I really enjoy dining at the Chicago Bagel Authority. The steaming process makes their sandwiches delicious. It really isn't a complaint but there are so many choices I find myself attempting to try new things every time I go there. Yesterday, I had the Bluegrass and it was fabulous.
Their staff is friendly and again, their menu is vast and diverse. Naturally, it can get crowded but it is worth it! On a summer day, there are some outside areas to sit down on the neighboring streets which can make for a quaint meal!!!

While I wouldn't classify Chicago Bagel Authority as my favorite bagel shop, I have to support the local bagel shops giving the national chains a little competition. What this place does have is an innovative approach towards the art of the bagel sandwich-- that is, they steam the sandwiches rather than toast them. They've also got a HUGE billboard of creatively named sandwiches; for people who have difficulty making up their minds (like me, I think...), it'll take you an hour to decide whether you want the "cheese monger" or "the royale." Give CBA a try!

The history of this little restaurant is almost as good as the food. They were almost shut down not long ago until somebody bought them and maintained everything in the way that it was. The menu of steamed bagel or submarine sandwiches is huge, with such amusing names as The Donkey Punch and the Tonya Harding Club. But really, I have never had such a delicious bagel sandwich in my entire life. I recommend the Royale with Cheese, the 20/20, or the Ritz. I haven't tried the rest of the menu, but there are about 200 choices. Delicious food, absolutely amazing. Also, for DePaul students on Wednesdays from 5pm-9pm, the bagels are buy-one-get-one-free.
