Authentic and good Vietnamese food, nice and clean restaurant, friendly service 9/28/2007

I am Vietnamese and enjoy the food at Tamarind Tree very much. My favorites are the tasty appetizers such as the grilled la-lot beef roll, Tamarind Tree rolls in all variants, Vietnamese egg rolls - wrapped with the crispy rice paper or the main dish tumeric coconut rice cake. Pandan ice cream is my preferred dessert. It is the best Vietnamese restaurant for me in Little Saigon. The price for the good food quality and service is fine, and not expensive. I often go there with my family, and also with my business colleagues. I have never had a problem with the service staff. They were very busy, but always friendly, polite and hepful. more

Enjoyable 9/23/2007

Yes, parking here is a bit of a problem. There are very limited spaces closeby. The restaurant shares a parking lot with other Vietnamese businesses, in a kind of strip mall setting. Tamarind Tree is easily the most upscale, and crowded, establishment in the area. But although the lot was full, we were able to find parking quickly. Fortunate timing, I think. more

Look white people! A place in the I-District where you can feel comfortable 6/6/2007

I have never written a review on citysearch before. Look at my screen name. That's how strongly I feel about this place. I was willing to sign up for an account just to slam this place. more

Apparently, a lot of people have a lot of strong feelings about this place. 3/26/2007

Reading the reviews below, there seem to be so many strange negative reviews and also some good positive reviews for this place, although the negatives seemed to be mostly from some time ago (at least the majority). I've been to this place a number of times and personally, I think the place is great. I've not been going here for years, maybe only since sometime last year, but I've never had a problem with the service nor the food. I don't think the service was exceptional but I've never had any complaints. The food, on the other hand, I'd rave about! Pros: Great food, great value Cons: Often busy and there's a wait, parking is unavailable at times, more
