Called Schmidt Mechanical with a/c problems. Keith came out gave a quote witch was a great price. Put in unit and found duct work that was separated and fixed it for no charge....

My A/C was not cooling called Schmidt tech, Bryan came out said my compressor had short to ground.. it was dead... quoting ( like a dead baby in a box ) I was shocked..... he...

I was satisfied with Schmidt Mechanical Group's work. They installed a new air conditioning unit in my house. They were great with communicating with me, and when the service technicians came by they were on time and got the work done in an efficient manner. We had a couple of issues, but they were able to work it out. Now the unit works fine. more

Called them on Friday, early afternoon. They said they couldn't get to me until Monday afternoon. $60 diagnostic charge to come out. I had no heat in my gas furnace. Over the weekend, I found a red light blinking 6 times. Chart on furnace said it meant that the ""electrical polarization was reversed"". Monday afternoon repair man shows up. I tell him what I found about the 6 blinks of the red light. He looks everything over and says I need a new thermostat. I asked if there was a way for him to confirm that? He looks around some more and says ""these wires here were reversed, it should work fine"". It was fixed. He goes out to his truck and comes back and says ""that will be $134!"" I said ""WHAT?"" It had been 30 minutes since he arrived and he misdiagnosed it at first - after I had correctly diagnosed it, then tells me it was $60 to diagnose and $75 to ""FIX""! The diagnosis WAS the fix. I wasn't given an option to spend $75 more to fix it. more

Rusty did a great job explaining the options and recommending a solution. The customer service manager and installation tech were very courteous and professional. They got my new unit installed quickly and with minimum disruption to my household. I am very pleased with the whole experience and will recommend Schmidt to my friends! more

Caveat Emptor 9/29/2014

As an experienced maintenance and facilities manager plus owning multiple rental properties, i can honestly say my service call was a total scam. The cleaning consisted of spraying the outside unit with a garden hose with no cleaning agents. The tech tried to sell me on two components, a contactor that the actual contacts showed less then 10% wear and a capacitor that was within 2% of spec. The prices he quoted were four to five times what I normally pay. RESPONSE FROM Schmidt Mechanical Group, Inc.: Dear Mr. Freeborn, Thank you for your feedback. We pride ourselves on great customer service, and we will definitely use the feedback you provided to better the overall experience we leave with customers. The majority of the time, a simple rinse with water will remove all dust and debris that has accumulated on the coil, but if the technician finds a pitted contactor or a capacitor outside of the allowable tolerance, it must be replaced. I called after hours with an issue with my unit. I had a returned call within an hour and someone was scheduled for the next morning. I was very appreciative that someone was there to take my call and respond in such a timely manner. I would recommend the company to my friends without hesitation. Good and quick response 9/25/2014

I tend to be someone who rates people highly, but they did a check for leaks in the roof the first time they came out and found no leaks, and then we come to find out a week and a half later that it's all leaked out again because there was a leak that they didn't protect the first time. But they did come back out quickly, and they did a good job as far as following up, and I think they credited us for what we paid for in response to the leak they missed. So it was good that they responded so quickly, but not good that they missed it the first time. It ended up being a lot more hassle, more heat in the house, that kind of thing. Great Experience. 9/24/2014

This was the first time I worked with Schmidt Mechanical Group, and it was a great experience. There was an issue with my air conditioning unit. They were able to identify what was wrong, and they replaced the piece that was broken. As far as their customer service goes, they were very quick to respond. They also did the job quickly, and everything went smooth. I would recommend them. more

Good work but too expensive 9/22/2014

I hired Schmidt Mechanical to do work for me and they did a great job. I needed them to do more work, and wanted to hire them again but they were more expensive than another company we had found to do the same work. I called them to let them know that we had a bid for the same work for $1000 less, so I gave them a chance to do the work for less but they did not want to come down. I am happy to hear my firm does great work. When the technician quoted you a price it was our rock bottom price. Certain practices and measures have to be taken when repairing and installing new a/c systems. If another company quotes the same scope of work for $1,000.00 less, corners are definitely being cut. We feel our pricing is very competitive and when we leave a home we back it with a 1 yr. warranty and we stand ready 24/7 to take care of any issues that may occur.
