New York Best Movers came highly recommended to me from friends at my office - when I called, the guy who answer the phone (Mike ) had this quick respond type of representation (t...

I end up paying $ 2000 more than 8/18/2010

We used ALL INCLUSIVE'S sister company in New Jersey. Although the estimate I recieved from ALL INCLUSIVE wasn't the cheapest, it did include 4 men and all moving/packing material. (My last move with another company yielded a $300 charge for packing material and 3 men.) This move was for a 2 bedroom apartment, packing everything and moving. The 4 men started the move efficiently, then slowed down as the minutes ticked. I guess they got hungry because at one point I went to the bank to withdraw some cash (to feed and later tip them) when my wife called me to inform me that the movers were raiding the refrigerator!! Yup, these animals were helping themselves to yogurt, chocolates (Christmas gifts) and bananas. Now mind you, I tried to be courteous and made them coffee and informed the foreman of the team (Joshua) that I would be giving them lunch. I guess that wasn't enough. As we started to unpack boxes we discovered broken items. The movers literally threw a mish-mash of items in boxes: shoes with dresses; small TV with jewelry box and figurines. We even found one box with our Bose system thrown in with what was a still full cup of coffee. Can't make this stuff up! Do yourself a huge favor and don't use ALL INCLUSIVE for your move. This company does not deserve to be in business. If I could have I would have given this rating no stars. more

Not honest, not trustworthy 8/18/2010

Don't use http://CertifiedMovers.net, which should be called Certified Movers/ Furniture. They were very nice on the phone and they were on time for the move itself. But unfortunately everything else was a disaster. They broke my bed in their storage facility. They broke my dresser. They broke my bedside table. The bed and table are beyond repair. They packed all of these items themselves. Now they want to pay me $0.60 per lb. They "included" extra insurance for my move into storage and then tried to charge me for it again on the way out. The storage prices were outrageous and the moving fees were a moving target. They even wanted to charge me to throw away the furniture they destroyed. I have moved cross country 4 times - I have moved 9 times in the last 10 years and I have never had to work with such an incompetent and gouging moving company. I had heard horror stories about movers in NYC, but the last 4 moves here have been no problem. This time I was moving from NY to NJ so I wanted to use a company licensed in both states. Big mistake! Flatrate is the epitome of the bait-and-switch dirty moving company. Everyone you speak to sounds so "decent" and yet your stuff arrives broken and you pay more money than you ever thought possible. more

Don't trust these nasty people with your belongings! 8/18/2010

hh! This place just totally creeped me out, and I was actually considering using them. I went on their site to check them out after reading some reviews online. It offered a free online quote. I was skeptical about that, but decided to click and see what happened. Well, I guess it's my fault for putting my real phone number down, but I didn't finish the quote process. I saw that I had to indicate how much stuff I had and realized that I wasn't quite ready to do that - I hadn't yet made my own inventory and I was unsure about keeping a few large items - I decided to finish the quote later. I never asked them to call me. My phone just rang and it was http://CertifiedMovers.net movers. The guy - named Paul, I believe - said he was calling about the quote I requested on their website. I told him that I hadn't asked them to call me and was surprised that he was calling about a quote I hadn't even finished filling out a request for. His reaction is the main reason I am bothering to take the time to write this: "well, that would be a stretch if you hadn't finished the request and I was just calling you anyway, now wouldn't it?" How patronizing! I hung up on him, and my phone started ringing again from the same number. No thanks - moving is pressure enough, I don't need some condescending guy calling and telling me what I have or have not done. I already thought that their "policy" of giving a high original estimate, followed by a significantly lower one after the customer complains (as indicated in many reviews on yelp, for example), was pretty sketchy. This pushy, aggressive sales tactic sealed the deal for me. I'll be using someone else to move next month. more

Who Approved them?? The Big French mistake in New York 8/18/2010

I've dealt with them twice, and both times I had things stolen from me. They were very nice on the phone, the truck was attractive, and the representative seemed sweet, but I got ripped off. They agreed to one price and Whoops the "real" rate turned out to be vastly different - and told me basically that I couldn't do anything about it when I complained. Stay away. Really. more

HORRIBLE MOVERS -SCAM MOVERS 8/18/2010

I was attracted to this company's http://CertifiedMovers.net with no hidden costs, and the woman who came to my apartment to give me a price was efficient and seemingly knowledgeable. I paid extra for artwork and fragile items to be "crated", and expected my things would be treated with care. Instead, large artwork and glass items were not wrapped at all, and as a result, several things were broken in my move. The worst thing that happened though was the loss of my 8' tall fig tree, which I had nurtured since it was small and was attached to. It must have been left on the street when the moving van departed, as it was not to be found either in my new building or my old one. I found customer service at Flat Rate very disinterested, to put it mildly, in the loss of my items. In fact, they were downright hostile. Ultimately, I was given 60 cents per pound for my things, which amounted to less than half of the tip I gave the men (given before I realized the breakage or missing plant, of course). more

