Great unique toy store 10/5/2006

This store reminds me a lot of what I used to see living in Belgium--small boutique shops that carried well made, built to last, quality toys from small companies (and larger ones). And lots of toys made from wood! Not all that cheap plastic stuff that ends up in landfills---these are the types of toys your kids will pass on to their kids. The prices are definitely higher than other shops, but honestly, the selection and quality makes it worth it. more

Spendy but exquisite 3/17/2006

Honestly, I avoid even going into Clover. The toys are darling in that Germanic way that is the opposite of the crappy "planned obsolescence" of most toys. But do you really need to spend $30 for a felt pirate's hat for your nephew? And as for the clothes, I could probably commission my own designs to be produced for less than that. Great place to go for that one special gift, then get the heck out before you lose control. They do publish coupons here & there, which I approve of. more

excellent quality kids toys 3/2/2006

No more Babies R Us. Seattle has such great non-chain kids shops and this one is one of the best. High quality toys that are classics to last. Toys to inspire creativity and real play. Helpful staff. Beautiful clothes although I think those are pricey for little ones. I'll spend the $ on toys but not on clothes they'll fly though. more

Darling children's shop in Ballard 12/27/2005

Whenever I need a gift for my best friend's young daughter I head to Clover. Their selection of hand-crafted wooden toys from Germany, puzzles of all difficulties and lots more make this store the best choice for a children's gift you can feel good about. The kitchen toys alone have me hooked; they have little stainless steel pots and porcelain pie plates that can actually be used, plus kid-sized cooking utensils. Makes me wish I was a kid again! Clover also has beautiful, if expensive, clothing and wonderful baby gifts, plus everything you'd need to outfit a (very stylish) nursery. more

Expensive but quality toys 8/21/2005

Located on Ballard Avenue, Clover is too small to offer it all, but the toys and clothes that they do sell are very darling and quality items. They have a nice selection of the European Kathe Kruse dolls and puppets. They also have a lot of fun leaning games, art supplies, tea sets, costumes, toy boats, musical instruments, and other fine toys. more

Clover in Ballard: a great place for kids stuff 3/2/2005

Clover (in old ballard) is my new favorite kids store. It's great for gifts because they have both clothes and toys for a variety of ages. There isn't a big inventory, but what's there is of a high quality. For example, I love the petit bateau onesies (a splurge, but a nice gift) as well as the onsies with images of ghandi, einstein, and james brown. For older kids there are art supplies, legos, great t-shirts and games. Full disclosure - the owner is a friend of a friend and a very cool person who's good to support. more
