Called about a new 2008 Civic. Considering that we are already 7 months into the 2009 model year, thought they would be willing to make a reasonable deal. I told them that I had over an hour drive, so I didn't want to waste my time if there wasn't a good chance of making a deal. I gave them my one and final out the door price. The sales person checked with the manager and they said the numbers looked good. The sales person said that there was over a 90% chance of making it work.
Well, after making the hour plus drive, and getting down to negotiating, they came up with a price $2500 more that the price that I told them on the phone that was my one and final offer.
Needless to say, it was a complete waste of my time and a 100 mile round trip. In these difficult economic times, you would think that dealerships would recognize that they need to be more customer oriented and stop the deceitful practices.
On top of everything else, they left a phone message for me at home asking to call them back because they had good news. Yeah, like I'm going to drive out there again when they've already proven that they are not honest in their negotiations
