Best

The food (Italian) is good but what I liked most was the way they treated my son by bringing out an Etch A Sketch and server acknowledged him. We also liked that kids are allowed...

Worst

Took former college roommates here to wrap up a day of fun. One was visiting from NYC, a semi annual event. They depend upon me to find a good restaurant. I had had drinks here...

Editorial review from Citysearch 1/23/2014

French food isn't my favorite, but when I need a place to go with great bread and to impress friends this is it. Happy hour is epic. Lots of small plates that let you try new foods. Live music is always pleasant too. more

Exceptional food, wonderful wine list 2/17/2011

We went with two friends. Right out of the gate, the service was stellar. We ordered 3 appetizers, calamari, ahi tuna tartare and the charcuterie plate. All superb. As for salads, a butter lettuce salad was delicate and fresh, my beet/pear salad was something I wish I could have at least once a week. One friend had the Simple salad and voiced much satisfaction. My husband had the lobster raviolli and I had the butternut squash raviolli. Our dinner mates chose the lobster ravioli and the beef tenderloin. All meals were top of the line. We ordered two bottles of wine during the meal. The selection is impressive. They also have a good selection of ports. We'll be back in the near future. more

Orgasmic Lunch in the Pearl 10/22/2010

After wandering about playinig tourists in our home town, we came upon a simply decorated, wooden plank floored divine little place on the corner. Large windows meant lots of natural light, interior was warm and spare. more

One of my Favorites 9/11/2010

Serratto has long been one of my favorite Portland spots, both for Happy Hour and Dinner. The atmosphere is pleasant both outside and inside, especially on a raised lounge above the bar. For Happy Hour, the cheeseburger, the onion soup, the fries, and the salads are great, though the burger can be salty for some. For dinner, the tenderloin, the chicken, and the pork are all delicious. I have had nothing but great service. Highly recommended. more

Fine Dining in a Relaxed Atmosphere 7/23/2010

A breezy casual but nicely/simply decorated restaurant makes enjoying your meal and friends very easy. The staff is friendly, and are very responsive to requests. Pros: What's not to like? Cons: I'm thinking, I'm thinking, ... more

Fantastic Happy Hour 3/12/2010

Visited for my first time to Serratto's happy hour and was very satisfied. I started with the french onion soup which had great flavor. My friend and I shared the hamburger/fries and prawns. They have unique selections for a happy hour menu mixed with some good stand-bys and even those have a different twist.(hamburger was really good, delicious sauce) The atmosphere was relaxed yet contemporary, will definitely be back! Pros: Menu selection, quality food, great wine list Cons: Service somewhat slow more

Decent food, Inconsistent Service 6/13/2009

Normally I would rate this restaurant as high as five stars, however my experience this evening was not the best. I am not what you would call a regular, however I do eat there once or twice a month. Every time I have gone I start with the french onion soup, which is usually absolutely amazing. However this evening it was unusually thick and had a very potent taste of recently added wine. The soup as a whole was lukewarm, so I sent it back to the kitchen. Rather then asking me whether or not I was pleased with the dish the waitress simply grabbed it off the table and left before I had a chance to say anything. Throughout the night this same waitress only stopped by the table once, leaving the other members of the wait staff to tend to the party I was in. At the end of the night when the bill was brought to me the waitress still tried to charge me for the soup, I asked if it was customary to charge for dishes which were sent back to the kitchen. She told me that she did not consider it sent back as I had not said anything to her explicitly about the dish, and that was why I was being charged. At which point she grabbed the ticket from my hand and said ""we won't charge you for the soup"" and very rudely walked away. This was one of the nights where the experience as a whole was not what I am used to from this fine restaurant, and had I not dined here multiple times before and this were my first visit I would not be returning. I hope this does not become a regular event when I am dining there. Pros: Best burger in town, amazing pom frites, good wine list Cons: Service is inconsistent in quality, food quality varies more

