Review content:
We own a flat (shallow slope) roof ranch home in Boulder Creek (Santa Cruz Mountains). This is the worst kind of roof- leaks are built-in, and re-roof jobs usually don't last more than ten years. We have re-roofed twice in the last 20 years, and we were looking for a good contractor to install our LAST roof. Our Knox representative introduced us to the Duro-Last roof materials. This is an engineered polymer roofing material that carries an unheard-of guarantee. No leaks for 15 years, or a complete replacement roof is free. The manufacturer of this material has been in business for 35 years, and has never had to replace any of their roofs. I can't say enough good things about the Knox work crew who did the installation. Every one of the dozen or so members of the crew were skilled, meticulous experts, and true craftsmen. The Duro-Last roof is a system containing many components that are applied in layers. Prior to installation, our roof needed a lot of structural repair because of rotting wood that was caused by past poor roofing jobs. The carpentry of the structural repairs was first rate. From the time of our estimate until the end of the installation job, we had contact with four different Knox corporate officers, and they were just as competent as the work crew. All of our questions were answered in detail, and no sales pressure of any kind was exerted. In 30 years of living in the San Lorenzo Valley, this was my best experience with any contractor. I am a retired Engineer, and I watched every operation that went into the installation (out of technical curiosity). Unless a 60-pound redwood limb falls point-first from 100 feet up and spears right through my new roof, I cannot imagine how this new roof could experience the slightest leak. I feel as if a Kevlar bullet-proof vest has been shrink-wrapped on top of my house. If my readers do not have a flat roof, great! You are one step ahead. If you do have a flat roof, this Duro-Last system is the way to go (unless you just like to buy a new r