SCAMMERS # 1 IN NYC - MISSING 2 LAMPS { ANTIQUES $ 25000 8/18/2010

I was really impressed by the way in which http://CertifiedMovers.net handled the pickup and packaging of my possessions in New York. However the delivery in Phoenix was terrible. The guys delivering kept on delivering to me the possessions of other people who were on the same truck! http://CertifiedMovers.net subcontracts their moves to outside movers, they told me if they see a FlatRate sticker on a box, they figured it was mine. In the chaos, and the disassembled furniture that they left behind, one box of probably our moved valued possessions was not delivered. I have no doubt that the movers gave the box to someone else who decided to keep our treasured things. In the ensuing weeks, the customer service rep totally blew me off, lied to me about the efforts she was making to track down the box, and really didn't do anything until I ask for the name of her manager. It was really disheartening. http://CertifiedMovers.net's quote was almost $400 more than any of the quotes that I got with other movers, and I went with them because I trusted their salesman and thought that I was going to get a quality, hassle-free move. I was wrong. I strongly encourage you to think twice about using them as a long-distance mover. more

Unprofessional long-distance movers and horrible customer service 8/18/2010

http://CertifiedMovers.net was fine for our local move but beyond HORRIBLE for our long distance NY-FL move. The NY-FL move involved a lot of furniture. Flatrate packed it up themselves per their own requirements. We packed the smaller items. Much of the furniture that http://CertifiedMovers.net packed was DESTROYED (the delicate china that we packed ourselves was fine): solid marble table chipped, mahogany captain?s chairs completely broken, antique tables crushed beyond repair (they were stuffed into the truck underneath heavier items so of course they were crushed), cherry bedroom headboard soggy from a leaky truck or storage facility, sewing machine damaged ? I could go on and on. It was a nightmare. They brought the items in 2 shipments (not what we contracted for ? it should have all arrived at once), they did not re-assemble my furniture as promised, and the movers were unapologetic (?You?re not gonna like this? as they unloaded broken piece after broken piece of furniture?). In the interest of fairness I will say that our local moves went fine. But due to the awful experience with our long distance move I would never, EVER, use this moving company again ? because the friendly voice on the phone when you book your move is the total opposite of the terrible service you?ll ultimately receive. (And, no, I have never written a review of any company before- but this was just so bad that people should know. ) more

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE 8/18/2010

http://CertifiedMovers.net TOTALLY hounded me on the phone to try to keep me as a customer! After repeatedly asking for a quote over the phone because my move is not a big deal AT ALL (I'm moving down three flights of stairs to another apartment in my building and all they have to do is move 5 things), they kept denying me the ability to get a phone quote and persisted on forcing an in-person appointment on me. So I gave in and set one up because I figured I could cancel no problem... F*** me, was I wrong. After getting an extremely cheap quote from another company, I called to cancel with http://CertifiedMovers.net The woman on the phone tried to convince me to keep my appointment, then transferred me to the sales manager who told me that he's trying "to protect me" from other moving companies (wtf? Okay, thanks DAD). So I told him I got a quote for less than $300 from another company, and he then transfers me to another dude who won't let me cancel and decides to give me a phone quote for $305 (after putting me on hold, of course)- AS IF I wouldn't remember the competitive quote I just told to the sales manager. NOT TO MENTION, the entire time the sales rep was on the phone, he was bashing other moving companies and trying to basically scare me into working with him. After I said I really wasn't interested AT ALL and would just like to cancel, the sales rep proceeded to ask me why i chose the other company, the name of the other company, how much was the actual quote for, if it's only $25 less why not go with a more reputable company like http://CertifiedMovers.net, make sure they didn't charge you taxes because they can't charge tax on moving, etc. etc. JESUS H. CHRIST if I had known they did that to their customers over the phone, I wouldn't have even dialed their number in the first place. more

rip-off 8/18/2010

http://CertifiedMovers.net came highly recommended from several friends, so we thought we were going to go with them without spending time shopping around. We called and scheduled a meeting, very friendly. We stayed home an entire afternoon on purpose and the guy never showed up. We called several times and he never returned the calls. They called us next day and sent somebody else. We thought we were quoted a high price so we inquired with another dozen company; Flat Rate ended up to be the highest. We called again and they said the price was not negotiable, not very friendly this time around. They were not flexible on the schedule either. I reduced the things to be moved, sent another email and never got a reply. I gave up. I thank them now though, cause I ended up going with somebody else who provided a super service on a holiday at 40% less ! My one star is the average between the 5 star rating they have and the minus 4 I would personally give. So long. more

