DUMP!!!! Skank Inn!! 4/15/2012

My friends had there beach wedding here. The wedding was gorgeous. The banquet room was decent. As soon as you walk in there are cobwebs hanging from the ceiling, the doors are falling off the hinges, (this is just in the lobby), the wall paper is peeling off the walls. After standing in line for over an hour waiting to check in, another guest cancelled his room after checking the mattress and didn't want to sleep on menstrual stains. Can't blame him - as we didn't either. The hotel clerk offered to change his room, he had enough as we did also. We had the chance to look at the rooms, the paint was peeling off the walls, the toilets did not fill up 25 minutes after flushing. It is a very run down hotel. The Super 8 across the street was nicer than this place! Seriously!! Use their pools and stay at the 8. Save your money!! more

Worst Hotel Ever 4/9/2012

If this hotel could receive a negative rating, believe me, I would give it to them. Upon checking in, we went to our room and the door didn't lock properly or close all the way. That should have been the first clue. The room smelled like ""puke"", was not clean, and felt really dirty and buggy. We went back to the front desk and asked for a different room. The second room was even worse. The door was open, beds not made, food, garbage, etc. laying around. Again, back to the front desk. Their excuse - 3 of their cleaning crew called in. The girl at the front desk kept saying, ""I'm new"". What that had to do with the cleanliness of the room, I don't know. They couldn't get keys to encode properly for other customers that were waiting. Even the front desk area had a foul smell to it. We checked out (still waiting for our refund to ""hit"" our account"") as fast as we checked in. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy! more

Didnt want to leave! 8/9/2011

After being terrified by all the NEGATIVE remarks on this website, we were surprised to find it was a wonderful room, with a wonderful view and the boys (both four) loved the slide and didn't want to leave. We had a new room from the looks of the wonderful tiled shower and sink, so we really had no complaints. The lovely ""Hungarian housekeeper"" was as sweet as she could be and was always there to help with anything we needed. more

Steps from the beach! 8/4/2011

read the reviews and feel few have stated both pros and cons. What's great about this hotel is that if you are on the north side second floor, you'll have a great view of the ocean and you are STEPS from the beach. Most south and east facing rooms have ocean views as well. This is the northmost property on the beach, so there is nothing between you and the sand and surf. Yes, the hotel is run down. The towels and sheets are threadbare, the wall paper is peeling. However, we found the desk staff to be friendly and helpful. If you are a clean freak (no offense), stay across the street at one of the chains with no view or sound of the surf. However, if you want see this wonderful, beautiful beach; walk to the beach in less than a minute (literally); be able to run back to the room anytime; get great recommendations for restaurants; then this is a good place to stay. The pier is on the other side of the hotel. This hotel is in a great location. I'll go back, and am looking forward to it. I didn't use either pool, so I can't say much, except that many people were using both and having fun. more

Great! 8/2/2011

All the reviews mention the old rooms, but fail to mention the AWESOME pool with waterslide and children's play area, and tiki bar, all walking distance to the beach, pier, and awesome little eatery across the street. The staff was acommodating, the room was adequate, albeit old and worn. Chek-in was not until 3 p.m., but we arrived at 10:30 a.m. with beach gear in tow and were allowed to spend the entire day at the pool unitl our room was ready. The kids (and I!) loved the waterslide. DH loved the tiki bar. We drove in locally and only planned to spend one night, so we spent the dy at the pool, beach and out to dinner, slept in teh room for a few hours, showered in the mornng and checked out. Spent teh next day in downtown St. Aug and drove home. I admit I would not have been comfotable in that room for more than a day, but we had a great time at the pool. They also have an indoor pool and hot tub for cooler days (I assume) that was pretty new. If you are not a high maintenance person, you will love it. I would definitely go back again for the pool alone, but would definitley pay the extra money for one of the ""updated"" rooms. more

Nice and clean 7/27/2011

We stayed in the new section of the hotel and the room was nice and clean. We requested ocean view ahead of time and got a room on the parking lot side, and were told that was all they had, but it still was easy to get to the beach and the pool and tiki bar which had reasonable drinks, and a great singer and guitar player who could play great songs of all kinds. My only complaint was that we had key problems and were told that they could do nothing until the manager was there, and she left while we were at dinner and did not come back til the next morning; but they did make it right for us and the rest of our stay was ok, I think the manager should designate someone else who can fix the room key problems. more

I loved the room! 7/25/2011

Me and my Boyfriend took a vacation down in Florida and decided to stay here for a few nights. We stayed 03/31/09-04/03/2009. We stayed in room 235. I loved the room! It was one of the newly renovated rooms and I couldn't have asked for more, especially for the great deal we got! The location is great.! It was close to everything! And we could sit on our balcony and look at the ocean! It was also nice to hear the ocean at night! I loved the bathroom and the bed was very comfortable. I have posted pictures so everyone can see what a great place this is, especially for the money spent! I was leary after reading some of the reviews but I was pleasantly surprised as soon as we checked in. Check in took about 5 mintues and there was even two people a head of me. There was nothing to complain about there like some past reviewers and check out took even less time. I had no problems with the room being dirty. It appeared to be very clean. I would definitely stay here whenever I am in St. Augustine and will recommend the St. Augustine Beachfront Resort to anybody I know! more

