I went to this place in 1976, and had a devestating experience. My date and I were the only two people in the restaurant. He ordered a white wine instead of red wine by mistake. more

Good food but horrible service 12/13/2011

I enjoyed the cozy ambiance and paste entrees with my date. However, that was all detracted from by the less than helpful and arrogant servers. Took way too long to get our meals and drinks and I honestly can't see myself coming back here. more

Rude and disrespectful - full review to follow 10/11/2011

After my recent experience with the manager and the ""bouncers"" which I will document in a later comment - I would advise any one to frequent any one of the other numerous bars in the area. These people are real scum and just know that your $$ are going to people who really do not care about their repeat customers in any way. more

I just recently ventured to Sutton Place for the first time since living in NYC for a few years. I really enjoyed myself. Its very low key and a great place to grab drinks with friends and chill. This may have been because it was a Wednesday night so I cannot speak for the atmosphere on the weekends. I recommend this place. more

Recently ate at Sutton Place and the food was outstanding! Hats off to the chef!! It's too bad I had to wait so long to be seated, but the food made up for it! I will be going back again! more

the guy on the phone was a dick. i wanted to order my sister a drink for her birthday and he was way to lazy to even listen so he just hung up on me. then he wouldnt pick up the calls untill i tried again from a restricted number. he is a f*cking dick Cons: the guy on the phone was a dick more

I never usually write reviews but was surfing this sight and was extremely surprised by the amount of negative reviews. I work in at another bar a block away from Sutton and have gone there after work quite a few times. The bouncers and staff have been nothing but a pleasure, especially Bobby (a bartender) who often works the roof top or middle floor. The drinks are never lacking a substantial amount of alcohol. However I refuse to give five stars because I don't particularly find the crowd appealing. Pros: BOBBY Cons: The crowd more

Rude Bartender's Need Firing - Rude Staff Too 10/4/2009

1) We walked in looking for our party and the person yelled at us and told us we couldn't stand where we were. We tell him what we are looking for and he could care less. 2) A staff member interrupted me while I was on the phone in a stairwell to tell me that he was sick of listening to my conversation and that I should be done and go away. 3) Staff constantly pushing you out of the way without saying excuse me. 4) Absurd bar prices on crappy drinks. When I saw the ridiculous bill, I undertipped and the bartender actually freaked out at me in front of the people that we were there with and would not accept my credit card until I made it more! DON'T GO HERE! Pros: Nice Rooftop, but thats about it. Cons: ABSOLUTELY RUDE!! more

There are better places on 2nd ave 6/30/2009

Most of the honest reviews about this establishment are spot on. My experience: The ""holier than thou"" bouncers actually denied my friend entrance on a Thursday night because he was not wearing a collared shirt. He was still well dressed (nice jeans, shoes and a nice t-shirt), but that didn't seem to matter, even with a thinned out crowd. With all the other bar options on this stretch of 2nd avenue, this place shouldn't be picky about customer dress code. Especially when those customers are willing to spend money. Their loss, as we took our business to a more comfortable (and I'm sure just as fun) bar just a block away. Pros: ok on quiet nights Cons: poor staff attitude more

Great Rooftop 2/6/2009

I stopped here almost every weekend over the summer and never had a problem. The crowd is always great, only downfall is that the rooftop gets pretty packed, but you have to expect that at a good bar. Pros: Roof top, crowd, music Cons: Can get crowded at times more
