Our family loves the Grand Rapids Children's Museum. I have two young children ages 3 1/2 and 1 1/2 and both enjoy it tremendously each time we go. We enjoy the museum so much we have held annual membership passes for the last two years. Their standard exhibits are usually the biggest hits with my kids. Both my kids Love the Shopping market, the volts wagon Bug to play in, bubble making stations, fire department and the camping exhibit each and every time we go. There are quite a few standard exhibits that are geared more towards older kids that we don't normally spent a lot of time on, such as the magnets, spinning wheel, mirror maze etc but I always see a ton of older kids playing with those. The traveling exhibits are always very nice and detailed...these tend to change about every 4-5 months. One thing nice about this museum that not all children's museums have is there is a section that is sectioned off more for the younger kids. THis section contains a kitchen / play food, A pretend garden where kids can 'pick vegetables' , mirror walls and other activities that rotate in there. The kitchen area is probably the most popular for my kids.
The museum is geared towards kids ages 2 & Up, and honestly my 3 1/2 year old is really just starting to enjoy all the exhibits. I have seen kids as old as 10 enjoying themselves while we are there. We normally spend 2-3 hours in the museum playing each time we go. Great for a rainy afternoon!!
