I like to give places the benefit of the doubt. This review is based on ONE visit, so take it as you may.
I ordered a gyro and my girlfriend ordered a falafel. We got what I interpreted as puzzled looks from the man taking our order. He spoke w/ the guy-in-charge type person and that guy knew what we meant.
Pizza seems to be the main thing here, but their slices behind the glass looked pretty horrid. One in fact was grey and very obviously not made today. No way that thing was made today. I worked at a pizzeria for 4 years while going to college, so I know.
We got our meals. Well the gyro meat was almost beef jerky, It was sort of a John Wayne WWI in a trench type meal but I'm a guy so I ate it - High five.
Now on to the falafel. Whew, the falafel themselves where black. Yes, black. Ok, I know there are regional differences for falafel so I urged my girlfriend to continued... For one bite. I don't know what was up with that thing, my only explanation can be, well I don't know. I figure age would make them hard, but this one was like toothpaste viscosity inside and black but not really crunchy on the outside. I just think no one had ordered a falafel here in quite a while.
Well, the only redeeming thing about the place is that they have beer, free WiFi, and the inside is very nice. One of the nicer pizza (er... and falafel) joints I've seen. Too bad they don't get that food situation sorted.

The inside is really cool with a modern looking wall comprised of golf ball sized grey and black stones. I noticed one larger rock has "Veritas" engraved in it. Curious, maybe the owner is a Harvard grad :-p
The food is really great. Some of their entrees look almost unaturally fresh and brightly colored, but I don't suspect that is the case.
My favorite dishes are the sweet and sour chicken, beef and broccoli, and any lo mein meal on the menu is great. The lo mein is some of the best I've ever had.
SH has really friendly and personable staff. Also note that delivery orders are generally very fast in my experience. I'm 4 blocks away.

What I like best about Dr. Rhoden is that he's a perfectionist and does everything in life to the best of his abilities and that comes across in his clinic.
His office is the most high-tech I've seen. He uses lasers for many procedures and there are flat screens above each chair were you can see your procedure in progress if you so choose.
Even for a cleaning I was mildly anesthised which I didn't think I needed but it actually makes the experience a whole lot better. Why have something hurt if it doesn't have to?
I physically chipped my tooth and went in to get a crown. Before my procedure began I was fully briefed on what was going to happen each step of the way.
When I first got in the chair I was given a few minute shoulder rub by one of the dental assistants to get relaxed. Then she held out my arm and rubbed my shoulder and thats when I got my shot of anesthetic - nice trick, but it sure worked! Everything went very well.
The walls of his office are filled with not just certificates of special courses he has taken which some dentists have, but many of his were for courses he instructs as well as awards in various areas of dentistry. Many of which were recent. I get the impression Dr. Rhoden is very much into his field and enjoys being at the top of it, to him it is not merely a job.
His Web site gives a lot of helpful information that will give you an idea of what he's all about:

This is the most consistently good by-the-slice pizza place I've eaten at in NYC proper. I've eaten here 100+ times and even on Sunday evening they don't have those dried up rubber Frankenpizzas you see at some other places.
Funny after going here for so long I had never tried anything else but the pizza. About a month ago my girlfriend ordered a spinach calzone ($4.95) and we split it. Now if you live in NYC you know you can pay $14 for a calzone at a lot of place, so already at under $5 Famous Famiglia is ahead of the game.
It was so good we could have fallen out of our chairs.
FF Calzone Secret (observational speculation): The calzone dough is folded to its recognizable shape and partially baked. So, when you order they cut it open, stuff it with mozzerella, ricotta, and in our case spinach, then bake that sucker for a little bit until it's done and delicous.
I can't really explain just how good it is. The shell alone was like eating a great loaf of freshly baked bread. You'll just have to try it yourself.
Highly recommended.

Very friendly service. Smiling, friendly dudes that checked back regularly and kept the water full :-).
First step pappadam (sp?) and the standard chutneys. These were so-so, the only thing I was disappointed by.
I ordered samosa of course (sorry I'm so boring) but it was great and I saw a couple things I have never seen before. 1) A big ring of raw onion looped over each of the two samosa, 2) Carrots and corn in the samosa, albiet in small quantity. But it was very good!! Very light and flaky, not greasy at all.
My main entree was Aloo [muttar] Gobi (again boring, I'm sorry), the mutter I concluded must be peas mixed in with the standard Aloo (potato) Gobi (cauliflower). It was great. At some restaurants this dish can be oily or greasy, at Shamrat it was light and fresh, and the vegatables where cooked just enough to still be crisp. The seasoning was great and the dish was just mildly spicy, as in hot.
Rice was good, and the naan was very fresh and in the crisper parts was lightly buttery.
Samosa, aloo muttar gobi, naan, water. $14.

I was walking in my 'hood just before dusk last night enjoying UES after it had rained all day. I love the photographic quality the buildings, trees, and streets have from from being wet.
Anway, coming back from near the park I walked passed the Ralph Lauren store on Madison @ 77th to see a very large video projection on the store window. So naturally I stopped to check it out.
As it turns out the display allows you to shop at the store 24/7 by way of a touch screen interface. The coolest part is that you could swipe your credit card right there on the spot to pay for your purchase.
I understand this is basically shopping online without being in the comfort of your own home, but I thought it was cool. There was a Ralph Lauren employee there to help us with any questions and or purchases. He told us he was off at 11pm and that there was someone coming to replace him until morning. He was a friendly kid and a whiz with navigating the menus.
Maybe I'm just a gadget dork, but I think this idea gives new meaning to window shopping and I could see it bringing in extra revenue for stores in popular tourist areas such as Times Square, and maybe even along CPS.

Our bill for three people w/ a bottle of wine was $58!
I had the Fettucine w/ lobster, crab, mussels, scallops, and clams and it was $13. Surely that would be $10 more at most other restaurants.
The restaurant is in a really cool location as well.
