I just recently ventured to Sutton Place for the first time since living in NYC for a few years. I really enjoyed myself. Its very low key and a great place to grab drinks with fr...

What are the idiots at the door of this place thinking. No white t-shirts? This is the year 2003 and I think this is the only place you can't wear a white t-shirt to. A brown t...

Absurd t-shirt rule 6/28/2006

My bf was to meet me there early Thu evening for my coworker's farewell gathering. When he got there, he was denied entry b/c he wore a subtly printed t-shirt--nothing loud or obnoxious, just printed w/the name of a band. He flipped it over so the prints would not show, & still he was denied entry. We tried to convince the bouncer to let him in, but he won't budge & even used unnecessary profanity. There was really no need for it--we weren't violent or causing a scene. Mind you, this is not some upscale bar lounge--just a loud sports bar. I will make sure never to return & will tell my friends/family not to either. I say, skip it...there are plenty of other bars around. Cons: Ridiculous dress code, Attitude from bouncer, Noisy more

couldn't even get served 5/24/2006

went here with a friend two Sundays ago for brunch. The rooftop deck is a fantastic place to hang out in good weather. Unfortunately we waited for about 20 minutes after we were sat, watching the waitress chat with some of her other tables and never come anywhere near us. We finally left. Oh, and by the way....the hostess informed us that they only serve bloody mary's on Sundays. Only this place could manage to screw up what could be a huge money making outdoor brunch spot. Pros: great outdoor space Cons: nonexistent service, boring menu more

Slow service and snotty poeple. There were no men at this bar just boys who look like they just turned of age. I am sure they are not proofing. Pros: Not one Cons: Boy..no men more

Mediocrity 5/14/2006

The roof bar is nice, and it's the only draw. This place is also relatively empty, I have yet to see one attractive girl in their, and usually after 1-2 drinks we're ready to leave and find a bar that sucks less. I don't know where the complaints about dress codes and yuppies come from. Everytime i've been there most of the crowd was poorly dressed and looked like trash, not yuppies. I would not go there except for 2-3 pre-game drinks on the roof before heading off somewhere fun Pros: Roof, Alcohol Cons: Ugly Girls, Empty, Mediocre layout more

A joke in frat row 4/8/2006

Been here before while wearing the requisite 'collared shirt'. Was meeting some friends there this past weekend but was wearing a t-shirt (more $ than the abercrombie/lacoste polos inside) but the tool of a bouncer said ""you have to have a collared shirt to enter"" - ha! What kind of BS is that? Since when do you need a collared shirt to get into a bar on frat boy row??? Oh well, their loss - not worth it... Pros: Decent Crowd Cons: Tools at the door, "dress code" more

Great View, Poor Value 9/2/2005

Great view, terrible prices and even worse service. If being around beautiful pretentious people is your thing, while being treated like dirt, then come here. Don't worry, there is a roof for you to leap from when you're tired of the place. Pros: Awesome View, Mingling Cons: Crowded, Expensive, Service more

The roof is on fire! 5/10/2005

I have gone several times to the roof bar and ALWAYS have a great time. The crowd is good looking and yes PROFESSIONAL. This bar gets a wide age range of people depending on what time you go but it is definitely a fun place to meet and mingle with all types. As for the complaints that it's expensive, those are the same individuals that don't like people who have to wear a suit to work. It's no more expensive than any other place in NYC! If you want cheap beer in a 2 x 4 bar, there are plenty on 2nd avenue to go to. more

Clear Choice 1/4/2005

A few weeks back, my friends and I were discussing some of the worst places we had ever gone to in NY. Eeveryone agreed that among the many East Side disaster sites, this place clearly takes the cake. The customers are bad enough but the employees are taken right from Real Life: Jersey Shore. In addition, their policies are absurd. Avoid at all costs. Pros: Served booze more

nice terrace 6/3/2004

I went there on a wed night to meet up with some friends around 1130 .I went in without any problems.Place was quiet since it was wed night.I went up on the terrace.Bottle of corona is 7 bucks.Nice view of manhattan from the terrace.Terrace is not as big as that of china clubs probably half the size. You can smoke upstairs but apparently not by the bar as per the bouncer.Staff didnt look all that friendly. It is an average bar if it was not for the terrace, they would be bankrupt. more
