ok, so after spending almost FOUR hours at Janet Rufin's Parlor, I am exhausted and annoyed. First let me say that I am not a high-end client, but there's no reason for anyone to feel like they are not a high-end client - especially when one is paying high-end prices. Without making this a full-on rant, let me just outline the most frustrating points of my visit: I arrived only to be told that Janet was running late. Half an hour later, I was finally in the chair. After discussing what I wanted to do with my hair color-wise, Janet went off to mix the single-process formula. Long story short - the end result was not what we had discussed. The highlights ended up being fine. In between each process I was put in the hands of a sweet, young woman who I can only guess was on her first or second day. She hesitatingly and fearfully washed and conditioned my hair at each interval, and I felt the whole time like she wasn't doing a thorough job. In my fourth hour at the parlor, this new girl was also given instruction on how to dry my hair - and by now the whole experience was feeling so tedious it took everything in me not to jump out of my chair screaming. I don't want to be someone's lesson. The final insult was the price tag - which, I know, many of you Manhattan ladies don't even blink at - but for me, anything over $300 feels significant. I should have felt completely taken care of, and instead, I felt handed over to amateurs and given hair color that was, in the end, not quite what I had asked for. I don't want to go back. Oh, and by the way - the parlor offers a 20% discount to anyone who posts a review on citisearch, as long as you bring in a printed copy of your review. So read all these comments with a grain of salt.
