Possibly racist waiter 7/28/2010

Will never come back. The service is quite poor and possibly even racist / ageist. We were there for a weekday lunch and there were a few other patrons. The waiter, an older guy with grey hair, initially took our order. While he was doing so, I get a sense that he was looking down on us. My spouse and I are in our mid-30s with children at home and people of color, dressed semi-formal. However, we never saw him again as he handed off servicing our table to the greeter. Our table was the only table he decided not to service. All the other tables were filled with middle-aged white people. Very disappointed. Cons: Bad service, snobby waiter more

Will never go to this place again 2/1/2010

If you are asking for bad services and disrepct for the customers, this is the place to go. The owner is a jerk. He treats customers like a nazi. There is no friendliess and kindness in this resturant. The place is always empty. I wonder why. Do not go to this place. Trust me. more

Best Italian restarant in Los Angeles 1/30/2010

I have eaten here regularly since the restaurant opened. If you want real Italian food expertly prepared by a a real Sicilian (not middle eastern) chef, you won't be disappointed. No doubt Jenny K left and ordered a pizza from Dominoes since this appears to be more her style. If you want real, quality, Italian food, this is the place. more

Definitely Coming Back 3/26/2009

I went to Palmeri the other night and had a wonderful time. Scallops, handmade garganelli pasta, and colorado lamb chops were all wonderful. And don't even get me started on the cannoli. My date had the flourless chocolate cake, which was also great, but in my opinion, this is the best cannoli outside of Italy. Service was great. My only complaint was the room was a little bright. To JennyG: the chef at Palmeri is Sicilian, not middle eastern, and I thought the portion size was just right--not elephantine like the cheesecake factory. Pros: Cannoli, lamb, pastas Cons: can't think of any more

Skimpy Meals - Go elsewhere! 12/5/2008

I was wondering why toscana across the street was packed while palmeri was empty. I decided to try it anyway. While the food was tasty there meals are skimpy and more the size of appetizers. If you are hungry and want a meal don't go here. This is the type of place you leave and then want to go order a pizza afterwards because you are still hungry. I know it's hard economical times right now..but come on..i'm not paying this restaurants bills to get a couple skimpy pieces of pasta. I will never go back to this restaurant. The other italian restaurants in the neighborhood like La scala give your Real portions. And the chef is a cocky middle easterner who told me to go across the street to the restaurant toscana after i complained. Good business guy.. i give this restaurant 4 months. I'll laugh when i see that it's closed. Pros: good tasting food Cons: meals are skimpy portions and are not worth the money. The meals are like appetizers more

Excellent Italian 9/23/2008

I think this restaurant is truly what other Italian restaurants should aspire to. My only complaint is that they don't have an amarone by the glass and my grandmother and I can't drink even a half bottle. Beyond that, this is one of my favorite dining destinations in Los Angeles. Pros: Food, Service, Parking...One of the best places I've been Cons: Not an everyday eatery more

Great ambiance, nice waiters, good food - what more can you ask for 3/12/2008

I went here for dinner with a friend on a Sunday night, quiet little Italian place. Loved the ambiance and decor, the waiter was extremely nice and gave us excellent wine recommendations. Their Swordfish wrapped prawns are amazing, the best thing we had that night. I would definitely come here again and recommend this place to all my friends. Pros: excellent serivce, great decor, easy parking, good food more

Melt in your mouth Gnocchi! 10/3/2007

Although I was afraid that my friends had overhyped this restaurant, I'm afraid they didn't fully do it justice. This has to be the best Italian food I have had in Los Angeles. The homemade gnocchi was absolutely amazing baked with tomatoes and the freshest mozzarella. They also have a pretty extensive wine list for all of you wine-o's out there. Do yourself a favor -GO HERE. Pros: Very nice waiters, excellent food, nice atmosphere more

Comfort and Knowledge! It's not always about where you sit! It's about the FOOD AND SERVICE! 5/29/2007

Great experience. Went on an off night because of a friends birthday. Food was great and so was the service. Our waiter Robert recommended all the things that we had on the menu and was correct about everything. Burrata, and a duck ragu pasta. Lovely. I will second, the best cannoli in LA! I've been in the restaurant business since I was 15 years old. It's good to find a place in this city that makes you feel comfortable and that there is still a love for food and guests. Pros: Wine list, food, service, ambiance, comfort Cons: location more

Brentwood's Finest Italian 11/3/2006

The Swordfish Wrapped Shrimp Prawns will win you over followed by the most awesome Short Ribs. Desserts are very good! Pros: Fresh made Italian Food Cons: Parking can be full but normally available behind the Restaurant more

awful service - similar food 9/8/2006

i would not even recommend this restaurant to people i didn't like. upon walking in, we were seated at a table that was so poorly lit we may as well have been eating in a storage closet. after sitting for 20 minutes without being spoken to, let alone greeted, a waiter arrived asking us if we were ready to order. food was passable at best. upon receiving the check, we noticed we were charged for a desert we did not order (we clearly were not sticking around for desert to begin with) the restaurant staff and host, et. al., made not a single attempt to amerliorate our disatrous experience. (please keep in note that i have been kind in this review)\r more

Fabu Italian 6/20/2006

Everything is fantastic in this restaurant. Some of the standouts are Short Ribs, Swordfish Wrapped Giant Prawns, several really good pastas. Best Cannoli anywhere! more

A true gem. 6/6/2006

I kept driving past Palmeri and finally went in for dinner one day. It was great. I had the grilled shrimp wrapped in thin slices of swordfish laid on a bed of fresh arugula with a delicious citrus sauce. My boyfriend had the lamb which he said was great. I went in again a week later and this time had the roasted organic chicken --- this confirmed that the first time was no fluke. The food is excellent. For any of you who are wondering where this place is, it's accross the street from Hamburger Hamlet and it used to be a Koo Koo Roo (nothing wrong with KKR but the space has come a long way). Pros: Food, Service more

Absolutely Wonderful 1/24/2006

I took a few buddys to Palmeri after taking my wife one night. I must say it was a great and different experience each time, a date with the wife and a dining and wine extravaganza with the boys. I was told to let the chef and owner Ottavio Palmeri to go ahead and serve us a 6 course dinner. We started with scallops with micro greens, from there we received his beet salad, followed by a combination of two pastas a tortilloni with tomaoe two cheeses and guanciale""pork cheeks""incredibly light and delicate along with seafood ravioli in saffron and shrimp. Then black seabass from Maine that was out of this world, followed by his Manzo, beef short ribs, my god! Pros: great service more

Great new place 8/24/2005

Just ate lunch here. Get the word out this place is a new one to watch. The Fritto Misto at $10 is a steal and one of the best. Can't wait to try more. more

Very Nice Italian, Westside 7/14/2005

With all the Italian Restaurant Choices along San Vicente, Palmeri stands out. The Swordfish wrapped Giant Shrimp is the best anywhere and several other dishes are outstanding. Pros: Parking in back Cons: Traffic on San Vicente more
