As a homeowner walking distance to this new Sushi restaurant, I was so pleased to see a new addition to the growing food scene at our Queen Anne hilltop. The look of the place wa...

Expensivo! 10/2/2002

Food was good and the decor was oh so Londonesque, but the food was way too expensive. I recommend you cross the street and head to Chinoise Cafe. The food is better and it's less expensive. more

Good sushi value 9/26/2002

Best eel roll I've ever had. The sushi combos are really good deals. And the chocolate calzone was very good. Definitely recommended. more

O my Ototo! 9/24/2002

This is absolutley my favorite sushi restaurant in Seattle. They have swayed me away from the others with their gorgeous food, friendly service and great prices! Pros: great prices, super fresh seafood, beuatiful decor more

Actually tastes as good as it looks 9/23/2002

after reading the reviews i had to try it and MAN it didn't disappoint. the service was super fast and friendly, and the food was absolutely delicious. to top it off, the food presentation was top-notch - the spicy tuna roll was served in the coolest arch! please don't let this place go under - go go go! more

all the time 9/22/2002

It's great, fresh and groovy. We eat there about 3 times a week; We would 6 or 7 times a week, but that would be kind of weird and embarassing. more

Best in Town 9/22/2002

A ginormous experience!! 8/29/2002

In a dashing attempt to melt modern to traditional sushi, Ototo has marvelously succeeded. With a calming yet bold atmosphere, charming service, beautiful, delicate food presentation... what a wonderful thing! When you walk into the door you are immediately greeted with the friendliest of faces, including the dynamic, talented sushi chefs who will eventually light up your day with the perfect melange of flavors. I can't say enough about the food. There is no dish that will do you wrong. Even the owner will come greet you with her pleasant face and make sure your life at Ototo was absolutely suberb. Thank you Ototo!!!! What an experience to brag about!! Pros: Reaonable prices, Creative chefs more

Delicious and nicely presented dishes! 8/27/2002

Owner(s) have paid a lot of attension on how to serve their customers. Food is not only fresh and tasty, it is also very nicely presented. Very uniquely designed sushi plates, serving plates/bowls, sake bottle/cup and menus. Servers will kneel down when taking orders from customers and that really makes me feel like being treated as a guest. The interior is simple but contemporarily designed (the white wall at the front door). more

great taste and presentation 8/24/2002

Best sushi we have ever tasted. Beautiful presentation of delicious food. In addition to sushi there are lots of great entrees. Pleasant, attentive service, clean atmosphere make this place one of our favorite places. Pros: great food Cons: can be noisy more

Great...but how 'bout some hip music?? 8/21/2002

Best sushi in town. Decor is great. Service is friendly. But how about some more upbeat music? Sade is about as funky as it gets. I'm not talking hardcore music, but a little, Kruder Dorfmeister, Theivery Corporation, or Zero 7 in the background would be great and welcomed change. Pros: Fresh Fish, Interesting dishes, Great presentation Cons: Coma inducing Music more

Fabulous Art... I mean sushi!! 8/8/2002

Wow... i forget where i read it, but Ototo was compared to a Mondrian painting. Well, whoever said it was right! From your surroundings to the sushi, everything about this place makes you feel like you're part of a work of art. The decor is fabulous... and the fish is not only fresh and melt-in-your-mouth, but beautifully prepared as well. The staff is warm and helpful. And to boot, Ototo's not going to break the bank! more

Cool design and great food 8/7/2002

This restaurant has a very modern design. Their dishes are like art work. Staffs are friendly. Must try the fry tofu salad. Pros: Good Parking more

Trust me! I'm Japanese. 7/27/2002

I am Japanese and I have been to a lot of famous sushi restaurants in Japan as well as N.Y. and L.A. The quality of Ototos sushi was as high as top sushi restaurants in Tokyo and their menu was much more creative than Nobu in N.Y. (though I never liked Nobu). All the dishes were perfect and they looked like modern art. I especially loved their huge lobster tempura roll. The design of the restaurant was super modern and stylish, yet it had a Zen feeling. At a sophisticated restaurant like Ototo, servers are often snobbish and cold, but service at Ototo was very friendly. My friends and I expected to receive a huge bill because of their great food and service, but we paid less than $20 per person. Im glad that I dont have to wait for a table for hours at I Love Sushi anymore. Pros: creative menu, reasonable prices, friendly service Cons: a little noisy more

Succulent Sushi... 7/17/2002

This is a great find! From the food to the service, the decor to the menu, your in for a treat. Marco, my sushi chef, was friendly, helpful and turned out some excellent Hamachi, Sake (Salmon), O-Toro, Maguro, Albacore and Mackrel sushi. The fish was extremely fresh, w/ a clear 'glow' and radiance that only the finest quality sushi exudes. Our Miso was rich in ingredients and was some of the finest I've tasted. The spicy tuna roll was presented in a half dome caricature, emphasizing Ototo's focus on high end, professional presentation. Anna our server had a super cute attitude, was highly attentive and put off great energy. I will be a regular... more

A fine night out for sushi! 7/10/2002

Nine of us dined this evening (July 9, 2002) at Ototo Sushi and we were delighted. The fish was very fresh (in particular, some of the best saba I have had) and the pieces of sushi were generously sized. The other items (vegetable tempura, miso soup, hamachi roll to name a few) were well prepared and very flavorful - not to mention beautifully presented. Our food was delivered promptly despite us being a group of nine. Kudos to our waiter, Andrew, for being very attentive and friendly. Andrew took very good care of us, plus he was kind enough to provide separate checks. We will go back! Pros: Food, Service, Location Cons: A bit noisy more

great food and great service 5/22/2002

Last week I ate at the restaurant across the street from Ototo and as I peered into the restaurant I was taken aback by the white starkness of the place. I was certain this was a snooty and expensive QA sushi spot. I was wrong. Although Ototo's decor is minimal to say the least, the friendliness of the service and congenial atmosphere leaves you with a warm feeling. The stash of highchairs indicate families are welcome (not my thing but it leans away from snobbiness) and ALL the waitstaff were very friendly (not just our server). The tasty food is served in crafty earthenware with great presentation- we had a wonderful tofu/mushroom appetizer, lightly fried chicken dish with some delish eggplant, three sushi rolls (fresh and good) and , our server mixed up some ginger and green tea ice cream together for me. THAT alone was worth the trip. Yum. Pros: very friendly service, good quality, nice presentations Cons: minimalist decor more