overpriced 8/18/2010

We did a NYC - SF move in July; based on a friends recommendation we went with Flat Rate. A few other movers had better prices but the staff was professional and they seemed to have their act together. We didn't have too much (no furniture), but had some valuables (art, electronics, antique carpet) so, just to be safe, we paid more to get extra insurance on the move. Movers were clean and efficient on both ends. However once everything was unpacked we found many items that were damaged that could have been avoided. The paintings were in a "secure crate" but were not wrapped when they were put in so two frames were chipped. Office chair had a busted wheel. Torn lamp shade. Cracked bookshelf. Irritated but nothing that couldn't be repaired. Until we saw the carpet - two 3" tears. This was an antique that had been in the family for decades. 4 months later we finally get the assessment from http://CertifiedMovers.net. Denied on the carpet. Denied on many of the others. Approved for 475$ in damages. Conveniently enough the deductible for the insurance - 500$. If you don't care how your possessions get to you, feel free to go with Flat Rate. Otherwise find a better option more

Worse Experience EVER 8/18/2010

I was recommended to http://CertifiedMovers.net and I was reluctant to pay top dollars but than in the end I did. They also told me that it would NOT exceed the original cost that they gave me but then to my surprise it did. It is just so frustrating that after all these confirmation emails and also after they did the inventory survey in my apartment and they still charged me about 20% more. It says on the truck FLATRATE??????? My stuff was going to my storage and they threw my stuff the quickest they could WITHOUT ANY protection after I was assured by the a very charming sales guy that it would. I was trying to reach him to help me before it gets any worse and they kept switching me to the dispatchers who apparently couldn't help me. After seeing what my furniture went through they had the audacity to tell me that the gratuity was mandatory. I thought going with the company that has been around for quite some time I would be OK, but I guess not. FLATRATE proved me wrong. The overall experience is a sadly regrettable one and please stay away. more

AN OK EXPERIENCE WITH THEM 8/18/2010

This was the single worst moving experience of my 18 years in the city. Yes they were on time. However the packing job done at the pick up by the foreman left a $500.00 chair worthless. The problem - he packed it unwrapped in a box with a wrought iron table completely damaging the finish on the wood chair. At first he denied it -said it was like that when he picked up. Then he said "it would come off with water." Then he admitted he packed it poorly. Problem - insurance deductible is $500 so if you opt for insurance and a screw up like this happens, youre liable regardless. So the overall charge was an additional $500 to us, not the "Flat Rate" promoted by the company. They attempted to pay us off with a $100 courtesy check. We cashed it and will talk trash about them as often as possible. Simply sloppy, discourteous employees with no sense of customer service whatsoever more

AWFUL. Broke items, rude. 8/18/2010

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! I'd give them no stars if I could. The head mover was incredibly rude to me. First, they were 45 minutes. They didn't ask me where I wanted any of my furniture in the new place and just started placing it randomly. When I asked them to move pieces, the head guy was horrible. They also damaged my furniture irreparably. The head guy didn't properly secure the drawers of my grandmother's antique dresser, and when he took it off the dolly, all the drawers fell out. My heirloom dresser is ruined--scratches all over it--and he scuffed up my brand new floor to boot. On top of that, when I asked him, in tears, what happened, he said that nothing happened!!! He tried to act like he had done nothing wrong, then he tried to convince me that it was MY fault. He finally confessed after five minutes of me crying. They also dirtied and ripped the base of my bed, which is cloth. My other furniture wasn't damaged as badly, but it was all terribly handled. After four months of harassing their "insurance department," they did cut me a check for $350. Not anywhere near what my grandmother's dresser is worth (was worth, before they ruined it), but I guess it's better than nothing? Bottom Line: They were absolutely horrible. Don't trust these nasty people with your belongings! more

A costly and disappointing experience 8/18/2010

I called and spoke to a man named Alex who apparently has no idea how to judge what a move will actually take. I made my appointment more than a week in advance and carefully explained I lived in a 6th floor walk up and described the amount of stuff I have. Alex said no problem and we set a time for 2:00pm on Friday, July 31st. I left work early to meet the crew and NOBODY SHOWED UP until 4:45!!! Unfortunately that was not the worst of it. Then the crew of three men told me that it was a four man job and they would be leaving!!!!!!!!! They said call the dispatcher (Alex) and he would find someone. Well, Alex couldn't find anyone to do the job and never called back! Leaving me high and dry one day before one of the busiest moving days in the country--let alone NYC. NOT RECOMMENDED FOR THE FAINT OF HEART!? more