Great customer service 7/22/2011

Went to St. Augustine beach for the Georgia/Flordia football game. The hotel rooms where to be expected at a beach hotel. The moment you walk through the door you leave sand tracks in the room. We arrived at the hotel really late and the person next to us had a dog that was barking through the door between the rooms. We complained to the management and they upgraded our room for free. Great customer service. no complaining, just wanted to make us happy. The next day we went to the indoor pool. kinda cold. spa was very nice. also has a very nice outdoor pool with a slide and bar. enjoyed our trip very much and looking forward to going back in the future. They are doing some recent updates on painting ect. so it is a little messy in places. more

Bad Experiance 7/21/2011

I had a bad experiance here. I made reservations 3 weeks in advance. After standing in line a hour they could not find my reservation. They did give me a room. When I opened the door the bed was unmade ad the room was dirty. There was 1 king size bed (on the phone I was told all rooms have 2 queen size beds). I went back to the front desk and told them I dd not want to stay there. They charged me a 33.00 cancelation fee. Staff was not friendly, very short with me. I have a 2 year old son and he was very fussy by the time we got out of there. All he kept saying was beach, beach. In ended up staying at Holiday Isle. Great experiance there more

Very nice 7/20/2011

Very nice indoor pool & jacuzzi, some work being done to the faclity but overall very nice, great staff, they have some birds and a giant parakeet in the lobby that was a HUGE hit with the kids. more

The room was nice 7/18/2011

I went there with my family, and since we were on a budget we choose this resort. It is a great place to stay at a low cost. You are right on the beach, plus they have TWO pools and a water slide. The room was nice and we were only 10 minutes from the Historic Downtown Area. We had alot of fun and cant wait to go back! We stayed in room 116 right in front of the ocean. more

Beautiful 7/14/2011

St. Augustine Beachfront Resort was selected for our recent gathering of friends because of the location, the amenities offered, the reasonable cost, and the helpful friendliness of the staff. We were not disappointed in a one of these areas. Judy Smith, Sales Mgr. and the staff promptly attended our every need. The location on the beautiful beach and adjacent to Anastasia State Park added yet another dimension of pleasure to our visit there. It is a most desirable destination for family, friends, business, or social occasions! more

Very dirty Hotel 7/13/2011

This hotel is in a great location but was disgusting. We checked out 5 minutes after we checked in. Beware! I am sure some people have a great experiance at this hotel, but ours was not. The rooms were verrry dirty. The floor was not vaccumed, the pillow cases and sheets had holes in them because they were so old, hair all in the shower, just not very attractive at all. When I was checking in there were numerous people coming in and complaining their rooms were not cleaned. I should have taken that as a clue from the get go. more

Beautiful 7/12/2011

We stayed in room 238 on 8/15/09 and it was a renovated room that was pretty nice, we weren't expecting a 5-star hotel, with a jacuzzi and an interesting shower...well an odd shower anyway. They basically put a showerhead in the mirror over the jacuzzi and there was no curtain or protection to keep water from going everywhere so I wouldn't want to be on the cleaning crew. The pool areas were busy but more than I expected to be honest. They were having problems with the hot water in the rooms and in the hot tub but the entire place seemed to be mid-renovation. It has a lot of potential but is definitely a work in progress. I would suggest this hotel if a renovated room is available. Some of the other guests seemed unhappy with the old rooms. Great location and beautiful beachfront!!! more

comfortable 7/7/2011

You can't beat the price for the ammenities. A long, pristine stretch of beach is steps away, the rooms were clean, the attendants came by often. Historical areas only 10 min. away. Major tip: Bring Your Own Beach Towels and Chairs! There was a Publix right down the street and an excellent retsuarant called Mango Mango's - we ate there every night, even with our picky eaters. They had both an outdoor and indoor pool. We had a wonderful, comfortable trip and will definitely return. more

Very nice and clean 7/6/2011

We were given a room in the new section which was very nice and clean. Service at the front desk was extremely friendly and very helpful. Both my husband and myself would recommend this resort hotel to all our friends. We will most definitely come back. more

Really friendly 6/30/2011

The most relaxing place 6/28/2011

My husband and I went on a road trip from Michigan and ended up in Florida. I seen the website for this resort and wanted to look at it before booking our stay. The staff at the desk gave us a Kitchenette room for the price of a standard room. The staff here are extremely friendly. The cleaning ladies always made sure we had everything we needed. We had the best room and view that they have. (Room 272). We must have taken a few thousand pics of the ocean, sunrise, and the waves. This place is the most relaxing place I have ever been. My husband and myself go on road trips a few times a year and this one was by far the best. In fact we are returning for the holidays. We left our room door open and sat outside everyday and enjoyed the view. The public beach to the left of the resort is great for sea shell hunting after the tide recedes. The private beach was great for sun tanning. The pools were sparkling clear. I cant wait to return. Some people like ""ritzy"" places to stay. I prefer the places that give you an at ""home"" feeling. more

:-) 6/20/2011

Okay the bathroom ceiling had two colors of paint, the furniture looked water damaged on the bottom..... yet the room and sheets where Clean! We were in a pet friendly room, which I'm sure meant not their best :-) The staff were very friendly and helpful, and like I said, location, location location!!! Pools were clean, Hot tub was nice. Lawn furniture avaliable on the deck. We have and will stay again. Price is reasonable. more

Helpful and very pleasant 6/15/2011

While this is an older hotel undergoing renovation, I must say that the staff made it a great stay. Friendly, Helpful and very Pleasant!!! That alone made me overlook the average room still in process of renovation. more
