Ben White Automotive

I went to the Walmart at Ben White and I-35 for a quick battery replacement on my lunch break and my water pump went out on my Jeep Cherokee in their parking lot. I didn't have the time and tools to deal with it myself and knew I had to take it somewhere nearby so it wouldn't overheat. Called a few places nearby and Ben White Automotive quoted me the best price by far. Took it there at 5 pm and they had it fixed and handed me my keys by 6:30 pm that same day. Oscar was a true professional, along with the rest of the crew..... it's the only shop in Austin that I recommend to friends and family. more

I'm not sure if they're the cheapest. I haven't shopped around much. But they always tell me what they're going to do and how much it's going to cost and when it'll be done. They're usually done a bit faster and they're great to work with. The car always comes back fixed. more

The guys at Ben White are very knowledgable about my car. I went to the Kia dealership because someone had shattered my driver's side mirror while my car was parked, and they said that they would charge me $500 for replacing it. I managed to buy the part online for only $75 dollars and went to Ben White Automotive to have it replaced. They were very friendly, and they told me how long it would take for it to be replaced. 10 minutes later, the repairman was finished with the job and I didn't have to pay anything out of pocket. They also told me about the things I would have to inspect and replace when my car reached 60,000 miles and that they could do it at a cheap price compared to anybody else. The employees were very honest and friendly and I highly recommend them for any auto repair. more

I had just broken down off of S. Mopac in the blistering heat. Had my car towed to Ben White Automotive. Not only were they very friendly. they found what was wrong with it and got my car going again. PLUS, since it was a simple problem, they didn't even charge me for it. They charged my battery and brought it back to life. This is a perfect example of an Honorable and Trustworthy Service. Highly recommend them. more

I had no idea where to turn when my 06 Saturn Ion started to let off strong fumes. After doing a search of Automotive Repair shops, I stumbled on Ben White Automotive. Their location worked perfectly for me as I live in South Austin. After looking at all of their reviews, I was sold and decided to go check the place out. The men that worked there were very friendly and helped me out quickly. They did a diagnostic on my car and found that I needed a new fuel pump. Although I was upset about the price, I knew that it was fair and they weren't trying to get over on me or anything. As a college student however it was a blow to my bank account. But I digress. I left my car there and by 4 the next day, it was ready to be picked up. It drove great and no more fumes! I will definitely be returning for any problems that I have with my car. A friend recommended me to check this auto service out after he had positive experiences with the manager. I went in for myself, and they ran the codes because my car engine light came on. They told me that was wrong and there was no pressure on getting the car fixed. I told them I could come back the next day, and they trusted me. I actually came back the next day, and they took my car in quickly and spent 2.5 hours looking for what caused emission failure. After calling me to let me know that the emission canister failed, they fixed it to be ready the next day. Not only they replaced the canister, they went ahead and fixed my parking brakes to make sure the lights come off too. (I had both engine light and brake light on prior to dropping it off). When I picked it up, both lights were off. Now I'm ready to take my car in for its annual inspection. Thanks guys at Ben White Auto South! more

During the forth of July weekend my cars ""service engine soon"" light appeared on the dash. As soon as I could I considered taking my car to a shop right down the street that I and my family frequently did business with. After carefully considering other options online I came across Ben White Auto on City search which so happened to have very high marks along with high praise from those who have done business there. Although I was reluctant to take my car to another shop I gave it a shot because I was personally tired of never being given another option to a costly repair, and having to take the machanics word over my limited knowledge of what needed to get fixed and what could wait. I was pleased to find that the machanic who I spoke to on the phone at Ben White Auto was willing to give me a second price option even though the repairs were extensive. I have never EVER been given a less expensive option to a repair elsewhere. All together I drove away having spent hundreds less than I would have if I were to do business elsewhere. The staff is courteous and puts the customer first. I will recommend this place to friends and family, and will continue to do business with them. Thanks BWA! more

Unbelievable service. they treated me as a person and listen to what I wanted done and then recommended what service should be done to keep my car running and then let me decide on what I wanted done. They did not try to ""up sale"" me. We are a one car family so they set me up with a ride home and then reimbursed me for my rental car. I told both Oscar and Kevin that I have never felt this good leaving a auto repair shop before. I will never take my car anywhere else. more

They always repair what needs to be repaired and check for other things that might need repairing/replacing. They don't hesitate to tell me if I don't need something done right now. I went to a couple shops to have my truck serviced and none of the mechanics that checked my truck before repairs were all that friendly plus they were all conflicting in troubleshooting. A friend pointed me towards Ben White Automotive saying he swore by their service...so I met Kevin, and his service was nothing short of impeccable. I had my truck go through a major tuneup plus a few other needed replacements. Now she purrs like a kitten and roars like a TIGER when I give 'er power. Thanks, BWA! I was given a comprehensive list of other things that were in need of repair and the prices are all more than fair. Kevin McCollum should be sainted. Time and repair estimates were totally accurate. The best part of this whole experience was that I had gone to Brake Check on 6015 South IH 35 because of an oil leak and power steering fluid leak. I was told I needed an engine rebuild and rack and pinion replaced. $4500-$5500. It's funny how they insisted on the repairs and were hesitant to bring my car off the rack. I left anyway and went to Ben White Automotive for a second opinion. more

Had a good experience taking a vehicle there to have an extensive buyer's check done. They take their work very seriously and offered extensive advice about what they found. I can tell they were all very good folk, but on the day I went they seemed a little cranky, must have been a Monday! Regardless, I will be going back for my regular maintenance. more
