This was my second pedicure at Aveda Institute. I went for the 60 minute pedi, but I didn't notice that much difference from my first 30 minute one. I got a warm leg mask and a longer foot massage, otherwise, the same. I think they both lasted approximately the same time. I was not impressed by the person I had this time, but my previous person was excellent. It just depends on who you get. more

The Aveda Institute is a beautiful building. It feels very inviting and nice, although I felt the music was a little loud. I think it would be nicer if you could access the spa without having to walk through the hair stall area. I'm not sure if that would be possible, but it would make the experience the absolute best, in my opinion. The spa area was stunning-it felt relaxing. I really enjoyed the restrooms with the lockers, the robes and the shower/steam room area. It went beyond what you would expect to find for a spa, even at a top salon. I enjoyed waiting peacefully with a hot cup of tea before my facial began,enjoying the natural light and the beautiful pictures on the walls. Staff everywhere made sure I felt comfortable and happy. The room where I had the facial was beautiful. Normally, there is spa music playing, but that day it wasn't working properly, so the music coming through was the same as the rest of the place, but my wonderful student therapist turned it down for me. He did a fantastic job and I felt pampered. I felt like I'd had a massage and a facial! I felt like a new woman when he was finished-radiant! I plan on coming back soon and look forward to more pampering. more

I received an excellent haircut complete with a scalp massage and hand massage. The instructor worked with the student to make sure I had something that I loved. more

I had my hair colored and cut. I am very happy with the color. The cut was marginal but not bad. The only issue was my hair was not conditioned after colored and when I left it was like straw and severely dry. I had to sleep in conditioner to help and have had to be very diligent with leave in conditioner since. Just make sure you discuss conditioning properly with your service provider. more

i've gone to aveda institute about 5 times now throughout the past year. i tried a couple other salons in austin, including a regular aveda salon. the institute gives you the same quality as any other salon - if not better - at 1/4 of the price. the students are always super nice and polite. i can't recommend this place enough. the only thing is you should expect your hair cut to take between an hour and an hour and half, because they have to have their supervisor review the hair cut at different stages to make sure they're on track. more

This was my 4th visit to the Aveda Institute and the experience (as always) was fantastic. The student that provided my services was very professional and knowledgeable. The instructors are always present and involved in the services provided. Great services at great prices! Thank you! more

I had a 90 minute facial and it was amazing---definitely go for the 90 minute, it is so worth it. Also had a 60 minute pedicure...it was great as well. Great facility, nice people. Can't wait to go back. If they had one in Tyler I would be there weekly for sure. more

Student did not know what she was doing. Graduated back was a series of Bumps! Had to schedule an appt with a regular salon to correct. The guy supervisor did not seem to know either? more

Asked for back trim only, slight graduation. Student stylist didn't have a clue,asked another student to help. 2nd student started trimming ends of sides. I said "I asked that sides not be cut!" She replied "I'm only point cutting ends". (which turned out inch shorter than other side) The back that I had asked for a slight graduation turned out to be a series of "bumps",not a smooth graduation, and not at the weight line that followed the shape of my head. (Then the guy supervisor inspected the cut, I said do see one side is shorter? He made some comment like, "Oh, maybe that side curls up more?" Anyway, he didn't have a solution. This was first and last haircut at Aveda Institute for me! The other services I've had there are facial and a pedicure, which was very long and uncomfortable sitting in straight back chairs. The students have to use a dish pan for soaking the feet and are constantly running back and forth to empty water or get more water. So, even though the polish looked ok, it was not the relaxing pedi experience I could get in a regular shop for about the same price. Also, I had to make an appointment at a regular shop to have the haircut corrected. Students have to read their instructions as they go, which makes me think they don't know what they're doing. I do not plan to go back. more

I had a facial and pedicure. It was as luxurious and relaxing as any I have ever had. I have recommended Aveda to my coworkers. Thank you for a wonderful experience. more

I go to Aveda for haircuts with the same stylist about every 5 weeks. I plan to keep going there until my stylist graduates. I've also gotten a few spa services there. The students, educators, and (usually) the ladies at the front desk are friendly. Unfortunately, this time, the two girls at the front desk were actually quite rude and answered a question I had with a negative attitude. I'm a stickler for customer service, while also trying to be understanding of extenuating circumstances that may contribute to less that stellar service. On this occasion, though, I can't really think of a good reason for the un-Aveda-like service at the front desk. Like I said, I plan to continue visiting Aveda for my stylist and the occasional facial, but I was disappointed with the impression of the salon when I left this time. more

The woman who cut did my hair, left conditioner on my hair and we had to go back to the sink twice and she just laughed about it. She did not cut as I asked. the blow dry was actually partial, when she finished my hair was half wet. Very disappointing... more
