Go to Hell's Kitchen 8/1/2003

This new restaurant is a real find, if hell is anything like this, sign me up. Judging by the crowds for Sunday brunch, the gospel of ""damn good food"" is spreading fast. This is food with attitude, nothing ordinary here. I truely enjoyed the Scrambled Eggs with Lobster my first vist. On subsequent visits I discovered a delicious Walleye Hash and the all ready famous Lemon-Ricotta Pancakes. Do I dare say they were heavenly! On my last visit my companion ordered the Cyn-Ful Breakfast, it promised to be 'the most decadent breakfast around,' he was not disappointed. He had a silly grin on his face after eating the whole thing. I don't know where they get their bacon, but it sure is good. Lunch is also served, I recommend the Crab Cakes and the Chicken Stir Fry. At some point in time I plan to try everything on the menu. Pros: generous portions, unique menu items, Friendly staff Cons: not open for dinner more

best of the best 4/29/2003

Why is it that breakfast restaurants are rarely reviewed? My co-workers ""took me to hell"" for breakfast this morning and I'm still in awe of this restaurant on 10th Street. Our waiter was fun yet knew his stuff, and the toasted sausage bread he recommended was out of this world. Let's see: homemade peanut butter, homemade preserves, homemade hot chocolate (find THAT anywhere these days) and I think they said they even make their own ketchup. YEP I'll go back again 'cause if this is hell I'm not behaving anymore Pros: cool artwork, good attitude, attentive service Cons: parking (lot nextdor), not open 4 dinner more

First, and Last, visit 4/22/2003

Over 1 hour to receive lunch Monday, April 21. Our food took OVER 1 HOUR to be served. A couple came in, sat next to us, and left after 15 minutes with no server activity at all. Another table of two came in after our table of three, and were close to finished with their meals before our food came. The slow wait time was due to 'your burger is taking a long time.' Not sure why a burger takes 1 hour to prepare. I had to fetch our server from the kitchen to pay for our meal. I had asked for the check, at which point she disappeared. I found her in the prep area wiping glasses. Paying for our meal took almost 10 minutes. Have fun with that one. Good luck staying in business. Pros: Decent art Cons: Slow, Slower, Slowest more

slooooooooowwww 3/28/2003

Good thing I wasn't late for work on the day I went, or I never would have made it!! 4 other tables were busy at 9am and we waited for everything. Long wait to get a menu, long wait to get our order taken, longer wait to get below average/over priced food. Pros: variety Cons: slow service, dry food more

Not so Great 2/25/2003

The staff is nice, albeit well-pierced. The food wasn't that great, however. The pancakes were dry and the sausage was too spicy. It's also expensive. The $4 orange juice comes in quite a small glass. I wouldn't recommend this establishment. more

Breakfast finally gets its due! 2/7/2003

My first time at Hell's Kitchen made me wonder why breakfast, one of only 3 main meals in a day, has been overlooked for so long. It's probably the same realization millions made the first time they spent $2 on a cup of Starbucks instead of 50 cents at McDonald's. Having HK in town makes Mpls seem a bigger city than it is, doesn't it? I will go back again and again and again for a morning taste of that flavorful bison sausage and all the other delightful breakfast creations they have crafted. Pros: Outstanding concept, Creative menu, Great execution Cons: Disorganized service more

SPICY! 1/10/2003

My friend and I were looking to try something new and different and we found it. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the service was not too bad, but the food was VERY spicy. We figured out why they call it ""Hell's Kitchen,"" so if hot and spicy is not within your realm of enjoyment, you may want to dine elsewhere. Pros: Not crowded, Orchid w/ our meal Cons: Street parking, somewhat expensive more

Sinfully delicious 1/6/2003

The breakfast menu has a good mix of things, so everyone in your group, from the traditional breakfast lover to the more adventurous eater, should be able to find something. I had the wild rice breakfast porridge and a caramel pecan roll, both of which were really good; but especially the pecan roll, which was steaming hot with a lot of whipped butter on the side. Other items ordered at our table included a traditional breakfast served with very good hash browns fried w/onions, peppers, & diced bacon; spicy/sweet buffalo sausage patties; hot chocolate flavored with cinnamon & served in a gigantic cup w/whipped cream on top. The pace of our service was a little uneven, but our waitress was very friendly and helpful. Some items were pricey, but overall, we were happy with our breakfast. Pros: Unique food, Friendly service Cons: Some items expensive more

interesting menu, cute decor. We were not able to try the food because the service was poor. We were seated for 20 minutes and gave up. Our waitress rushed over as we were leaving! more

