Staying at 60 Thompson is a great example of paying for pure hype. Our room looked like some set designer's idea of what a hip Soho hotel room looks like. The crowd at the bar (on a Sat night) was pure bridge and tunnel. And to top it off, our room on a freezing night in March had no heat. Half a dozen calls to the concierge yielded one threadbare extra blanket (when we asked for a good blanket like the one on the bed, the bellboy sniffed at us, ""We don't have any extras of those!"" Seriously!). We checked out, still freezing, at 1:00 am and they actually had the nerve to charge our credit card. Stay anywhere else. Pros: good bath products Cons: nonexistent service
