Awful service, mediocre food, and an overall atrocious experience 2/22/2007

Trendy? Yes. Unique ambiance? Yes. Excellent food? No. Good service? Absolutely not. Overall, this restaurant is horrible. I spent the past ten years in San Francisco at some of the best restaurants, and while I don't mean to condescend, it offers some insight. The night we visited Crow, we spent close to $400, and this offered us the following: mediocre food, a bland drink selection, and waiters that rolled their eyes at us THREE separate times. In San Francisco, I never experienced a waiter roll his/her eyes at me in **any** situation, and relative to the prices Crow is charging, the food was always much more palatable. We were treated like manure, and if you want the same, visit Crow. Pros: ambiance Cons: service, food, drink list more

Great Neighborhood Hangout 2/16/2007

Crow is the type of restaurant you could eat at every week and never get tired of it. They serve good food at reasonable prices and give good service. This isnt a fine dining restaurant so I don't expect as much as I would if I were to go to a higher end place. I love the chicken - the perfect comfort food! Pros: Food Cons: Parking more

Great Food...Cozy Ambiance 2/14/2007

I have been to Crow a couple of times. The food has always been amazing along with their extensive wine selection. The servers are attentive and patient. I have tasted some really unique dishes with flavors that delight my pallet. I would recommend this place to anyone going on a first date. The cozy ambiance and dim lighting will put anyone in a romantic mood. Make sure you leave enough time to enjoy your meal. The last time I was there we scheduled an hour and a half for dinner and were late to our ballet. Leave some extra time to enjoy your dinner/wine. Pros: Great food, service and ambience....perfect place to take a date Cons: Don't sit by the door...it can get drafty more

Consistently great service, tremendous food 2/13/2007

Have been in many times. Am absolutely in love with the food, and ambience, and have never had bad service (though I've never tried to take a 2-top for one person at 7pm, and have never brought in 20 friends, so who knows?) All I know is the food and service have been very consistent for me, and I wish I lived closer! Pros: Amazing food, great service, decent parking options Cons: loud more

Inflexible and Insensitive 1/3/2007

I called Crow at about 4:30 one Thursday for a reservation for one at approximately 7:00 pm. I wanted table seating, because sometimes I enjoy going out alone with a good book to read while enjoying a fine dinner. I was told they there was no table seating for parties of one. So, later that evening (about 8:30 pm) on my way to find another place, I passed Crow. I noticed several empty small tables. I walked in and asked for one of the tables (a table for two) by the window. I was told it was reserved. I then asked for another table as there were plenty that were empty. They then told me no tables were available, but I could sit at the bar. The hostess said if I had wanted a table, I should have called for a reservation. Catch 22, right? Instead of arguing, I just left and never returned. more

THANK YOU CROW! 11/21/2006

We live in the neighborhood and have frequented Crow on a regular basis ever since they opened. We are regular diners and It a rare thing to find, but I have to say, we have NEVER had a bad experience there. Everything - the food, the service, the value, the ambiance, the staff - is spot on! We were just in last night and I realized when we left that this Thanksgiving I am grateful that CROW moved into our neighborhood! more

Massive Disappointment & Incovenience 11/15/2006

Management Screws up Reservation Big Time! I'd like you to know about an incredibly disappointing experience I just had with Crow Restaurant. Around two months ago, I made a reservation for 20 people for a Saturday night. It is the second year I have booked a table a Crow for a pre-show dinner prior to an annual event at McCaw Hall. Last night, Crow's manager left me a message confirming the reservation, except it was for the wrong night! I called back and explained that they had the wrong night, and that there was no reason for me to make reservations for any night other than the night of our show (I made the reservations immediately after buying our tickets). I'm sorry to report that Crow's owner/manager was obstinate, rude and unprofessional. I was essentially called a liar (insisting I had made reservations for the wrong night), refused to consider that Crow might have made a mistake, and refused to even consider rectifying the situation (I gave him a couple suggestions which he summarily dismissed), repeatedly interrupted me when I was trying to answer questions he asked, and proceeded to treat me in the most disrespectful manner I can remember from any restaurant employee, let alone the "top" guy. Most importantly, our group was left without reservations less than 48 hours before we were scheduled to go to dinner. Needless to say, I won't be patronizing such a mean-spirited establishment again. I would much rather praise a well-run establishment than complain about a poorly run one. However, Crow's behavior was so out of line, I thought you should know. more

After reading the reviews... 11/3/2006

I was incredibly excited to try this restaurant, everyone raves about it... now I am asking myself why? Our server finally arrived got us an app then got around to our wine. Then when we were finished with our app she had forgotten our dinner order... when our food finally arrived it was o.k. The lasagna was bland and the chicken was served with lukewarm string beans. For the price and the extremely limited menu I think there are many other local options. more

I'd Fly from Denver for Crow! 10/31/2006

Actually, I have flown from Denver just to go out to eat in Seattle. First I flew to "The Goat" (The Stumbling Goat, that is), Craig Serbousek's first restaurant. Then, I flew to "Crow." Everything on the menu at Crow is simple, fresh and seasonal. The price is right, the scene is great and the staff is gracious and efficient. If you've had to wait at Crow in the past, it was probably because it was so damn popular! The last time I was at Crow it was crowded. I had the salmon and the mushroom risotto--with freshly picked morels and chanterelles. The salmon was grilled and glazed, and the risotto was rich and filling. It was all fantastic. Coming from a meat eater, this is high praise. Pros: Simple, seasonal and perfectly 'limited' menu choices. The Chef's Table in the rear is cozy and fun. Cons: The wide-open floor plan can be off-putting, but I loved the hustle, bustle and noise! more