Mean people 6/3/2009

Very mean service; rude and disrespectful. I went their for my birthday and they ruined it. I would never give my money to them again. Pros: Food Cons: Service more

pizza 5/15/2009

Perfect pizza, great wine list, great bartender and servers. The pizza was better than K__'s Artisan!!!! We were there at 3:30.....perfect for two people just out for a snack and wine on a Friday afternoon. Forgot to say....on other days, we have had the most perfect french fries. Outside tables if you want!!! Pros: best basic pizza in Portland more

Outstanding food, service & ambience 10/13/2008

This place is truly excellent. I don't know how I spent so many years eating at Bluehour, Paley's Place and other established PDX favorites without trying Serratto. My partner and I are self-proclaimed foodies, having eaten all over PDX, the US, and the world. We have now been to Serratto three times - just the two of us, with another couple, and in a group - and every time it has been a great dining experience. Every time has been a different experience, but always a great one. It's as if Serratto scans your mood on the way in the door, and then has this chameleon-like ability to adapt to it. Pros: You feel good in here Cons: It's a hike to the bathroom more

Great place for a meal 9/22/2008

We went here for a birthday celebration. The group consisted of 9 through 71 year olds. We were seated promptly and our server came over right away. She gave us extra time to look over the menu, at our request. Ordered calamari and it was served very quickly and was really good. The salads came next, and were tasty, although the pear/walnut salad was short on pears. Dinners ordered were mac n cheese, the burger and monk fish. All were good. Service was attentive and professional. Pros: service, interior, wine list Cons: parking is difficult for handicapped more

Amazing Food 4/14/2008

I had dinner on Saturday night with 5 of my friends. We were seated promptly at 7:00pm and had the most wonderful server. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and recommended a wonderful bottle of wine (we had 2). We ordered the BBQ ribs and calamari for appetizers- and both were great. Everyone loved their dinners- we had the pork, the lamb ravioli, the risotto, the spinach fettuccine and the tagliatelle with wild boar. Everyone finished everything on their plate. We were full, but decided to try dessert as well, and were not disappointed. I would highly recommend Serrato for the food, the ambience and the amazing service! Pros: Ambience, Food, Service more

The BEST Customer Service 4/7/2008

We went with a group of 6 to Serrato's on a Friday night, and had reservations for 6 at 7:30pm. When we got there, they explained that our table was not free yet (there were still guests having desert at the table) and asked if we would like another table. Since the table that we made reservations for was a nice round table, we said we would wait. They were very apologetic, but we didn't mind waiting- it was quiet enough in the entryway to hear our conversations). Then, the hostess brought all six of us glasses of champagne while we waited. We got our table a little after 8. We ordered the clams as appetizers and they were delicious. They also brought us another appetizer, although I can't remember what it was (they apologized again for the late seating). We ordered the special of the night- paella, which was very good, and did not skimp on the seafood. Other meals that were ordered were the risotto, the pork, and the steak. Every dish was clean. We also ordered some deserts to share, which were also all eaten. The server brought out some desert wine at the same time, again to apologize for the initial wait. Overall, I can't wait to have another excuse to go there. The server and all other staff really knows how to keep customers coming back. Even if they did not bring us all the freebies, we enjoyed the atmosphere, the staff, and all the food. We will definitely be back again for a special occassion. Pros: Customer Service, Ambience Cons: So good, you won't want to leave (and thus, even with reservations you might have to wait) more

Fantastic, Classy way to celebrate turning 21 3/16/2008

My boyfriend made reservations for us to have dinner at Serratto for my 21st birthday, and we had a wonderful experience. Upon entering, they immediately handed us each a glass of champagne (you can imagine my excitement since I was turning 21). The service was great, the food was delicious, the wine was great, and the dessert was fantastic. It was such a wonderful night. It was expensive for our college student budget (my boyfriend ended up shelling out more than $130 for everything), but it was way worth it. Very relaxed, yet classy. We loved it! Pros: Fantastic Food, Fantastic Service, Wonderful Ambience Cons: street parking more

