Fun & Tasty! 5/19/2009

Blue C Sushi is a space aged restaurant concept, which may appeal to many, but I come for the food. The sushi is totally reasonably priced, and there is a great variety of rolls, nigiri and cooked food items. The even have a ton of vegan and gluten free options, which is especially great for the Fremont crowd. You sit at a counter while the sushi passes in front of you, press the blue light if you don't see something you want, or you would like to check out. Its super fast (if you want it to be) its right in the heart of Fremont, and they have Happy Hour!!! Pros: moderately priced, great atmosphere, great service Cons: parking in Fremont is tough more

Blue C jumped the shark 4/19/2009

""Blue C Sushi has jumped the shark! I used to like the place a lot, especially the Fremont location. But lately, they've been using very low grade fish and charging high grade prices. Most plates are the same ol', same ol' uninspired stuff. Recently they started an ""off the belt"" menu with even higher prices. I ordered the tuna poke, which was $5.25 for a meager amount of stringy tuna (lowest grade tuna) that was still VERY cold and not marinated. It seemed they had just taken the fish off ice and sprinkled some poke sauce on top. All that on limp lettuce! When I pointed it out to the server, she was uninterested at best."" You could do a lot better for sushi, even in the same neighborhood. Pros: great location, fast conveyor belt service Cons: low grade fish for high grade prices more

Come for the sushi, stay for the space age bathrooms 12/11/2008

Blue C Sushi is your standard-issue sushi restaurant with a conveyor belt and restrooms out of ""THX 1138."" If that's not standard-issue to you, by all means, stop in for some cold sesame noodles and Japanese cream puffs on a rainy afternoon, and see what it's about. Lunch is typically less than $12 a person, and I'm not kidding about these bathrooms. Pros: Interesting decor Cons: Wait times can verge on the slightly ridiculous more

fun for sure, but the sushi? mediocre 11/3/2008

If you're wanting relatively inexpensive sushi in a cool grab it, gobble it atmosphere (it is great for groups), this place is a good choice... that said, it's not worth the hour plus wait it sometimes demands (all because of its location and atmosphere really). It's almost a social experiment in reality, so even as I say the hour wait is hideous, I also remind myself that people want to be there because it's got loads of people to watch as much as you watch the food flying by you... Pros: it's possible to eat cheap if you want a light meal, the atmosphere is very people-watching-oriented, fresh enough despite bland Cons: very very crowded area with little available parking, not a lot of flavor to most of their food, a one-time experience for most of us more

NOTE: this is for the southcenter site only!! Don't go here unless u like really bad sushi 7/30/2008

I have to say there is good sushi and bad sushi (not including upscale places) and this place ranks #2 on the bad sushi establishments (sushi land southcenter being the champ at #1, i think i see a pattern). Here is a list of things that went wrong. Pros: it was at the mall and i'm lazy :) Cons: pretty much everything more

Liked it the first 4 visits then I started noticing heath concerns. 4/29/2008

Nice atmosphere. Nice place to meat friends and get together. more

You Can Do Better Than Blue C 3/13/2008

If you?re looking for below average sushi at ""cheap"" prices this is your place. The wait was 20 minutes long for sushi that was anything but special ? no one mentioned that we could go to the bar area. Wait staff was snotty and inattentive. I?ll not be going back. I can get better sushi for less somewhere else. Cons: snotty wait staff more

Quick, healthy & friendly!! 2/5/2007

My wife and I absolutely love this place. We have made Blue C our regular spot for a quick sushi fix. We both look forward to seeing Alison's warm smile during our weekly stop to the village- it is clear the restaurant has improved drastically since she has been the hostess! The staff is always friendly and helpful. Pros: Spinach gome, fresh Uni. Very clean, great staff. Cons: Usually a long wait more

Immediate gratification 1/11/2007

You can't beat Blue C Sushi for immediate fish gratification, and for value. The sushi ain't GREAT, but it's real good when you just need a fish fix. The decor at the Fremont location is pretty cool. And the conveyor belt as delivery mechanism rocks the house. The service is only okay. Pros: Conveyor belt, value for the buck Cons: service more

What a flop! 11/17/2006

Nice & trendy looking on the outside, unsuitable for a restaurant on the inside. Here's the truth, college hired/undeveloped waiters go around asking if you JUST want drinks and expect 15% gratuity? The cold foods you get sits on the conveyor belt but before then it comes fresh from the refrigerator, ha! The hot foods sit uncovered on the belt so everyone it passes by has the chance to breathe/cough/sneeze on it. And the Coup De Graace I found a sharp piece of rolled up clear plastic that resembled packaging tape that was in the back of my throat which I thought was a piece of their pickled ginger. Told the lady (poor excuse of a manager) in the dress that sat us about what I found and she did nothing. Paid full price with no comp for foreign object in food, and those blue lights aren't worth a damn. So enjoy! more

