Second-hand smoke is disgusting; aggressive dogs need to leave; customers wonder if wi-fi is turned off to free up tables? 7/14/2008

To the Bouldin Creek Owners/Mgmt.: I mentioned these two situations to an employee today (Mon., Sept. 15, 2008). 1) Smoking. I know nothing can be done about the smoke coming from the other side of the building when the wind's coming from that direction, but please do something about smokers who stand not five feet outside the back porch door. I know they think they're being considerate by stepping outside, but the smoke comes right back in the screens, across all of us. Same with the front door. If there's no smoking within 15 feet of entrances, why is there a large ashtray right next to the front door? Why not move it 15 feet away? Bouldin Creek is one of my favorites, but I won't spend money there and I'll tell friends to avoid the place if the smoke problem is not fixed. Situation 2) Aggressive dog. I showed up today at 11:45 a.m. with my non-aggressive dog, and I wanted to sit on the front ""jail"" porch, but there was a man there with his dog, and the man told me his dog was aggressive and didn't like other dogs. Yes, I know I should have told the man, ""Your aggressive dog is not my problem,"" alerted the manager, and sat on the porch anyway, but there was plenty of room on the back porch and his dog was relentless (growling and snapping at my dog), so after making sure dogs are allowed on the back porch, I took the easy way out and sat back there. An easy fix: This could be added to the ""dogs must be on leashes"" signs: ""No aggressive dogs allowed. If your dog becomes aggressive, it must be removed from the premises."" As I said, I brought these situations to an employee's attention. If the problems are fixed, I'll raise the two-star rating I gave. Especially if the management teaches the staff how to keep the wi-fi working. (One customer told me employees act clueless when asked about it. Constant loss of wi-fi makes folks wonder if it's intentional...) This is 2008. At least one staffer needs to know how to work the wi-fi, or perhaps a wi-fi upgrade is in order. Pros: Great vegan food, relaxed ""people-watching"" place Cons: Cigarette smoke, an encounter with an aggressive dog, wi-fi frequently ""disappears"" more
