Caring and understanding 6/22/2020

I want to thank all the staff at Kindred. They are wonderful people. Katie in RT especially, she’s my girl. They are all caring and understanding. They listen well. They take good care of you. The RT department is amazing. They got me off the vent when it seemed like it couldn’t happen. And Donna came and prayed for me to start eating. And Beebs really encouraged me and somehow got me to eat. If it wasn’t for them, I probably wouldn’t have started eating. If it wasn’t for some of the really special people here, I would have given up. I was very close to giving up. Now I don’t have a trach and need very little oxygen. After a little bit more rehab, I will finally be able to go home. I would definitely recommend Kindred. more

Good people 6/19/2020

I would definitely recommend this hospital because there are some good people that work here. There are so many I want to thank. I especially want to thank Michelle the nurse who was so kind to me. And Trisha the. Patient Advocate who helped me hang in there when I felt like giving up.. And Robin the case manager who had to basically force the VA to do what they were supposed to do to help me go home. So many of the staff helped me get to the place where I can go home. They even trained my family on how to take care of me at home. I have been at Kindred so long I feel like I’m part of the family. I will miss them. AND I’m so happy I’m finally going home. more

Miracle workers 6/12/2020

I would recommend this hospital because they treat you with respect. They get you up right away and start working on getting you functioning again. They don’t waste time. The Respiratory Therapy staff are excellent. They were miracle workers and got me off the vent to the point of getting the trach out. The nurses are very nice and they know what they’re doing. When I got here, I was coming out of being sedated. I was delirious and scared. I couldn’t really move my body. The staff were kind and helped me feel safe. Gradually, I came back to myself, got off the vent, and even started walking! Thanks to the help of everyone at Kindred. Now I am going to a rehab program to get strong enough to finally go back home. The virus almost killed me. I very lucky I have had so many good people to help me come back to my life. more

Good care 6/10/2020

I came here to Kindred because my daughter and son researched and decided this was the best place for me to get the care I needed for a major infection. I’m glad I did come here. The care is good, especially if you have something to fight off. I want to thank Lilly, Germaine, Nick, and Debbie... and so many more that I can’t think of their names. I would definitely recommend this hospital. more

I got a lot of help 6/10/2020

I would recommend this hospital because I have been here twice, and both times, I got a lot of help with rehab. Everyone here is very nice. I want to thank the whole nursing staff. I also appreciate that it was quiet and not too hectic. It was hard not being able to see my family, but we talked on the phone, and the staff were very understanding. Kindred is definitely the hospital to go to when you need good care from good people. more

Getting my needs met 6/1/2020

I would recommend this hospital because of the overall experience of getting my needs met. I was able to get physical and occupational therapy, plus excellent treatment for my wound. AND, the Respiratory Therapy Department got me weaned off the ventilator and my trach removed! I would like to thank Andrea the wound care nurse, Debbie the night nurse, Harley the nurse on days, Pam the nurse supervisor, and Michelle the dietitian for the overall information and education. And Trisha for helping me talk to my family face to face, and for providing me with information when I needed it. I made so much progress here in a short amount of time. And now I’m finally going back home, just in time for my son’s birthday! Thank you everyone! more

They took care of everything 6/1/2020

I would recommend this hospital because they were attentive, they were aware, and they shared things with each other at shift change. They were good about bringing me things if they thought I needed it, like mouthwash, or ice chips, or a comb. Everyone was efficient and took care of everything. Each nurse or tech who came in my room didn’t miss a thing. I especially want to thank Trisha. She went out of her way to take care of things no one else would have thought of. She connected the dots. more

Treated with respect 5/22/2020

All I can say is that I was treated with the respect that I would treat others. The staff was very courteous. If I asked for help from anyone, they were eager to help, like getting me clothes to wear and washing my clothes. When I came here, all I had was pajamas and a hospital gown. The CEO here made sure I got some clothes and I really appreciated that. I would recommend this hospital to anyone at any time. more

Our hometown place to get better 5/19/2020

I want to thank all the nurses. I know with my weight, they had to work hard to take care of me. I would recommend this hospital because it’s close to where I live. It’s our hometown place to get better. They were good to me here and helped me get better. Now I’m going home. more

Above and Beyond 5/14/2020

I want to thank everyone at Kindred South. They’ve gone above and beyond; everybody here, from the top to the bottom. They have a good team, they work together. They tried to help me with everything I needed, even the little stuff. They collaborated so well with my daughter. Jennifer the CCO met my daughter to help get my diapers here from home, since my daughter lives so far away. Just another example of many of how caring everyone here is, and how often people go above and beyond. more

Excellent care 5/14/2020

It was unbelievable how excellent the care was here. The administration were involved in my care and helped me through some challenges. Jennifer the CCO and Angie the CEO even came in to the hospital at night to deal with issues. The staff are caring; thank you to those who took the time to visit with me. A few staff went above and beyond in their care for me: Catherine the nurse manager, the nurses Kathryn, Maggie, Kay, Carol, and Helene, the CNA’s Dena, CeeCee, Jerome, Rontez, Lucas, Debbie, and Kayla, Wendy in housekeeping, Trisha the patient advocate, Nick and Matt in Rehab, and especially Andrea the wound care nurse. She has so much skill in what she does. My wounds began to heal with her help. My husband was thankful for the frequent updates from my treatment team on my progress. Because of everyone’s excellent care and encouragement, I was finally able to get rid of drains and get up out of bed, at first just standing for the first time in a long time, and eventually walking down the hall. Now I am ready to go to rehab! Thank you everyone at Kindred South!! more

A nice place 5/14/2020

I would recommend this hospital because it’s pretty nice here. I liked having a private room. The staff tried hard to meet my needs and my requests. And the respiratory people got my oxygen need down to the point I could go back to my home - and I didn’t even realize they were doing that! Thank you! more

Such nice people 5/13/2020

This is a heck of a hospital. You guys kept me alive. What else could I want? Everyone has been so friendly and good to me. What I have been through was so scary. Having such nice people around me here has really helped lift me up. I still have a ways to go to get back to where I was before the virus. But I’m ok and I'm going home to finally be back with my family. Thank you. more

It’s the best! 5/12/2020

I want to thank the nurses. They’ve been great. I’ve been to four hospitals. I would recommend this hospital because compared to the others I’ve been to, it’s the best! They have helped me get better. I’m down to needing only one liter of oxygen. I feel better and I’m raring to go to rehab! Thank you everyone at Kindred! more

A comfortable stay 4/30/2020

I had a comfortable stay here. I was a little nervous at first. The nurses and staff were very nice and kind. They did a very good job of helping me to understand what to expect with therapy and with weaning off the vent. I would like to thank Trisha. She helped me learn to talk about my feelings. I had always held my feelings in. I trusted her and I started letting things out. She listened and I felt better. I would also like to thank Nick, Gina and Corey in Rehab and Brett, Sherry and Katie in Respiratory Therapy. They helped me to understand what to expect when I leave here. I will miss all of you. Exceptional care 4/30/2020

I was hallucinating when I got here. I'm not sure why. Things were pretty bad and I was pretty rude to the staff. Gradually things got better and I was able to go to a rehab program. I realize now that this place saved my life, and the care I received was exceptional. I used to work in a hospital so I understand the hard work it takes to care for patients. I am impressed with the care I received. I even called the CEO to let her know my appreciation. more