Happy Hour! 2/24/2008

Great Happy Hour! I had no idea. I've lived in the NW area for years and recently discovered Seratto's Happy Hour. I now frequent it often. Selected wines are $4 and there are Pizza's fresh from the wood oven for $5-6 if my memory serves me correct. A party of 2 can leave full of drinks and wine for under $30. I highly recommend going with friends or for a quiet date. The atmosphere in the bar lends itself to both occasions. more

Great Service, Good Food 2/22/2008

Serratto, located next to Caffe Mingo, on Kearney is great for a romantic dinner. The dining room is dimly lit and though it is only average sized the sizable ceiling space creates a feeling of spaciousness. The service is exceptional and the food is good and reasonably priced. I recommend the the Manacotti. Make reservations for the place fills up quickly on a Friday or Saturday night. All in all a good dining experience and would recommend it. more

Wonderful, relaxing dinner, incredible service 2/20/2008

I have been told about Serratto from friends that have long enjoyed Portland's restaurant scene. The fabulous food, incredible service, great atmosphere. No smoke was blown!!! We were NOT disappointed Tuesday night. Everything was superb!!!! Our server was professional and very pleasant ,yet not an overwhelming presence. Water and wine consistantly and stealthly filled and plates removed at the exact correct time. All four of us enjoyed our appetizer (calamari), our entrees (phenomenal roast chicken, venison great, and lovely, sophisticated mac n cheese) and 2 bottles of an incredible Pinot Noir. Far too satiated to induldge in dessert, but next time. There will be many ""next times"" for us and our friends. Thank you, Serratto, for getting it right and making it worth spending $200+ on dinner and wine. Pros: service, food, atmosphere Cons: it's small, but...please inform patrons of bell peppers in anything. Tabouleh salad. more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE/MANAGER RESPONSE! 11/14/2007

Our firm called on October 29th to book one of the small rooms at the restaurant for our firm Holiday party to take place on Saturday, December 8th. I was told on the phone the room was available and the manager would be calling me to confirm the reservation as well as to provide me with details of the menu offerings. Two weeks later, our office still had not heard anything from the Manager or Serratto, at all! So, I just called to confirm our reservation and get the appropriate details. The manager got on the phone and at first, told me there was no record of me calling or making a reservation. Then he said he found a note with my name (I was the person who called in October) on it and a note that someone had attempted to call us back because the room was actually reserved already. We work in a law firm, the phones are ALWAYS answered during business hours and voicemail is available after business hours. NOT ONE MESSAGE EXISTS regarding the lack of reservation due to incorrect information provided by the obviously uninformed person who originally answered the phone. The restaurant was guaranteed a party of 15 guests - and they just lost their business. The manager didn't seem to care either. What a poorly run customer service business! Pros: Wouldn't know - see Cons. Cons: Customer Service - or lack thereof! more

Very fun, lively and affordable restaurant. 9/16/2007

Our night began at the bar with a cocktail and wine. The bartender, Josh, was very knowlegeable, friendly and accommodating. We chatted with the other patrons, who all seemed to be there to enjoy the night and relax. Pros: Excellent food, service and ambience. Cons: Room is a little loud. more

Absolutely perfect 8/24/2007

Went to Serratto last night for a celebratory dinner, and the experience merited a glowing review. I had only been here for happy hour (which was great) but this was my first dinner experience. Service was some of the best I've had recently - attentive, friendly, engaging, and never overbearing. Enough time was given for us to enjoy each course but we never felt ignored. They have a nice selection of champagne splits and half bottles of wine, which was really great. For two people, this allowed us to enjoy both! The food was absolutely delicious and the chocolate peanut butter cobbler with vanilla bean gelato was nothing short of heavenly! They even comped our dessert because they were out of one wine we tried to order. This was completely unnecessary but very much appreciated. The atmosphere was nice too....I have nothing negative to say and will definitely be back! Pros: ambience, service, wine selection, DESSERT! Cons: nothing....but maybe the parking situation in NW more
