If you're looking to introduce someone to sushi, Blue C is the place to go. Many of the dishes are "safe" and easy (cucumber rolls galore!), and everything is labeled so you can s...

Sushi 8/19/2005

While sushi on a conveyor belt doesn't sound all that appealing, you should check this place out. It's a blast! There are two spots; the original in Fremont and the newest in University Village. While I've been to both I prefer the one in University Village. They have the ingredients listed just under the plate. So you won't have any surprises. Here's how it works. The sushi goes around and you just pull off what you want. When you are done you stack your plates and press the button to call the wait staff. All the plates are color coded for price (the range is something from $1.25-$4). So it's very affordable and fresh. The chef is preparing it fresh in the middle as you eat. If you don't see what you want you can also order it. Also, make a stop in the bathroom. You will hear sounds of the Japan rail station and they have a neat hand dryer. more

ok food 8/16/2005

Food is ok but price is a bit higher than other kaiten restaurants. Sometimes the fish varieties are quite limited. But the belt is always full so there is no need to wait for something too long. I like their other hot dishes. Servers are very attentive (much better than other kaiten restaurants in this area) more

sushi 8/11/2005

Blue C Sushi has a very warm pleasant and inviting atmosphere. The prices on their sushi are VERY low and affordable and it's quite tasty. I enjoy the fact that you can sit at the bar and grab what you want off from the converyer belt. My all time favorites are the fantastic tasting California rolls! more

Cool concept, not great sushi 7/20/2005

The decor and conveyor belt method for serving sushi is reminiscent of Japan, but the sushi is not. While cheap and fast, the sushi isn't very good. more

I'm a Blue C Cosmoholic! 6/19/2005

I love Blue C Sushi in the Village! It is perfect for people who are just getting into Sushi and it's insanely cheap! My favorites are the California roles, avocado roles, seared tuna, and edamame. They have sushi for both beginners and advanced sushi eaters! You must try or at least ask about their Blue C Cosmo! If you are at u-village have Asher make it for you -it is a fabulous drink! more

Fantastic Sushi 6/3/2005

Blue C Sushi is to sushi as starbucks is to coffee. They are a high quality superchain that seems to have got it right. The atmosphere is casual with a cool conveyor belt that constantly has sushi plates rotating around the chef. The plates are color coded by price so you know how much each item costs. When it is time to leave, they simply count up your plates to determine your total. They seem to be adding more and more franchises - look for them to expand rapidly. I can say for sure that the U village and Fremont stores have awesome service and are reasonably priced. If you like sushi and haven't tried this place, you need to. more

Entertaining Sushi 5/17/2005

Blue C in fremont is such a fun place to go and eat sushi. The chairs are set up in a row and you sit along a conveyor belt and watch the sushi pass by you. The plates are color coded and you just select what you want as it goes by. The chefs are in the middle and you can order sushi you don't see passing by. It's so much fun and so easy to loose track of how much you are spending as the plates pile up high. It's relatively cheap and I heard they had a great happy hour (although I have not been there yet during those times). I love the edamames and the unagi. The salmon and tuna are very fresh. Overall I had the best time here and if you are looking for a fun, laid back atmosphere you should check it out. more

bad sushi 4/30/2005

If you want to eat real sushi, I would NOT recommend coming to this place... I was completely unsatisfied by everything about this restaurant, and I would NEVER come back here. The sushi was really bad quality, and the prices seemed high considering that it wasn't very good at all. Believe me, I come from Japan, and the sushi here is TERRIBLE! more

Trendy decor, highly disappointing sushi! 4/22/2005

I was more disappointed with this place than I can remember being of any restaurant in recent memory... It's a conveyor-belt-style sushi place so you can pick your sushi off the belt as it comes by your table which is a novelty if you've never done it before - but there's so little to choose from, it's so ridiculously unauthentic, the portions of fish are neither generous nor remarkably tasty, and considering all this the prices are much too high. more

Maybe not outstanding sushi but very kid friendly 3/9/2005

Blue C in Fremont provides the a very exciting conveyor belt - it even passes by the booths in the back. They project some anime and Japanese scenery on the wall overhead. The color coded plates are great fun for school age kids. A great math lesson can take place at the table adding up the value of different color plates. You can order kid-friendly terriayki and veggie tempura from the kitchen. It too will arrive via the conveyor belt. Very crowded Friday night - go early with kids. For a special treat bring the kids for the ice cream around the corner after dinner- Cold Stone Creamery. more

Good sushi that's great for kids 3/8/2005

This restaurant is fun for families. It's got sushi moving around in little boats -- that makes it a big fan with kids. In addition, it's less expensive than most sushi restaurants, it's okay to make a mess, and the foods pretty good. So -- I wouldn't recommend this place for a romantic dinner but if you want to introduce you kids to sushi or you just want to get some sushi for yourself ...it's a pretty great place for families. The first one is in fremont and they're opening a second one in U Village. more

Unexpected and good 9/10/2004

Though we favor Chiso right up the street- we were convinced by a friend (and frankly intrigued by the gimmick) to try this spot. We found ourselves pleasantly surprised at the quality of the sushi (you can custom order things if you feel like they aren't fresh on the conveyor belt) and the price. The price is RIGHT- really. more

A Kinetic Treat 8/11/2004

The food is quite good, and quite quick, but the concept is very well-executed. Sushi runs on a track through the center and plates are ringed with color=price. Grab and go. The kids and we love the freedom to dive in and be instantly gratified in such a cool spot. There are a few innovative dishes (wasabi mashed potatoes, miso/sesame spinach) + sushi and sashimi but all of it is fine and fun. more
