BE CAREFUL OF THIS PLACE 9/7/2012

We stayed over labor day weekend and our first impression was great. Fun slide, decent pool by the ocean..... then reality set in. In our first room our TV did not work, nor the telephone; we were promptly moved to new room and at first thought was everything was still ok. But the longer we were in room the more issues we had. The refrigerator did not work at all, there was no hair dryer and no phone at all. We did get a working refrigerator by the end of the day... but it was quite a wait (eight hours). And on our last full day the boiler went out and we had no hot water. Yuck! The worst part is I would have expected the hotel to offer compensation.... all we were offered was a one night free stay on a weekday of our choosing. Well.... what good is a weekday stay to a place we have no intention of visiting again in the next couple of years? None. more

great place to stay 8/9/2011

I went there with my family, and since we were on a budget we choose this resort. It is a great place to stay at a low cost. You are right on the beach, plus they have TWO pools and a water slide. The room was nice and we were only 10 minutes from the Historic Downtown Area. We had alot of fun and cant wait to go back! We stayed in room 116 right in front of the ocean. more

I had a great time. I read some of the reviews here and have to disagree on alot. I had a great time there with my family. The rooms may need a little repair in some places, but from the filthy description I have read. The breakfast was great to an ol southern boy, Gravy, eggs, bacon. And Judy that works there was nothing but great to all of my party, going out of her way to help whenever we needed something. very reasonable priced rooms next to the beach and boardwalk. Hey it may not be name brand new hotel, and may need a little repair in some places, but I had a great experience and a great price, and will be staying with Miss Judy again. more

Only Good One 8/2/2011

We stayed in a room overlooking the outdoor pool and our room was fine. We met people there who had a lot of trouble with their fridges and microwaves but we have no complaints to make of this hotel. I agree with someone who said earlier that if you are looking for a 'resort' then you should go pay the resort prices. This is an ordinary hotel on the beach. The ice machines ran out of ice but there were a lot of coolers being filled up that way - what did we expect?? Overall I'd say the hotel was nice, the staff was pleasant and we enjoyed our week there. We'd go back there...I guess I'll ask for the same room number since it seems we might have had the only good one ha. more

We were given a room in the new section which was very nice and clean. Service at the front desk was extremely friendly and very helpful. Both my husband and myself would recommend this resort hotel to all our friends. We will most definitely come back. more

So Relaxing! 7/29/2011

My husband and I went on a road trip from Michigan and ended up in Florida. I seen the website for this resort and wanted to look at it before booking our stay. The staff at the desk gave us a Kitchenette room for the price of a standard room. The staff here are extremely friendly. The cleaning ladies always made sure we had everything we needed. We had the best room and view that they have. (Room 272). We must have taken a few thousand pics of the ocean, sunrise, and the waves. This place is the most relaxing place I have ever been. My husband and myself go on road trips a few times a year and this one was by far the best. In fact we are returning for the holidays. We left our room door open and sat outside everyday and enjoyed the view. The public beach to the left of the resort is great for sea shell hunting after the tide recedes. The private beach was great for sun tanning. The pools were sparkling clear. I cant wait to return. Some people like "ritzy" places to stay. I prefer the places that give you an at "home" feeling. more

will stay here again!! 7/25/2011

I booked a room for 4 nights at this resort for myself (a single mother) and my 3 young children, ages 10, 8, and 1. I have to say that after reading the reviews, I was very skeptical of staying here with my children but thought I would chance it...so glad I did!! The staff were so delightful, they allowed us to check in about 3 hours early, got out in the night to get us supplies, and again in the night to unlock our room after we locked the key inside. The pool was fantastic, the kids had a blast sliding on the water slide and also enjoyed the indoor pool after hours as long as we kept the noise down. I could sit at the pool and look straight out to the beach, had the convenience of washing our clothes in the laundry facility before heading home, and could have used the exercise equipment if I had chosen to do so. In closing, I would like to say that this hotel is great for the price, has excellent access to the beach, and I felt completely safe and at home. When I return to Saint Augustine, I will stay here again!! more

