In response to a crazy travel and work schedule, my body started rebelling with lower back pain, headaches and mood swings the fall of 2007. I started accupuncture with Dr. Rhoda a few months ago, and I finally feel more "balanced." It's hard to explain this sense of well-being unless you regularly practice yoga/meditation, receive accupuncture treatment and/or exercise.
Initially I had reservations about being poked with needles, but Dr. Rhoda is really gentle and she always spends time listening to your ailments or what's going on with your body before beginning each treatment.
If you're looking to try accupuncture for the first time or are shopping for a new practitioner, check out Dr. Rhoda at East Bay Pain Care.
P.S. - This organization just moved into a new building so things may be a little chaotic. However, it's a fantastic space.
Pros: Great new office space and friendly staff
Cons: Parking - bring lots of quarters for the meters

This is a good place for my dog to go for a check up. The ceterinarian there is a perfect one. She seems to care about pets alot and she handles them very well. When my dog started limping I went to this location because it was very close to my home. She examined my dog and she put a cast on it for a few days and now my dog is very healthy.

A coworker recommended Dr. Hoh to me, as he'd gone to him for more than 10 years. He was right - Dr. Hoh is terrific! He is smart, thoughtful, and caring, as well as mindful of people's budgets. He fitted me with the best contacts I've ever tried in probably 15 years of formerly disappointing prescriptions. Then, when he offered to order them for me, I asked for the price, thinking, of course, that it would be much higher than I could get on those internet sources. (That had always been my prior experience - the optometrists' offices always charged at least 30% higher.) Surpisingly, the pricing was not only extremely competitive, he got them for me in a couple days at no extra charge so I could have them for a trip to Europe. AND he found a coupon that would give me roughly $40 off! Last night, I had trouble getting one of my contacts out, and was pretty sure it was still in there this morning as it was irritated and uncomfortable. I called today, a Friday, and Dr. Hoh worked me into his busy schedule so I wouldn't have to go through the weekend. He was so kind. I am recommending him to all my friends and coworkers, and to this service as well!

Dr. Horng Fan is a really smart guy and wonderfl with kids. I had a checkup with him last month and I had to bring my little cousin along and he seemed to love kids. He was very nice to my cousin and he even gave her a piece of candy to chew on while I was inside. The nurse there is also very cool and nice to talk to. The waiting is not long if you schedeuled the day before. I was in and out of there in less than 1 hour! Highly recommended to anyone around the neighborhood.

My family and I just got eye exams from the East Bay Vision Center, in Oakland (over at Harrison Street). We had a good time with the staffs who were very helpful to choose the eyewear for us. I am not in the eyeglass business nor their employees, so I don't know how much they price their frames over their cost. But we got very good deals and good qualities. The eyeglasses I got there has better price than a lot of different other places. Highly recommended. We will be there again. They open 7 days which makes my appointment easy, and pick up my frames in my convenience.
Pros: easy parking, accept my vision service plan,
Cons: very busy on Saturaday, make sure to call to make appointment they are busy to take walk in.

I love this place. It is a teeny little office on International, near the freeway, and the people are so nice. And, best of all, getting my cat neutered cost only twenty dollars. They didn't care that he wasn't in a carrier (on account of having broken it on the way over). On the other hand, when he came back to me he was not just tipsy (as they noted) but trembling with fear. It's normal for him when he leaves the house and it's possible that it didn't start till after I'd received him. And anyway - $20 spaying.

The Food Mill has two locations. This one, the original, is half natural foods and half supplements and bulk foods, and the natural foods part seems to be an afterthought. The supplements are incredible - they have good selection and good pricing. I've been able often to get my health needs met more cheaply and effectively here than anywhere else.
The new location is also on MacArthur, but much farther down near Broadway by the Kaiser building. That one is odd; it seems to be entirely natural foods, with some bulk but very few supplements. The oddest thing about it is that Kaiser advertises the "Food Mill Farm'acy" as if it was a Kaiser product, just because they apparently had the bright idea of convincing the business to come use that space. It bothers me; Kaiser is not at all alternative enough in their care to act all "natural foody," and in fact I suspect that the reason this location does not have many supplements may be because Kaiser doesn't want the competition. But hey, I could be wrong. Maybe they just wanted to sell people more food. Either way, I don't like Kaiser getting the credit when my Kaiser doctor will barely consider that a nutritionist might have a valid medical opinion. But that's more a problem with Kaiser than the Food Mill, although I do wish the latter would stand up and say "Quit acting like you invented us!"

I strongly recommend this clinic. They helped with my long standing back pain. I was educated and given precise instructions and my pain is greatly reduced. Their facility is the best I have seen and I have been to many clinics. Check out their website www.flexphysical.com
