Competent and courteous service 9/14/2012

I bought my first new VW at Boston Volkswagen in 2003 and have been a loyal customer since. The Watertown showroom/shop is very conveniently located and with expanded hours, it is easy to get a service appointment that fits my schedule. The service consultants, particularly Mike Dacruz and Armondo are personable, knowledgable and considerate of your time. Will definitly continue to drive VW and know that my car and I are in good hands. more

So Bad It's Fuuny 9/22/2011

We were approaching the end of a Jetta Lease and went in to have our lease bought out and get into another car. By the time we left I actually thought I was on a hidden camera show and John Quinones (What would you do) was going to come walking out. First we met with a very nice salesman. He showed us the car we were looking for and even promised to throw in a NAV system for free. "Great!" As we were sitting at his desk with him, the service (manager?) stormed over and berated him for something. Screaming, he said "I hate this f'ing place, I hate the f'ing people....etc. All of this within one foot of my wife and I. My wife was appauled but I decided to ride it out to get the "great deal." It was late so we made an appointment to return the next day to have our turn in car appraised and go over numbers. We called the next day to see if we could come in earlier and were told by our salesman (who we liked) that he could no longer work with us because I had clicked on a "get quot more

Worst service ever 3/13/2011

I arrived there after making an appointment (web offer) with Hamil. He never showed up. After waiting for about 30 mins, Gavin went out of his way to help us. \r At the time I was supposed to sign the papers, Chris, who is in charge of financing, showed up 40 min late, with a soda in his hands, and barely apologized.\r Gavin forgot to ask me to bring some papers, which prevented from any deal to happen and should have resulted in an extra trip to Watertown. \r I considered that I had enough. I emailed Gavin and his manager, but none of them took some time to answer. more

I know what you mean. 1/16/2011

Hey! I know exactly what the poster, who was talking about the guy flying out of the repair bay without looking, is talking about. I live near these people and see it all the time. Every time I have to drive down this street their bays are on, I am constantly jamming my brakes on. They come out to fast and then jam their brakes on before they enter the street, so you think they are going to hit you. And there have been a number of times when they didn't look and the only reason there wasn't an accident is because I am cautious on this street.\r Another comment about this company, since I am on the topic. You can tell how a business will treat their customers, on the whole, by how they treat people they're not required to be nice to.\r Boston Volkswagen has about 100+ neighbors surrounding them and some of them literally at the edge of their fence.(Not me thank god.) Boston Volkswagen will start their plowing at 11PM at night and go till 3AM. This past snow storm their parking l more

Hamil is the man ! 8/26/2010

I rarely write reviews, but it was such a pleasure buying my new GTI from these guys, something has to be said. I dealt with Hamil online initially, and after a brief conversation he gave me the best price quote of all the other dealers, with no bs. When I came in for my test drive, he was very professional, everything was setup, and I was so comfortable with everything I decided to do paperwork right then.Great guy, great team and my GTI is awesome ! more

Did the right thing 4/16/2010

I had Boston Volkswagen do some work on my new car, during which some exterior damage was done inadvertently. Ronnie Sousa, the assistant service manager, took very good care of me and had the bodywork done, including a 3-day replacement car, at no charge. Of course I would have preferred not to have had the damage in the first place, but Ronnie and Boston VW did the right thing, made everything OK and kept me as a happy customer. more

Employees committ dangerous acts 9/17/2009

I would stay very clear of this dealership. Any dealership that has to monitor posts to sites like this, is worried about their actions. If they were not worried about their actions they wouldn't even look. You have to wonder how many posts here are initiated by Boston Volkswagon. Just go to Yelps site and you will start to see the bad reviews. If you look at the pictures here you can tell they are posted by Boston Volkswagon.. My story, I pulled up to Boston Volkswagon to have some minor work done on my Passat. There is some parking over on the service bay side so I pulled over to the opposite side of their bays. I got out of my car and as I was preparing to go inside, a tech came flying out of a bay without looking. He caused a car coming down the street to jam on its brakes. He spun around that car and tore up the street to I guess, their rear gate and literally, without brakes, dove into their rear entrance. I,stunned, turned around and walked back to my car. disappointment! 9/10/2009

Recently My car was vandalized and it needed many parts being replaced. I thought there is no better place to go than VW Boston to get it fixed smoothly since they sold me the car and I assumed they had all the parts and as their old client i could get extra help. it happened I had to wait 11/2 moths to get the work done. I had to call them everyday day to know what was going on, and several times they did not return calls. they did not help with insurance company, that initially I thought it was going to be the problem. I had to drive several times over there to talk to them and make sure all damages were reported to the insurance company. I spent around $400 just in rental because they never knew when it was going to be done. the worst is that I have others dealer closer from where I live, but I wanted to be loyal with them so I drove 30 minutes to them. I do not think they really appreciate the loyalty and that I brought a job of $4000 That I could take it anywhere. In conclusion, it more