Hell ain't so scary! 12/21/2002

Great food, service and everything else! It's good to see some new life downton rather then another Fish house or Steak house. After all they are all the same! This is a must for anyone who likes food!! Pros: Food, more Food, and even more Food more

having fun in hell 11/22/2002

Hells kitchen is fun. The food is fab, service caring and entertaining. Saugage Bread and crab cake with poached egg yum. I love fresh food and this is the place to find it. Homemade peanut butter and jelly. Homemade cocco with homemade whip cream who does that anymore? HELLS KITCHEN Pros: nice break from work Cons: not open for dinner more

A++ Go! You'll love it! 11/9/2002

This place is great! Can't think of enough superlatives. FUN attitude (the list of don'ts posted is hilarious!), but most importantly, the food is drop dead perfect. I have NEVER, EVER had a breakfast like this. If you want cheap, go to Denny's...if you want a foodie experience, Hell's Kitchen is a must. (Besides, who's to say you can't treat yourself to a great...albiet slightly more expensive breakfast, just as you can do MacDonald's one night and Vincent on another!) I just read the pissy review below and couldn't believe it. Did this guy get up on the wrong side of the bed or what?? Get a life! Get a sense of HUMOR for god's sake! Go Hell's Kitchen...I hope you guys do great, and from the crowds, I'm betting you are! Pros: food...yummmmmm, fun servers, best coffee in town Cons: slightly pricey, but worth every penny more

purgatory 10/22/2002

Overpriced, uninspiring fare, flabby service and unwarrented attitude marked my first and last visit to this cartoon-ish joint. First thing you see when you walk in is a long posted list of things you can't do or get at Hell's Kitchen. It's supposed to be cheeky, but it's more like a vision statement. more

hello, hell's kitchen! 10/17/2002

we were on our way to keys restaurant and walked right past hell's kitchen, stopped, turned around, and walked right in, got sat, ordered and had utterly amazing food. i've never been to a place that served fresher food. it was fabulous, and although the atmosphere doesn't fit the name at all, it was amazing none the less. we'll definitely be back. more

I've died and gone to hell! 10/10/2002

Is there a better breakfast in the Twin cities than Hell's Kitchen? No. Better food? Not that I've found. I am admittedly a breakfast fan and rate Hell's Kitchen primarily on its breakfast menu, however, I can say that everything I've tried has been fantastic -- the freshest eggs, intriguing and wonderful sausage bread, joyously fresh fruit -- all with service and style to match. I'm encouraging all my friends to go to hell('s kitchen). A few words of advice for those new to Hell's Kitchen: 1) the menu is like the ambiance -- it's just little different (toasted sausage bread?!? -- what?) But you'll find yourself pleasantly surprised - be adventuresome. 2) Amazing food costs money. Would you like to pay less? Sure. Is it overpriced? Not in the least. I'd pay more for food this good. (I'd pay it less often, but I'd pay it.) more

Hades n' Hash 10/5/2002

What a fun restaurant. Went there for breakfast this morning after reading some of the great reviews. When we got there at 10 there was a line out the door 8 people deep. Didn't take long for the place to turn over and we were seated promptly in the front. The decor is fresh, Ralph Steadman art and inspired art all around (you might know his stuff from certain HS Thompson books and wine labels as well as his infamous characture or Mickey Mouse). The poridge was fantastic, coffee tastey and my friend enjoyed the All-American. The bloodies are made with beer (yum) and the servers are in PJs. Only sore spot is the cost/value. They are only open for breakfast aqnd lunch and no bar, so they have to cover the lease I guess. Pros: Ext. breakfast menu, Funky Decor, Proximity to shopping Cons: Cost/Value more

awesome 9/26/2002

Cool vibe, but most of all, great food. We ate there 4 times during our weekend stay...my mother in law didn't even want to try anyplace else after we had breakfast there! Pros: fun fun fun, even our kids loved it Cons: not one in my own city more

oh so good - but... 9/17/2002

Oh. Breakfast looked good/tasted good. I found everything asthetically pleasing: the glassware/the food/the waitstaff...but when my 15 dollar bill arrived I started to doubt my experience. I have since tried to get friends to join me - but no one wants to dish out 20 bucks for breakfast. Pros: location, delicious Cons: price more

Great spot! 9/17/2002

I fully agree with all rating except for service. We stopped by on a Friday about 1PM and were in somewhat of a hurry....at least trying to stay within 1 1/2 hrs. lunch time frame and we felt the service and attention to detail....water, refills & napkins could have been better. more

First lunch encounter 9/17/2002

Food was ok, atmosphere was great, but the price I thought was a little steep for what I had for lunch. Pros: Friendly staff, quick service, Nice atomosphere Cons: Pricey, small portion more
