As a homeowner walking distance to this new Sushi restaurant, I was so pleased to see a new addition to the growing food scene at our Queen Anne hilltop. The look of the place wa...

See Through Sushi 3/3/2003

Although the fish is extremely fresh, the pieces are wafer thin and they are over-priced. Don't go if you are hungry. Pros: tasty fish Cons: expensive more

ONe of the Best 2/28/2003

This restaurant offers everything. Great service, friendly staff, Fresh fish and moderately priced items. I am happy to find this restaurant and it will be visited often by my friends in the near future Pros: Great Interior, Mod Price, Service Cons: Loud, Reservation recommend more

Disappointing 1/21/2003

It was a disappointment. I ordered Combo A and Spider Roll. The sushi were dried and tasteless. The solf-shell crab in the Spider Roll was burnt and very tiny and looked more like a spider than a crab. I could not even make out what it was when they waitress brought it to the table. more

Yuppie Sushi 1/13/2003

Are the folks on Queen Anne so starved for Sushi that they would actually rate this place higher than a 3 or 4? Somehow this place got trendy, I tried it based on the rating in CitySearch. The waiter didn't have a clue about Sushi, the portions are small (you can see through the tuna) and, of course, they are over priced. Saito's, Shiro's, or even Nikko's are not that much farther away and worth the trip. The 3 of us that went there will never go back. Cons: overpriced, overrated more

Amazing Presentation 12/29/2002

Although the interior is stark, the presentation and service of Ototo is beyond words. Although the standard fare of nigri sushi may be pricey, the special rolls are not only amazingly beautiful and SO FRESH they melt in your mouth...AND the price is so reasonable. Spicy Tuna is presented in an acrobatic style. Then the dessert menu has both traditional fare and a few fusion entrees. The chocolate calzone is a chocolate lovers dream. more

Not for real sushilovers 12/13/2002

I'm from Japan and I know what the best sushi tastes like, and this is NOT the best! Are you kidding? Have you ever had real sushi? There are many other places you should be going for better food! more

Succulent Sushi 11/27/2002

This is the best sushi in town. Great atmosphere, great food, great service, great prices...great everything! more

Fantastic! 11/20/2002

I've definitely found my favorite sushi restaurant in Seattle. Great atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff, and the chefs are outstanding. Price is reasonable and the sushi is absolutely wonderful! Pros: atmosphere, fresh product, attentive more

Ototo Sushi: Absolutely FABULOUS 11/14/2002

I am not overstating it when I say that Ototo Sushi served up one of the best meals I've had this year! If you enjoy Authentic Japanese cuisine then you'd better reserve your table at Ototo Sushi. Their dishes are unique and creative (the Ototo Roll is a must) with delicate flavours and using the freshest ingredients. The restaurant's ambience is contemporary casual and the service is very friendly. But the highlight is the food. From superb sushi to light and fluffy tempura, I was full, satisfied and impressed. A word of advice: leave room for dessert - the chocolate calzone and Mango & Soy Mousse are mmm mmm good! Pros: Fantastic Food, Great location, Nice ambience more

Modern 11/10/2002

Excellent sushi and a modern atmosphere make this a great luncheon place during the week, and an elegant first date for those who can handle raw fish. Pros: clean, moderately priced, great staff Cons: parking difficult, crowded more

Wretched fish 11/8/2002

I just had to write in here to refute the glowing reviews. I have been to Ototo three times (hey, it's local, and I'm patient) and twice received that limp, chewy (in a baddd way), not-fresh sushi usually found in airports or the mid-west. Much was inedible. Also, the atmosphere is truly so-so & does not redeem the food. more

Are you kidding? 11/8/2002

romantic? is this a joke? plastic tables and chairs are not quite romantic more

Exquisite Food & Service 10/28/2002

I have been frequenting this establishment for several weeks now. I make it a point to go once a week. The food and service are consistently excellent and words truely do not do them justice. I have introduced all my friends to this gem and they all really enjoyed it. more

Mod/hipster setting, but service was MIA 10/21/2002

This was the first time my friends and I went to Ototo. We had heard great things, specifically from Citysearch. The sushi and atmosphere were great. Not too busy the night we went. However, to get beverage refills, the correct sushi order, and soy sauce were all up to us (with a lot of nice complaining). It was a good thing I wasn't paying or the tip out would have been $0.02. Good style and sushi cannot make up for poorer service than at a gas station. Pros: Modern atmosphere, modern presentation Cons: Expensive for quality, Poor (archaic)service, poor seating layout more

Disappointed! 10/9/2002

I can't believe it has so many reviews with 10 points! I was so disappointed! The food is just ok even though the sushi cook dress with shirt and tie. I don't appreciate they put the salad into a small glass. The dressing goes into the bottom. You can't mix the greens with the dressing. The service is not good either. The waitresses were not very friendly. I hate the way they serve the sushi. They put all the sushi in one plate, then you need to pass around the plate to find your own sushi. Too many fancy but impractical ideas. Pros: clean Cons: no parking, terrible service, ok food more

Yummm! 10/8/2002

I was visiting from SF and stopped by this place and was a treat. Excellent service and great presentation. Fresh sushi and fun menu. I couldn't decide what to order. Pros: food, service, decor Cons: nada, nada, nada more

Forget the Hype 10/7/2002

This was one of the worst dining expeiences I have had in a long time. The service was horrible to say the least. The staff has no clue what they are doing and attitude to boot. The food was good but not excellent. I ordered the monk fish, a cooked entree, which came out cold. We also waited 45 minutes for DESSERT! Please train your staff otherwise you will be out of business soon. Pros: good food Cons: poor staff more

Put Ototo on the top of your list! 10/6/2002

Seafood Miso is a must. Chef's special selection was a treat of the freshest sashimi I've had in Seattle. Chu-Toro and O-Toro were out of this world. Easily on par with the tuna you can pick up in Tsukiji, Tokyo's fish market. I had a sake called the Village's Pride. All I can say is EXCELLENT. Spicy Tuna roll was spicy!?! and the spider roll was tasty. Ototo will be on the top of your list if you go. Make reservations if you plan to go on a Sat night!! Pros: Really Fresh Fish, Friendly Staff, Great Sake Selection Cons: Slow Service, Crowded, No Place To Wait more

Neither here nor there 10/4/2002

There were previous reviewers who glorified this restaurant, but I wasn't too impressed about a month ago when I went. The service was polite and attentive, but the actual food did not impress me. Perhaps it was because we ordered mostly sashimi. The sashimi served were mere slivers for the price and cut sloppily. In addition, in the decor, they're trying to go for minialism, but the tables look like outdoor white picnic tables...I'm being harsh, but I felt that I was misled... Pros: Good area, Good atmosphere, Good service Cons: Expensive more

Good sushi with minimalist decor 10/4/2002

Ratings are subjective and it seems like every neighbourhood teriyaki house gets a 10 here but Ototo provides good sushi and sake in an interesting space. Service is good. Pros: sushi more
