It's interesting how I read that folks have had a horrible time with the wait staff but each and everytime we go to Mashiko, they've always been courteous and professional. \r T...

Best Sushi 1/2/2006

Mashiko is my favorite place to go out to eat! I love everything that I have tried! It is easy to find parking in West Seattle and the atmosphere is very comfortable and laid back for a sushi restaurant. We usually have to wait, but you can leave your cell number and they will call you when a table or the sushi bar opens up. more

Not a cheap meal, but a GREAT one! 9/21/2005

I love sushi. I love sushi so much I would eat it for breakfast. I had heard all this talk about how great Mashiko's is, so one night I had to check it out for myself. Everything I had heard about it was true. They have a great menu with many things to choose from. Big on taste, not like the packaged super market sushi. Going with someone who doesn't like raw fish? There are plenty of items for them to choose from too. It is small,so be prepared for a wait at dinner, but it will be worth it. If you're looking for an exciting dinner- this is it. Every bite is FUN- what other food can you say that about? more

Not Your Japanese Uncle's Sushi Joint 8/18/2005

The staff and chefs take an irreverent approach to sushi (female sushi chefs!? It's about time!) to delectable heights. The old favorites are all there, but the maki creations that the Mashiko chefs have put together are absolutely outstanding. While I'm an old hand at sushi, Mashiko makes a difficult from many angles (figuring out what it is, getting over aversions once you know what it is) cuisine accessible to all but the most frigid of palates (and who wants to hang out with those unadventurous jerks anyhow?). Servers are friendly, knowledgeable, and patient. Prices are in line for excellent sushi in the region, but it won't be a bargain meal if you're not there for a light snack. more

Best Sushi 8/13/2005

I have tried every major, and most minor, sushi/japanese resturants in the Seattle/Bellevue area, and nothing really compets with Mashiko's on all levels. The fish is extremely good quantity and quality. The atmoshpere is much more relaxed and comfortable than most. I would go everday if I could afford it, but it's a much better deal than any other Sushi place. They rotate the artwork, which is refreshing for this genre of resturant. After going there once it's been my go-to-place when I want to impress someone who really knows food, but doesn't want the same old thing. BRAVO! more

Great Fish, Fun Creations, Best Chef Around 3/1/2005

We started going to Mashiko back in the olden days when we could saunter in any old time & get a seat at the sushi bar. We quickly became addicted to Hajime's excellent fish, fun creations, and offbeat sense of humor. I've eaten at nearly every sushi place in town and Mashiko puts them all to shame. (Nishino? Mashiko is so much more fun! Toyodo? Not even a contender!) The line is usually out the door on weekends. The service seems to always be a little space-cadety. But you can't beat it for great sushi and fun atmosphere. more

Excellent, non-traditional Sushi 6/18/2004

One of the funkiest places in West Seattle. The Sushi is awesome and it's almost always packed. The menu is huge as well because they make no effort to stay true to traditional Japanese fare. Where else can you get a roll that has asparagus, avocado, and sun dried tomatoes! Check out the menu and webcam at www.sushiwhore.com more
