I went to her after another stylist at a different salon gave me an awful yellow and orange foil (no, that wasn't what I was trying to achieve!). My hair was pretty fragile at that point and she managed to fix it without trashing it. She is very skilled at haircuts as well so if you don't like to make appointments weeks in advance call in and place yourself on the list for her the day you want to go. If you are new to Rudy's the way it works is your name goes on a list and as soon as a stylist is available to seat you it is your turn. If you call in advance you at least get the stylist you like once their chair is open. Bambi is also very nice. A lot of the stylists are over the top at Rudy's but she is very calm and sweet. I haven't been back to see her simply because she works Monday - Friday the same hours I work! You won't be disappointed.

IMHO, the best haircut a man can get in seattle. i have been recommending it to friends, family and boyfriends for years, and everyone has said it is the best cut they have ever received.
what they are especially good at is those little things other barbers never seem to fix; my boyfriend complained that there was one area of his head where the hair always ended up being longer and sticking out in an annoying way. the first time he got his hair cut at valentine's, valentine explained why this was (something about the shape of his head) and then went on to make adjustments to the cut so that the hair wasn't longer there.
the space is really nice and comfortable and they offer you coffee as soon as you get in. parking can be difficult sometimes, but is way better than capitol hill or downtown. (and whoever thinks Greenwood is a "violent area" is crazy and sounds like they have a personal bone to pick.)
oh yeah, another thing most men don't get to experience but all love when they do, is the scalp massage (and don't worry, it is a girl that does it!) places like gene juarez charge twice as much for stylists who are not as well trained (especially in men's hair). i highly recommend you give it a try.

i used to go to $$ places to get my hair cut; believing that only professional stylists could give me a good cut......and then i foudn rudy's; a chain of walk in shops around seattle that hires good folk, has edge and is cheap (less than $20 for a h/c; under $10 if all you want is a strait buzz cut).

I have spent most of my adult life getting my hair cut by my friends and family, because whenever I go to a salon, I always get the cut that the hairdresser wants me to have. This is not so here! I walked in one Saturday and had to wait about a half hour but it was worth it. I can't remember the woman's name who cut my hair, but she did a great job. She asked me what I wanted, gave me suggestions, but in the end gave me the cut I wanted. As well, the price was reasonable. She was so nice, she gave me a bumber sticker. I saw one on her mirror and thought it was really funny, so she gave me an extra she had. How cool is that! I would definitely recommend popping into this Rudy's for your next cut.

we are allotted too little room on this site to properly review Scream, or Nikki, our stylist, so please do yourself a favor and go to other review sites such as city search or many others to read more on why you should see Nikki at Scream.

I've been a client of Chamaine's for 8 years and I would never go anywhere else for a cut and color! She does a wonderful job and doesn't "tsk-tsk" me when it takes me six months to make it back to the salon to get a hair cut.

I prefer the Fremont Rudy's (they seem to have the best peeps) but I would go to any of them in the city. I can get a stylish haircut for $22 (including a nice tip) and feel good for at least a month (I have short hair). Then I just come back.
My favorite barber is Lewis and he usually has a long line, but I don't care. It gives me time to walk around Fremont. The music is always interesting, which is nice too.

Dave, the proprietor, keeps you engaged as he cuts your hair. The cut is good, doesn't take much time and the price is right. And on the days you don't feel like talking, he respects that (unlike other barbers I've seen that can't stop talking).
I wish the timings were better though - they're not open on Sundays and they open at 10am on Saturdays, which is quite late. I end up going elsewhere because I want an early start on the day.
Overall, if you're in belltown and need a quick, no-hassles haircut, Belltown Barber is the place to go.
