience 8/12/2006

Since Ti Couz had a great review, we decided to give it a try but we were highly disappointed with the overall experience - most of all the rude service.\r The manager in charge absolutely did not understand the word ""customer experience"" which trickled down to the entire staff. We had to wait a long time to be seated, and then wait a long time for our server to come take our order, and then for our drinks to arrive and so on and so forth. The staff made you feel like they were doing you a favor and they were not baby friendly at all.\r I have never written a review before but due to my bad experience felt compelled to share our experience. I doubt we will ever go there again or reccomend it to anyone.\r more

Try the Nutella banana Crepe 7/9/2006

Totally pleasant experience, and I can't stop thinking about those nutella banana crepes with vanilla icecream. The crepe shell itself was amazing. Get it. Pros: Delicious food, short wait Cons: None! more

Who Charges for Bread? 3/5/2006

Ti Couz still serves the best crepes in San Francisco, and this is why I will continue to go there from time to time. However, patrons must adapt to servers who too often come across as indifferent. One should remember to order soup or salad with crepe(s) or be prepared to pay $2.50 for unremarkable bread, which becomes desirable after a long wait. Adding too many toppings will drive the cost far beyond what one should pay for a mere crepe. When the service is indifferent at best, and the total bill comes to more than $25.00 per person, for one crepe, a glass of wine, half a dessert crepe, and bread, deducting $2.50 from the tip to cover the cost of the bread seems justifiable. Pros: Decent Food, Good Drinks Cons: Poor Service more

Go for dessert 1/27/2006

Crepes are great for breakfast or dessert, and not necessarily for other meals. They make the best dessert crepes in the city. more
