Best

The food (Italian) is good but what I liked most was the way they treated my son by bringing out an Etch A Sketch and server acknowledged him. We also liked that kids are allowed...

Worst

Took former college roommates here to wrap up a day of fun. One was visiting from NYC, a semi annual event. They depend upon me to find a good restaurant. I had had drinks here...

Well Taken Care Of 1/1/2006

I would definately return for dinner time and time again. The service was very good and the food was even better. I had a duck dish that was served with gnocci that was to die for...others in the group had incredible lamb. Very nice New Years Eve dinner. The also have a private parking lot they share with a couple of other restaurants which is really handy in NW Portland. Pros: Good Parking, Nice Wine List, Reasonably Priced more

Savoring Serratos 12/16/2005

searching for superb service, fabulous food, and a relaxing venue? Serratos is the place! we've had the pleasure of dining twice in this openly cozy restaurant serving high-quality fare with an emphasis on in-season/local ingredients. match this with a commitment to service, service service and - voila! dining at it's finest. plus, Serratos offers a few rooms for intimate gatherings...a great asset for the holidays or any other occasion! way to go Serratos! more

so good i joined citysearch just to share 11/10/2005

Dined here for the first time recently, and it was a wonderful experience. As a disclaimer, we dined late, so crowds weren't a factor, but the service was as attentive and professional as any I've received in Portland. The restaurant is gorgeous, with a terrific location, space and ambiance. Tables are spaced nicely, and while I imagine it can get loud in there when it's full, it was just perfect at half-occupancy. Food and wine were absolutely delicious (though the risotto got mixed reviews) Menu nicely varied, italian fare to steaks and burgers. Great place for a romantic dinner. Pros: attentive service, ambiance, food more

Fantastic Food and Service 10/11/2005

I was visiting from Seattle to watch my brother from CA run his first Marathon. He wanted an italian place to carbo load. There were 8 of us and who knew there would be another 6000+ trying to do the same thing. After several searches from this site we found this place that could squeeze us in at 6:15 and boy are we glad they did! There was not a bad meal for anyone. Our waiter was fun and attentive. We had the sea scallops, the ravioli, the pork chop and the spagetti with pork, meatball and sausage. Not one plate had a spec left. This is a very beautiful, fun place to go as a couple or a group. The food is superb and the service just as wonderful. What a great find, and I can't wait to go back. Parking is the only issue but worth the struggle. Pros: quality/value, ambiance, service Cons: parking more

Amazing! Exemplary! 9/19/2005

My wife and I split the caprese (great) and antipasti platter (great), then each ordered a pasta: my wife, the now-gone house-made spinach ravioli with tomatoes and herbs (good, but too herby) and the ultimate penne with boar in a tomato-based braise. The penne was, without a doubt, the finest pasta dish I've ever experience. The orange hints and the richness of the sauce, coupled with the perfectly-cooked pasta will never leave my memory Pros: great food, great service, friendly more

Nothing special, not worth the price 8/6/2005

I went here last week for the first time and was less than impressed. I'm no food conossieur, but I can tell when something just doesn't tasted right. Spices were off and flavors did not mesh well together. Also, I had a chocolate coffee cake for desert. Yes, it was okay, but tasted like it might have come out of a box. Waitress was nice enough, but definitely did not go out of her way for us. Pros: Ambience Cons: Service, Food more

Good Find 7/29/2005

We had dinner with friends here last weekfor the first time. Not your typical ""theme italian restaurant"" I would say its decor is tastefully Classic Tuscan (great vibe) This is, without question, the best Italian restaurant in Portland. Very attractive/eclectic mix of customers 20 and 30ish. The staff was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The menu is a fantastic and the food is to die for. Superior Wine List. more

Poor Service 7/15/2005

I wanted a nice evening out. The service was extremely poor. The food was adequate. They brought out the wrong dish to my sister - upon request, the order was returned, but while that was done, my dinner got cold while I waited for my sister's correct order to return. After all of that, both dishes were added to my bill. I asked for the manager/owner, and he promptly took care of the problem, but the waitress got upset with me, and demanded that I should have taken care of the problem with her instead of the owner... I am sorry, if I have a problem, I am going to someone IN CHARGE... Pros: Ambience Cons: Parking, Service more

