We had two birthdays yesterday, and out of several suggestions, we decided to go to Crow to celebrate. My partner called earlier that morning to make a reservation for 4 at 7:30 ...

STILL INCREDIBLE!!! 8/24/2005

My husband and I just got back in town after a year away from Seattle and headed straight to Crow (I've been dreaming about the chicken wrapped in Prosciutto ever since I left). From the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly by the hostess who showed us to our table and gave us menus. I looked around and was amazed to see so many familiar faces! I still recognized every server, bartender, and most of the kitchen staff. What's most amazing is that our server not only recognized us but also remembered our names!! Following a brief "catching up" with our server, we ordered our food and a bottle of wine. I, of course, ordered the chicken (with a side of potato cake) and my husband ordered the fish special (seared black cod with bok choy and black rice). The food was even better than I remembered it!! For dessert, we shared the apple cobbler and a piece of German chocolate cake. Amazing!! From start to finish, our dining experience was fantastic. We are so excited to be back in Seattle and equally excited that Crow is still our favorite restaurant. Pros: Delicious food! Wonderful staff! Great experience! Cons: None more

Great Experience! 8/24/2005

We were seated promptly at 6:00 (per our reservations) on a Friday night and immediately had a waitress at our table taking our drink orders. When the drinks came we ordered appetizers and within 10 minutes received those. The main courses arrived within 10 minutes of our party completing the appetizers. It was a little loud, but it was a Friday night, and all of these places with high ceilings are loud, so we all knew what to expect. The prices were *very* affordable, and the food was superb. Pros: Friendly Service, Prompt Service, Superb Food!! Cons: Noisy more

Excellent food, not so excellent service 8/17/2005

We were in on Monday night and yes it was busy as it always is. The food was amazing and the new pork dish. WOW! The best pork I've had in a long time. We usually sit at the food bar but there was no room so we sat at the regular bar. What a mistake that was. The bartender on Monday nights is horrible. He is nice enough but the service sucked. We waited about 20 minutes for cocktails and we were sitting right in front of him. He is more concered with what is happening on the floor than the bar. And we actually heard him yelling at the staff! How unprofessional can you get! Next time we will wait for the food bar. more

My new fave local spot! 8/3/2005

I'd been wanting to go to Crow for some time now and had dinner there last night. It's my new fave local spot! I don't know what people are talking about with the negative reviews on here. My date and I arrived without a reservation and the friendly hostess was quick to find us a cancellation and seat us rather quickly. I had the fish of the day and my date had the famous chicken. The food was amazing. The fish was cooked perfectly and had lots of flavor. The prosciutto wrapped Chicken was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Very good. We will definitely be back to Crow...and we'll make a reservation next time. Pros: great food, service, cost more

My New Local Favorite 7/27/2005

What's not to like? High execution, large portions, reasonably priced, comfortable atmosphere and sincerely nice servers. I never had chicken so juicy and flavorful... and that skin! Other entrees worth checking out include the pork loin, pan seared halibut and tenderloin over romaine. Salads are a strong part of the menu and are a meal sized. The fellow in charge of salads and appetizers is an absolute artist. Crow's wine list is impressive with a good selection of local wines. Desserts are made on the premises and are substantial so they would be good for sharing. Pros: chicken, pork loin, salads Cons: likely wait more

Chocolate Cake.... what dreams are made of. 7/18/2005

The dinner was great, the service was friendly and the chocolate cake made me wish I started with it first... Incredible!... Pros: Chocolate Cake, Service more

Highlight Dinner of Weekend Trip 7/11/2005

This is a charming neighborhood bistro that I found trying to navigate the Seattle restaurant scene from Chicago. The evening of, our group doubled in size minutes before the reservation. I phoned to see if we could be accommodated, the host said she didn't think so, but immediately PHONED ME BACK in the middle of the Friday dinner rush to tell me that she could do it. When our group arrived, the host was absolutely gracious. She recommended the chicken, we tried it and the special, a halibut...in a word, FABULOUS. The slower pace was perfect for our dinner and highlighted that dining out is an event, the food, wine, conversation. Dessert, creme brulee and profiteroles weren't the best I've had, but good. Overall, this dining experience stood out and when compared to the guidebook favorites, aka Seattle institutions located in the Pike Place Market, Crow blew them away. Pros: Helpful Staff, Comfortable Room, Good Pace Cons: None more

Slow Crow 6/28/2005

Our reservations were for 9:30. We sat down at our table at roughly 10:15. Our entrees were served exactly an hour later. The sauces were verbose and didnt compliment the meats, neither mine nor my girlfriends. This was also true of the vinegrette that was served with our oysters. All in all, I felt the price was very reasonable and the vibe was fairly good, and I might give them another chance if I had a group of friends I wanted to catch up with and have a very slow dinner with lots of chat time. Pros: price, atmosphere Cons: parking, food more

