Neat Historic Theater 8/21/2005

The Lakewood Theater is a historic theater in the Lakewood area. It’s got a style that the newer theaters don’t have. There is a balcony, but it’s not always open. The theater is open for concerts, special movies, and other random events. I live near the Lakewood Theater, so I can keep an eye on what’s coming up by reading the marquee each day. It can range from Henry Rollins' Spoken Word Tour to Old School showing at the midnight movie, to Gay Bingo. It has an old theater marquee that you rarely see anymore. You also can't miss their neon tower at night. My only complaint is the small bathroom. There are only 3 stalls (ladies), so the lines can get pretty long during intermissions. Prices vary depending on the event. At one recent movie showing, admission was only $1. For national acts, the prices are about average. more