Food was Excellent 6/14/2005

Great food. Had the Wild Boar and thought it was very good. The service lacked its punch. Drinks were great. I hope they bring back their grilled romaine salad soon! That was an amazing dish that would make me come back again and again, if my bank account would let me! Pros: Great Pastas, Drinks Cons: Parking, Service more

Amazing Food 3/23/2005

We were treated to a wonderful evening out with a group of 8. Not that I would recommend this place for groups, but they were able to take care of us with the same level of service I would expect for a much smaller table. But who cares about service when the food is so good and you are able to pair your meal with just the perfect wine from their extensive list. Way to go Serratto! I finally found an Italian restaurant that stands out in NW Portland. Pros: Food, Service Cons: Parking more

Serratto is not Cafe 6/20/2004

Mingo, although I hear rthey are both owned by the same person. My only experience with Serratto was great. The service was supurb and very attentive. The food was good, although I'd probably order something different the next time. I had a Pasta dish with Wild boar. The dining room is brighter, {although not as rustic} and a lot more spacious than most other places along NW21st. And it sure doesn't seem as noisy. A better place to take a date so you don't have to scream to hear each other. Serratto seems to be a tad bit more expensive than the other Italian places that line NW21st Pros: Great service, Cozy more

The Best Spanos in Town 8/28/2003

A great place in a great space. Serratto is one of the best dining experiences. The bar is exquisite. Kurt, the erudite bartender, makes you feel cozy and welcome. He makes the best Spanish coffees in Portland. A notable plate, the short ribs are a generous portion with mashed potatoes, very good. Comfortable couch and seating upstairs. Their ""little bites"" menu is varied if you want to snack and have a cocktail. For example, they have a great cheese plate, and an olive plate. They are very generous with their bread, too. Pros: space Cons: parking more

A great find lost in northwest... 8/13/2003

With all of the hoopla about all of the great restaurants in northwest, Serratto deserves some attention as well. The Italian food I had in Italy wasn't this good...risotto is to die for, lamb melts in your mouth...the only thing slightly below par was the dessert menu, could have been a bit more thorough. Service was good, and excellent management in place. With all there is to offer in northwest, this stands out of the crowd. Pros: italian cuisine, risotto Cons: parking, dessert more

Why bother? 4/28/2003

Wanted a good dinner and nice night out. Service was inattentive and just kind of cold. Yes, cold, like my asparagus. Hard, overcooked potatoes... My boyfriend liked his meal, but nothing at all made us feel like we'd ever choose to go back. In a neighborhood with so many choices, I can't figure out what keeps this one going. (The guy who filled the water glasses and scraped the breadcrumbs off the table was great.) Pros: bread crumb guy, lasagna, wine list Cons: wait staff service, food must sit around, blah atmosphere more

Friendly Staff, Great Bartender 3/20/2003

We stopped by for a few drinks before dinner. The staff was very friendly and bartender sure knew how to mix a good drink. The appetizer menu wasn't much to rave about but I will definitely go back for dinner. Pros: Friendly Staff, Great Bartender more

Amazing! 12/28/2002

What a great place for a romantic dinner. We salivated over the Short-ribs and were ogleing the Ceppo. We said ""Oh my God, try this."" after each bite. We will return for sure. Nice staff. Pros: Nice ambience, Amazing food, Good lighting Cons: Service more

Grazzi 10/29/2002

Serratto is great! I love going there for a glass of wine and some of their ""little bites"" in the evening. It is a special treat. I've only been to dinner a few times, but each time the food has been excellent and so has the service! more

Delicious Italian Food 8/6/2002

Went for a late night drink and a little bite to eat, and i was suprised at how accomidating the staff was at 11:00pm on a Mon. A great late night menu, fantastic drink and a relaxing atmosphire. I would recomend Serratto late night to anyone. Pros: Great drinks, late night menu, awsome staff Cons: music too mello-late, alittle too dark more

GREAT!!! 8/1/2002

Great place to go with family and friends. Best real Italian food in town, very friendly service and nice ambience. We go there at least twice a month. more

The Right Spot 5/21/2002

A place to go for a special night w/friends or family. I have been here three times in the last several months and always left feeling completely satisfied. The service and quality levels of food are impressive, but my favorite part is the warm vibe the acutual space evokes. Consistent performance is what I look for in a place and Serratto is achieving that. more