A welcome addition! 6/24/2005

I agree with another reviewer here. All of these negative reviews are surprising, but I think people tend to forget about writing good reviews. So, here it is. Crow is FABULOUS! I met the owners while walking by when they were building the place last year, and they were extremely friendly and hospitable, as is the staff they hired. I've been to Crow more times than I can count and have NEVER had a bad experience. The staff is attentive, the food is amazing and extremely well priced, and the rotating menu keeps me going back for more. The large crowds are clearly an indicator of how good the place is and I would recommend that everyone go there, and often! For those of you who've had a bad experience, go back and try it again. And give the staff a break: quality food doesn't arrive in two minutes! more

Crow is Slow, But Good 6/9/2005

The food here is very good and that alone is a sufficient reason to try this place. THe wine list is also interesting, although the mark-up is excessive on some bottles. The service is also very good in most respects, but it is VERY SLOW. Count on 2 hours for dinner, even if the restaurant isn't full. Also, be sure to call and confirm your reservation a couple days before your dinner. Our reservation had been "lost" and we were told that this happens occasionally. Fortunately for us, there was an empty table. Pros: food Cons: slow service, very noisy more

Something To Crow About 5/31/2005

I'm surprised by how many people commented on "bad service". I have to say, SERVICE was one of the highlights during my visit to this stylish and very cozy Queen Anne hot-spot. It was a Friday night - a PACKED TO THE GILLS house - and our server was so sweet and patient. She took her time with us - as if we were the only ones in the place. She was great. Kept the wine flowing. My friends and I didn't have a huge meal - but the fresh salads, salmon, anti-pasta plate and wine was terrific. And very reasonably priced; I did a double-take when the check came. Pros: Atmosphere, Elegant Food, Price more

User review by wendyedie 5/19/2005

I've visited Crow a couple with friends. We like sitting up at the kitchen bar. We have had excellent meals on both occasions, and the service was decent but definitley not exeptional. However, I will make an exception for the hostess you did do a great job of getting us seated on both occasions considering we did NOT have a reservation. Overall I think that the waitstaff and bartenders could use some customer service skills. Will definitely be back though.....the food is outstanding and the atmosphere is nice. Pros: Food more

decent food horrible service 5/18/2005

This restaurant will probably survive because there isn't much else is around it for blocks, but the service is absolutely horrible. The prerequisite to work there must be that one is arrogant, obnoxious and unskilled at waiting tables. The food is decent and this place could be good but it seems like the owners just don't care how their customers are treated. In short, your paying for abuse and humiliation. Pros: hip decor, decent food Cons: obnoxious staff, slow service, untrained servers more

Good Luck... 5/1/2005

I cannot give my opinion about the food because, after placing a $60 order and waiting more than an hour, it never came. When I tried to ask the manager to look into it, he told me clearly that he did not care about my order and that he did not care about earning my business. This was the worst dinng experience that I have had in 40 years. Pros: Friendly diners. Cons: Incompetent staff., Truly ugly manager. more

Good food, sub-par service 4/23/2005

Our food tasted very good, however the service was not great. It was slow, and when my dining partner requested the lady be served first, the waiter refused and made an unnecessary remark. He also did not clear the table of unused items, which we had to push out of the way to make room for our entrees. Smokers went outside for cigarette breaks, and the smoke came in from the front door and windows often. Pros: reasonable food Cons: slow, hostile service more

great place 4/1/2005

crow makes you feel like you are at a hip place in san francisco or brooklyn. our server, sage, was great - friendly and funny. the food was excellent and so was the wine he recommended. food was fresh and tasty. they have a great vibe going on here. Pros: fresh fare, good service more

Now I understand... 3/26/2005

So I live right around the corner from Crow and night after night I drive by and see people waiting outside for them to open (@5pm)...but, from reading the reviews here, I was a bit hesitant to go by. However, my boyfriend and I finally went with some friends and now I understand. The experience that we had was fantastic - start to finish. The service was perfect, the gnocchi and the lasagna were as good as anything we had in Italy. Especially for the price. I'm baffled by the reviews here because everyone that we've polled since then who has been to Crow said they loved it. I guess they just aren't writing reviews. ;-) Pros: Delicious food, Good service, Romantic Cons: Need reservations more

my favorite new restaurant 3/19/2005

they've definitely had some problems with uneven service, but things are getting better and the kitchen always kicks out beautiful set. the wine list is really to die for and the lasagna is fantastic. make a reservation and avoid the intermnable wait. more

Fantastic Food, atmosphere and service 2/22/2005

I had heard Crow was good and it is. Very good in fact. All the meals our party of 4 got were fantastic. The ambiance is incredible with a nice yet rough-urban feel. The service was good too and even though our waiter forgot to bring me the 2nd glass of wine he made up for it with a great complimentary glass of desert wine. Pros: Food, Atmosphere, Service more

Won't Be Back... 2/3/2005

We had a party of nine...each person's food was served cold and raw. The explanation was that the food must have cooled on the way to our table. No offer to reheat our food, or discount the dinner. My drink was served wrong. Twice. Ambience? You can get this kind of ambience anywhere in Queen Anne. Anyone who calls this a New York style bistro has never been to New York. If you're into waiting too long for your cold food and the check; if you enjoy paying for your friend's birthday dessert despite terrible service, then by all means...go to Crow. more