Poor Staff 7/25/2006

I am from Japan! If youre going to copy a concept do it right! First the waiter made a mistake on our sashimi order and then the hostess came over to fix the problem and she made it worse. All the staff plus manager was in front of the computer and not paying attention to the customersso why do they have the blue button!!!! They should fix the blue button to turn red after 5 minutes has passed so they know which customers were waiting longer and which ones are upset. Also the customers should be able to order straight to the chef when ordering sashimi or sushi. The chef would know what the customer is ordering instead asking the waiter/waitress who has no idea After the non Japanese chef apologized and corrected our order we had paid and on our way out No one said thank you please come again. Dont they know thats very important..people do really come back for the service. Someone needs to tell the owner that the fish stinks from the head! Pros: Bar Cons: Service more

Good quick ""mainstream"" sushi 7/9/2006

This is a great restaurant when you just want to sit and eat some random sushi. Not the best sushi by a long shot, and rarely do they have anything beyond the mainstream, but nothing to scoff at. Pros: Quick and convienent, reasonably priced, average quality Cons: Servers are a bit lax, not a lot of variety, seating and parking can be a pain more

Fresh and kid-friendly 5/24/2006

I recently went there on a Sunday for lunch. What I like: the novelty of the conveyer belt keeps the kids entertained and they'll eat the edamame and chicken; the sushi was fresh and the sesame noodles and teriyaki chicken were great; service was very fast and friendly. Not so great: the selection of sushi is limited; the dining experience feels fast-foody; parking in Fremont can be a pain. Overall for a quick good sushi bite it's great and we'll go back. Pros: fresh sushi, kid-friendly, good service Cons: parking, limited sushi options more

Neat place, friendly faces 5/18/2006

I eat here quit often and the chefs and staff are always a delight. They are always busy but manage to keep up with the flow. I espically like it that the chefs will ask you if there is something they can prepare espically for you. I think that is a great touch and I definitly appreciate it. Pros: Smiles everywhere, yummy selection Cons: Closes early more

Impressive Style and Sushi 5/10/2006

I was recently turned onto Blue C Sushi by a business associate, and I am officially hooked. It's just so hard to find a fast, good meal where you can actually sit and enjoy the scenery. If you like Tofu, the spicy tofu dish is excellent as is the spinach gomae. Lately my favorite roll has been the tempura green bean roll--great texture, and really good if they have just put them on the belt fresh. Some of the specials are good, but I wish they would keep them around longer. It seems like they are on a weekly rotation. Oh well. It keeps it interesting. Pros: Variety, Nice Service, Fast Cons: Crowded, less food when empty more

Gross, Gross, Gross!!! 4/7/2006

My hubby and I have wanted to try Blue C for some time now and finally did tonight, but it was the worst sushi we've ever had. First, the fish was way below par. The salmon was gritty, not smooth like top grade salmon should be. Second, the sushi rice was dry, not sticky. The rice fell off the rolls. Third, the seaweed was chewy because the rolls had been on the conveyor belt for who knows how long. The list goes on... If you're a novice sushi eater, sure, give this place a try, you don't know any better. If when someone mentions going out for sushi you say ""I LOVE california rolls!"", sure, give this place a try. If you want great sushi, try Shiro's, THE BEST in town, try anywhere else, but do not waste your money on Blue C Sushi, no matter what others have said! Pros: Cool ambiance..., but I came for the, sushi! Cons: Nasty food, Charge for green tea more

Always a good time 4/4/2006

I've been a regular at Blue C for over a year. The staff there are fantastic... from the servers, to the bartenders and the sushi chefs, everyone is so great! The Blue C specialty cocktails are fab and the ambiance with the conveyor belt and the lighting is exciting without being too over-the-top. The service is fast, friendly and great. The chefs go out of their way to meet special requests and I always get wonderful fish. I highly recommend Blue C :) Pros: Service, Cocktails, Inexpensive more

Fun & Tasty 3/31/2006

love the food, prices are decent, my only complaint is the seating takes forever and the hosts are never very friendly or efficient it seems. otherwise, totally recommend the place and can't wait for my next trip back. Pros: good food, prices, parking Cons: long wait, not good for groups more

Cool presentation. Ok sushi... Ok value... 12/15/2005

The decor and conveyor belt setup is noticeably stylish. The upstairs bar does offer a sushi selection for $1 each during happy hour. The service was nice, and you can just hit a ""service light button"" to catch attention - so you don't have to yell and wave. This place wins points from offering conveyor belt sushi and a bar in a cool modern environment, but sushi quality could use some work. Last time I went, I liked that we had a Japanese sushi-chef. He was much better than the Mexican and the young college girl making sushi on my 1st visit. My 1st visit = large variety + low quality. My last visit = low variety + good quality. Is it bad? No! They just need to work on balancing quality with variety. Some drinks, some sushi, and some style make Blue C Sushi worth trying! Pros: Conveyor Belt Service, Cheap Sushi more