Beautiful Beachfront!!! 7/22/2011

We stayed in room 238 on 8/15/09 and it was a renovated room that was pretty nice, we weren't expecting a 5-star hotel, with a jacuzzi and an interesting shower...well an odd shower anyway. They basically put a showerhead in the mirror over the jacuzzi and there was no curtain or protection to keep water from going everywhere so I wouldn't want to be on the cleaning crew. The pool areas were busy but more than I expected to be honest. They were having problems with the hot water in the rooms and in the hot tub but the entire place seemed to be mid-renovation. It has a lot of potential but is definitely a work in progress. I would suggest this hotel if a renovated room is available. Some of the other guests seemed unhappy with the old rooms. Great location and beautiful beachfront!!! more

comfortable trip 7/20/2011

You can't beat the price for the ammenities. A long, pristine stretch of beach is steps away, the rooms were clean, the attendants came by often. Historical areas only 10 min. away. Major tip: Bring Your Own Beach Towels and Chairs! There was a Publix right down the street and an excellent retsuarant called Mango Mango's - we ate there every night, even with our picky eaters. They had both an outdoor and indoor pool. We had a wonderful, comfortable trip and will definitely return. more

This place is perfect for a romantic getaway or with the family! I cannot say enough about how great it was. The staff are accomodating, personable, and everyone is friendly. We used both pools, the jacuzzi, the 116 foot water slide, and got some delicious cocktails at the Tiki Bar! Patty and Barbara at the front desk made sure our stay was unforgettable! You can't beat the sunrise over the Atlantic in the morning. The fishing pier is adjacent to the property and great for an evening stroll. Downtown is only a few minutes away and there are restaurants close by. We wouldn't stay anywhere else and we didn't stay in one of the renovated rooms. You can't beat the place for the price, the accomodations, and the location. Hope everyone has as much fun as we did. We'll be back very soon! more

Excellent 7/12/2011

The staff here was a pleasure to work with, in planning and executing a 3 day event. From the front desk to the kitchen, we were extremely pleased with the results. Although the rooms are not the most up dated, everyone in our group of well over 100 people was most satisfied. the rooms were clean & the beds were comfortable. The grounds, lounge, banquest rooms etc are all condussive to a great time for a couple or large group. Being literally right on the beach was excellent! There are a few thing that showed a little bit of wear, but it is not priced like some of the overpriced chains. The few minor concerns we had were addressed immediately. The attitude and friendlyness of the staff spoke volumes. Did not see any sign of any critters of any kind. This place is a real place for real people. If you are a prissy stiff ,you might want to go down the road and spend twice as much...lol more

Always there to help 7/11/2011

After being terrified by all the NEGATIVE remarks on this website, we were surprised to find it was a wonderful room, with a wonderful view and the boys (both four) loved the slide and didn't want to leave. We had a new room from the looks of the wonderful tiled shower and sink, so we really had no complaints. The lovely "Hungarian housekeeper" was as sweet as she could be and was always there to help with anything we needed. more

"This motel is old. No denying that. It is on the beach which causes its own kind of problems and they were handled very well by the staff. Upon reading the reviews after our group had booked the stay I was concerned but trusted the people who booked the place so I went. The reviews I have read did not seem to be about the same place I stayed. The food was good, beds were comfortable, heat worked at night and AC worked during the day. None of the bad things I had read were evident. The staff was friendly and very accommodating and tolerant of our groups needs. I would and will stay there again. more

Very Nice & Clean 6/27/2011

We stayed in the new section of the hotel and the room was nice and clean. We requested ocean view ahead of time and got a room on the parking lot side, and were told that was all they had, but it still was easy to get to the beach and the pool and tiki bar which had reasonable drinks, and a great singer and guitar player who could play great songs of all kinds. My only complaint was that we had key problems and were told that they could do nothing until the manager was there, and she left while we were at dinner and did not come back til the next morning; but they did make it right for us and the rest of our stay was ok, I think the manager should designate someone else who can fix the room key problems. more

we stayed with a large group of people,and they were very nice helped with every problem we had,and I must say the food they served for dinner was top notch,it is older but for the price you cant go wrong,the rooms were clean and the bar and tiki bar was flowin I would go back more