Make reservations or dine at the bar 10/3/2006

One of my most favorite spots in Seattle- I return again and again. Delicious food at reasonable prices, friendly staff, nice atmosphere. Whenever I have family or friends in from out-of-town, this is the place we go, at least once. We've come by without reservations several times and ate at the bar, without a wait. Lane is one of the best bartenders in town and it's easier to understand why the place is packed with many loyal, repeat customers. The rotating menu always has new delights, but one can never go wrong with the pan-roasted, prosciutto-wrapped chicken--truly melt-in-your-mouth to-die-for. Give Crow a try and you'll probably find yourself wanting to return, too. more

Thoroughly enjoyed it 5/24/2006

We went on a Saturday night. We had made previous reservations and were seated immediately. The service was very good. Our waiter was attentive. The food was awesome. I had grilled prawns on a bed of succotash. Honestly, I could have licked the plate. My cohort had the roasted chicken wrapped in prosciutto, which was also very good. I'd definitely recommend Crow and will go back again. Cons: A bit pricey more

If you like oysters, this is the place. 5/7/2006

We had the best oysters here. They were succulent and had just the right texture. The desserts were excellent too. Service was good but the noise level was overwhelming. So if you're looking for a quiet dining experience, this is not the place. Pros: good food, friendly service, good wine choice Cons: noisy more

I keep coming back 4/18/2006

I lived on Queen Anne last year and discovered the excellent food and great bar at Crow. I live about 30 minutes away now and keep coming back! The menu changes frequently and always has interesting food from mussels to mushroom dishes. I love to eat at the bar and the service has always been attentive. The bar has a good variety and the signature martini is fantastic. Pros: Great Service, Excellent Food, Great Bar Cons: Crowded more

Sooooo Disappointed! 4/3/2006

Arrived with great expectations but both the service and food were great disappointments. Who runs the door here? We were greeted wordlessly. There were three empty tables near the front and we asked if we could have one. The host said No, Ill be back. Needless to say she never returned. After waiting a while longer a second person came over and when we asked the same question we were taken to the table we first requested. The next disappointment was the menu. Be warned - Crow has an EXTREMELY LIMITED MENU. Very meaty, very few choices. Settled for the iceberg salad and fish special - boring. Food was just OK barely. No presentation or style as expected. Quality and flavor mediocre. Service overall was barely adequate. This is really just a diner in a modern, loft-like setting. Now you know. Cons: Limited menu, Food Quality Average, Mediocre Service more

Sooo Good! 3/3/2006

Right from the start, the service was welcoming and pleasant. We started with the cheese wrapped in grilled grape leaf appetizer and wine. It was suprizingly good. For dinner, I ordered the lamb chop risotto and my boyfriend ordered the roasted chicken wrapped in prosciutto. My lamb was cooked just as I asked for, it melted in my mouth and it was to die for. Roasted chicken was great as well but not as great as my lamb ;) Portions were also pretty big. Unfortunately, they didn't have any chocolate dessert on the menu last night but the creme brulee was also delicious. I heard that they change the menu about every 2 weeks. Overall, it was above my expectations. We were more than full and stuffed when we left the restaurant and couldn't stop saying "that was sooo good" :) Pros: delicious food , big portions, good service more

Very good - will return 1/21/2006

Our large party dined at Crow and we had an enjoyable experience. The dimly lit interior created a cozy ambience in the warehouse-style space. Indeed Crow is loud. Large parties and hard-of-hearing beware. But it's fun. The food was very good and I was pleased that, although the prices were very reasonable, the portions were large. No tiny handful of food piled six inches high -- this was the real deal. Everything was tasty including the delish bread and olive oil. The service was not fast, nor did we want it to be. But I never felt ignored and found the two people I spoke with on the phone and the waitstaff to be very polite. Tip: No matter where you dine, if you have a tight timeline, always tell the host and the server the minute you are seated. Don't wait until it's out of their control. Pros: tasty food, ambience, Good value Cons: loud, parking more

User review by kellycarr 1/9/2006

We went with a 5:30 reservation, thinking 2 hours would be enough to get us to see the Nutcracker which started at 7:30. Unfortunatly the reviews were right about the service, VERY slow. We finally got our food at 7:10 and shoveled it down. It was a wednesday night, and not very crowded. I'm sure the lasagna would have been great as recommended, had it been hot. more

Nice food and drink but LOUD! 1/4/2006

We visited for dinner the first time last night and enjoyed the experience. The food was good but took quite a while to arrive. The server was competent, friendly and attentive. The parking was rough as the entire area is condos and apartments and I was unable to find a pay lot nearby. The atmosphere inside is great if you're with a loud group or don't mind speaking up...a lot! I was with an older lady and her friend and it was a chore to hear her. The mussels were the highlight of the culinary experience - try them! Pros: good food, cool decor, nice wine Cons: LOUD!, difficult parking more

Great Spot in Lower Queen Anne 12/7/2005

The two times we've been there, the restaurant was extremely busy so we started our evening off in the bar. The bartender was attentive and friendly; it was tempting to order dinner there instead of wait for a table. We were glad we waited for the dining room, however, because the server was equally pleasant and professional, and the food was absolutely delicious. Definitely one of our favorite restaurants in town. Pros: great food, great service Cons: parking, crowded more

User review by gingerk 9/28/2005

I enjoyed the ambiance. The restaurant is chic, but not stuffy. Food was fabulous and they have a nice wine list. My favorite part was the friendly bartender. The restaurant was busy, but the service was terrific. more