Horrible Company, Non-Existent Customer Service 8/18/2010

If you really care about your furniture, don't use http://CertifiedMovers.net! We recently moved from NYC to San Diego and had to deal with extensive damage, negligence which resulted in loss of two moving boxes (here goes your favorite cloth!), and misleading information which caused the insurance company not to pay for part of the damage. http://CertifiedMovers.net refused to offer a partial refund for all the trouble and loss (and there was plenty) and was not willing to accept responsibility. And although we liked the all-in-one price, we didn't like the dirty, disgusting, fluid stained blankets in which they wrapped parts of our furniture. Overall, a most disappointing experience that resulted in substantial monetary loss despite extra insurance. Flatrate is not even worth a single star! more

patronizing and sketchy, and we never even got up to the "moving" stage! 8/18/2010

http://CertifiedMovers.net seemed appealing to us because they guaranteed a flat rate with no additional fees. We came to an agreement with Flat Rate for a fee and a pick up and delivery on a Thursday. After they got our credit card information, they called and asked if it could instead be picked up Thursday and delivered Friday. We agreed. Then they asked if they could pick up Fri and deliver Sat. We agreed again. Then they changed the Saturday time - two more times, we agreed to both. They asked AGAIN to change it to the morning, and our building was unable to accommodate that ONE time. Then they asked if they could pick up Saturday and deliver Sunday night. After we told them this is not possible, they told us if we wanted any of the original dates we agreed on we would have to pay extra. They avoided our phone calls, said they would return our calls and never did, and took days to get back to us between each new move in time. They pulled a typical bait and switch. They jerked us around for a week straight, until finally we went with another moving company. Save yourself the headache -- moving is stressful enough, if you are going to pay you might as well go with someone who won't put you through hell. more

Worst and Most Unprofessional Moving Company - Everything from being Late, Furniture Damange to Overcharge 8/18/2010

http://CertifiedMovers.net lost 5 boxes of personal belongings/furniture along with a lot of damage to many, many pieces of furniture including antique and vintage items and electronics. I paid extra for insurance of $5,000. I received notice that my insurance claim was denied and the company is issuing a 'courtesy' check of $150.00. This is totally unacceptable. In addition, the Customer Service Representative was rude when I called upset over my losses and claim denial. She completely lacked sensitivity and remorse regarding everything that was damaged and lost. Although I paid for $5,000 worth of insurance, she advised me that I did not take out enough insurance!? In addition, the quality of service was so bad, this was probable cause for the damages and lost items. On the day of the move, the drivers arrived 3 hours late. We were told that there would be 4 movers; we only saw two - the Foreman and one inexperienced young man who did most of the move by himself, as the foreman ran up and down to bring the boxes up. I supplied FlatRate with photos of the damages and provided proof of the 5 lost boxes of belongings. Their denial of my claim and a 'courtesy' check of $150.00 is a slap in my face. This experience has not only cost me much stress, but I will never be able to recoup what was broken and lost. more

Terrible Experience with Flatrate 8/18/2010

I moved yesterday and chose this horrible moving company after thinking I was getting a great deal from Sam. They took of advantage of me.Sacha,Sam AND THE OWNER WERE ALL LIARS AND DISRESPECTFUL! GOVALDO the mover in charge damaged all my furniture intentionally!! PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY..YOU WILL REGRET IT! THEY ARE UNPROFESSIONAL AND CROOKS!!!! more

Resting on laurels 8/18/2010

This is a company who makes a low bid on a long distance move and in the middle of the move decides to increase the moving fee 50% beyond the agreed contract fee. When I objected to the fee and asked them to uload my furniture.http://CertifiedMovers.net.The mover took off with my furniture aboard without my consent. The dispacthers name was Louie. Beware because they promise you a smooth move and deliver a devastating blow with this scam routine. They came to my house on 05/7/10 and I still do not have my furniture. Before hiring this company I visited the BBB Better business bureau which had no complaint information on this company and was accredited by the BBB. When attempted to file a complaint with the BBB. They refused my complaint because this was being investigated as a criminal complaint. I thought the BBB was to protect the customers but It appears they are protecting the Bad guys like http://CertifiedMovers.net. I would like to hear from others who have to shares my experince with the same company. I would like to get my furniture back and to put the word out about this company to prevent other companies from using this company. Please donot use this company. more

DON'T RISK IT. 8/18/2010

After leaving a $200.00 deposit and were told we can get it back if we call 2 weeks prior. Well we called to cancel due to a family crisis 3 weeks before the planned move. NOTHING.. NO MONEY. No Respect more