Boston Volkswagen is Not as bad as everyone says... 9/4/2009

Been here twice now, once @ old location, once @ new for service issues with my vw. Folks were nice, usually returned phone calls, and fixed my car. While they haven't been 100% on the estimated finish times, a day delay this time, It's not unheard of to be out of a part or experience a delay. They do like to be thorough, read up sell, its mostly in your best interest/true need they found with your car. Do be Heads up with the sales side, When i was shopping I was shown a used jetta with 3 different tires, so that side might be a little more unscrupulous.... I'll be back just due to the proximity, and lack of a "poor" experience. Use John in service; he has been the best about communication/ return phone calls/availability.. more

I'll be back! 5/1/2009

I just had work done at Boston Volkswagen for the 1st time and asked to talk to a manager -- just to tell them how impressed I was and say thanks. He was very grateful and asked me to share my experience on line.I went into Boston Volkswagen last evening without an appointment because I had just gotten pulled over by the police for having a brake light out.All I wanted was to have a new bulb installed, and I truly expected to be put off based on my experiences with my husband's car at Jeep dealerships. But when I walked in, I was pleasantly greeted, and I felt like they were happy to see me.I didn't realize they did state inspections, so I asked if they could do that too even though I arrived near closing time.By the way, I'm very pregnant (due in two weeks) and it's hard for me to comfortably wait for anything right now, so I stood in their service drop off area and watched them work on my car. They pulled it into the inspection bay immediately, and one of the guys from the service de more

No problems or pressure here! 5/1/2009

After a day at another dealership where people jumped all over me trying to get me to sign things and commit to cars I was at best not excited about, I was pleasantly surprised at WatertownBoston VW. Bob Miller helped me, answering my questions and locating the car I was interested in. There was no running back and forth to a manager to get me an inflated price, he showed me the pricing worksheet right up front and we tinkered with money down vs monthly payment until we came up with an agreeable formula. It was pretty low pressure but all the customer service was still there. I left after my first visit to think about things but went back shortly after to sign paperwork. more

Aweful salesmen 4/29/2009

I usually don't write reviews, but felt it was need for this dealership. I recently tried purchasing a car at VW Boston. I called and inquired about the vehicles they had on their lot before visiting. The salesman fumbled with his own filekeeping system and kept me on the line waiting for 20 minutes before telling me he did not have what I was looking for. He said a similar car was coming in and I could visit that weekend to see it. We scheduled an appointment. The morning of the appointment he called and cancelled saying the car was not there and he had no other car to show me. He offered to bring the car I wanted to see in again. We rescheduled. He called me and told me that the car I wanted was in, and I should make my way there quickly. I did, but when I arrived I saw it was not the car i requested at all (diff color, features, etc). He then insisted we sit and talk numbers for a car I hadn't even seen! He REFUSED to bring the car I asked to see in unless I paid a significant deposi more

Lots of problems with my car but it was made easier by the people at BVW 9/28/2008

I've had a ton of problems with my car but the people at Boston VW find the problems fast and repair them. They are also helpful at securing a rental car so I can continue about my work without too much headache and interruption. The people are very friendly and actually care about their customers. more

Service OK Stuff Stolen 3/6/2008

The first time I took my car to this dealership and $100 stolen from my car. This dealership (service department) sucks. I WILL NOT GO BACK, even if they give me $100. more

It's Not Bad 6/29/2007

As far as Volkswagen dealerships go, this is not the best, but the hours are perfect for a young professional (they're open until midnight for repairs). They always see my car quickly, but sometimes I feel like they find the problem I bring it in for, and don't search for anything else. My check engine light comes on repeatedly after bringing it in for service. It would be nice if they could check all these things @ once so my car isn't in every other week. more

Boston Volkswagen ruined my car 6/21/2007

I recenlty had my car towed to this dealership after it had alternator problems and coolant leakage. Once my car became stranded the dealership wasted no time in scaming me. They charged nearly $1000 in repairs and as soon as I got it home, after the repairs, it started to over heat(a problem that did not occur before the service)! I brought it back the next day and they wanted to charge me $300 more to fix it saying that they did not cause the problem and that they would have found the problem the previous day had it existed then. Seeing as I live a ten min drive from the dealership I find MELTED waterpump parts to be a little more than ten mis driving's worth of damage. Now my car is worse off than it started. \r \r DON'T GO THERE FOR ANYTHING\r \r Not to mention that there was another customer there who's car broke down, entirely, after only having an AC system fixed. more

Boston Volkswagen 2/2/2007

Having owned a number of Volkswagens over the years, and visited dozens of dealers I would probably rate this one the lowest in terms of customer service. \r \r After many visits there does not seem to be a single one that I can recall without incident. Abrasive or generally unhelpful service staff seem to be the pattern. Staff do not seem to know very much about the terms of their own warranty items, or are unwilling to provide adequate information. Although their extended hours are helpful, its often difficult to get a service person on the phone, or messages are not returned. more

Great service ! 7/6/2005

I have been to Boston VW @ Allston for quite some times. Their staffs are really friendly. They do things as promised very fast and honest. There was one time, I thought that I needed wheel alignment but I ended it up only pressure for my wheel and they charge me nothing for that. I would say very good service. They also open till midnight. PROS: Good service, open until midnight. CONS: doesn't open on weekend more
