Great Food and service.... 2/15/2009

That should just about say it. The food was excellent, the server seemed to be telepathic. He had this ability to be invisible until the moment something was needed, and he would appear with what was needed...not a question as to what was needed. The atmosphere, however, left aLOT to be desired. Cold hard surfaces...my gf said like being in an airplane...I personally like the jetsons cafeteria comparison. This is called BRASSERIE. I was expecting something more cuisine de terrior, not so much Haute Coutre tried too hard. more

My Favorite French Restaurant.. 10/5/2008

This is one of my favorite French restaurants in New York. The restaurant is located in a beautiful location. The servers are nice and accommodating, I bet they did not get their training in France to be so nice. =) I have been to this restaurant a few times and have not had anything bad. It is safe to order anything. However, my favorite dishes are the Onion Soup Gratinee, the Roasted Organic Chicken . I do not know much about their dessert, as I am always too full after my appetizers and entree. Pros: everything more

Divine Cuisine; Exceptional Service; Chef Dimnet Exceeds Expectations; 4/14/2008

Brasserie is the ulimate dining hotspot -- exceptional fare, remarkable atmospheric flare and outstanding service. I consider myself a connoisseur of NYC dining, and I cannot express strongly enough how overwelming pleased I was with every aspect of Brasserie. It is a not-to-be missed dining destination for any occasion, including a romantic dinner date, business lunch or Sunday brunch. I even recommend it for occassions such as Mother's Day and Easter. They serve an amazing prix fix meal that trumps anything you'd get elsewhere. Complements to the chef! I'm confident that every one will agree that Brasserie is out of this world. In fact, this would be an understatement. You have not dined in NYC until you've tried this restaurant. My menu selects: escargots bourguignon, beet salad, long island duck, sea bass and chocolate beignets. Pros: ALL more

Very good food on a quiet weekend night. 2/27/2008

I dined late night on a weekend. Sitting in one of the Brasserie's booths made one oblivious to the fact that the restaurant had very few patrons. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The service was efficient. The food--escargots, mussels, frites, salad, grouper and dessert (beignets and banana duo)--was very good. I enjoyed the food and the quietude. more

Good food, good service, dining room is a subterranean cavern. 2/17/2008

The food and the service is all that everyone's review says it is. The restaurant, however is cavernous--it is down a flight from the street level, and had very high ceilings. It does not have the makings of a cozy dinner for two. But as long as that's not what you are looking for, go to Brasserie. Pros: Very good food Cons: Cavernous setting lacking warmth. more

Outstanding Tasting Menu 1/6/2008

My husband and I celebrated our 40th anniversary in New York during the weekend between Christmas and New Year's Day. We had a wonderful meal at Brasserie. The waiter gave us great service and the 5 course tasting menu with wine pairings was spectacular. They ask you what you like and then the chef chooses the menu for you, and of course, the very generously poured wine is selected to best compliment the course. It was most enjoyable! Pros: The service was excellent and the food outstanding. Cons: The ambience was good but not if you want a quiet romantic setting. more

Um Um GOOD! 12/31/2007

My gf and I picked this place for our NYE dinner with some friends. And I must say we could'nt have been happier with our decision! It was a 3-course prix fixe menu, but the food was out of this world. From the grilled octopus to the golden almond duck...all delicious! The caramalized cheesecake I had for dessert was absolutely amazing. I almost ate the piece of mint too, it was that good. The regular menu is a bit pricey, so we won't return too often. But, for those special occassions though, it's WELL worth the money. Even the white wine we had was fabulous. Compliments to the chef! more

Impressive 12/27/2007

If you're looking for a great experience for your out-of-town friends, this is it. I'd gone there years ago when it was the classic 60s decor. Now, a very modern take on the old Brasserie. Make no mistake, it won't be cheap (be prepared to spend at least $100/each). However, you won't be disappointed. On one visit, we had the chef surprise us with some of his off-the-cuff favorites. Simply amazing. Though the wine selection is decent, it's best if you know what you want going in. For the wine snobs, you may want to navigate the wine list yourself. All in all, a great place. Pros: Food, Service, Decor Cons: Pricey more

Delicious, Nice, Pricey 12/13/2007

Well, you know what they say, you get what you pay for--and here you pay a lot but you get a nice dinner, nice atmosphere, and are surrounded by gentility. For a special date or occasion, this is the place to go. Pros: Lovely restaurant and good food Cons: Expensive more
