If you're willing to splurge, and want a REALLY good cake, I highly suggest Whole Foods' bakery on Roosevelt. They've done a great job for me on custom cakes before. They're esp. good if you love high quality chocolate cakes or cakes for those with special dietary needs. The staff are always helpful, and if you give them a few days or a week's notice, they're able to whip up something extraordinary.
Hope this helps!

OK, this is the grail of chocolate in Seattle. Maybe even the west coast, or the U.S. Exquisitely perfect, obviously created by people for whom the preparation of chocolate is the highest and best purpose to which they can dedicate their lives. Yes, it's expensive... but it's supposed to be, dammit! Such ecstatic taste experiences should not come to us by the pound, but by the (irresistible, addictive) morsel. Don't leave without trying their smoked salt caramels... they won some kind of international award in New York, and they defy description. Knowing that this chocolate exists, you really can't give your lover any other kind.

Husky Deli is a local cornerstone. West Seattle families know and love the place where they can take their kids to have just like their parents did.
Their ice cream is made on site as well as their Waffle Cones. With a wonderful variety from Licorice to the classic Chocolate, one is sure to become a fan of fine quality ice cream.
The Deli provides an array of sandwiches, salads and other foods. They also cater for various events.

I can't tell you how much we love Macrina - it's one of the best we've found in the area and few Seattleites will disagree. It's fairly easy to get to - though I'd recommend finding what you want (on their website) calling in the order and then picking it up... Sometimes what they have on-hand can go quickly.

We purchased my daughter's 4th birthday cake from Borracchini's. It was one of the best, if not THE best cake I've ever had. I have been so use to getting supermarket cakes, that this cake was a welcome change. We were able to have Cinderella and the other Disney princesses put on the cake. I was extremely impressed with the service at Borracchini's! If you get a chance, also try their Pumpernickel bread :)

This little, somewhat undiscovered coffee shop/winebar/cafe is located on N. Capitol Hill, just across the street from Stevens school (17th and Boyer). They have the best double short Americano in town (for only $1.58), and very tasty, fresh baked goodies. Also wine tastings, and excellent paninni sandwiches. I hesitate to pass on this scoop as I don't want to have to wait in line for my daily cup of joe.

Great food, awesome service--I would never even consider using another caterer after the last event Tony's catered for me. It is clear that he cares deeply about making sure my guests have a great time and that allowed me to enjoy myself at my event. Thanks, Tony's!

If you crave for soup, salad, and, Soup Daddy is the place to go! It's kind of a New Yorkish deli where you line up at the counter, get your order in and wait for it on the side while it's being made in front of you! It's located in Pioneer Square and the place has decent seating but it gets really crowded during lunch! There is always a long line if you go there at noon. Their seafood gumbo and Caesar salad are awesome. They feature different soups daily so you never get the same kind every day! Their sandwiches are huge and tasty! I love the BLT and Tuna Melt there. Highly recommended!
