Wish's Club

Pros: It's close to home. Very nice wait staff. Cons: High cover. They tell you who to sit with. Drink minimum Expensive drinks. (a glass of tap water is $6) The place looks like my grandmother decorated it. Crowd is really old and cliquish. Bernard and Rosie are like 100 and need to let someone younger update and take over the place, it's a good location but it's outlived some of it's patrons. more

There is a reason Steak and Ale and Beniganns are no longer in Houston. The same should be said for Wish's. Wow talk about an outdated place. The crowd is 50 and up when and if there is a crowd. I don't care what any of the other reviews say this place is done. GO SEE FOR YOURSELF if you don't believe me. I am still in shock from my last visit. Could not get out of there fast enough. We heard this club was a great LS club (maybe in 1978 it was). It is out dated, the owner is like 90 and assigns you seats, with other people we didn't fit with...the group is older (50's +). The drinks are crazy priced and music was lame. This was the most boring,/expensive club we've been to. Usually you get what you pay for, in the case of Wishes, it shoud have been free. This was our first visit to Wishs and we were not disappointed. We sat with a great couple and enjoyed the music and conversation. NO it was not RAP music all night. I think there may have been 5 songs in 5 hours. They not only have music but the videos playing as well with most songs. The drinks were reasonable at around $8 each and were strong--they didnt skimp with the alcohol. Recommend to friends?? YES Its a great place for the 30 and over crowd music not too loud and Bernard and Rosie were very nice. This is probably the cleanest club I have ever been in and the attention to patrons and their club will certainly keep people coming back for more. A LOT of these reviews are old. Ok- so, here is what I got out of the night at Wish's. If you like rap - UR IN LUCK. Personally, I didn't so.....The crowd was mid 30's and (way) up!!! The club was very kitsche!! I thought that I had been transported back to the 70"s. I actually liked it. Very small and intimate. Lots of interesting characters throughout the night. Saturday's is couple's night, so maybe it is better on a different night. I saw a grand total of 3 good looking girls in my 1.5 hours at Wish's, although the waitstaff was a pretty cute lot. My wife and I stumbled upon Wish's not knowing what a "couples club" really was. We were just looking for a place for a date night of dancing free of single, college-age kids looking to get drunk and rowdy. It was truly enjoyable - nice, clean, classy club full of mature, interesting, friendly people. Although we weren't there to participate in the "lifestyle," people were still very friendly. The owners are nice folks. There was nothing weird or creepy about it, and absolutely no pressure to do anything we didn't want to do. It's a place where couples can focus on each other if they want to, and women can dress provocatively for their husbands in a um - stimulating - environment. The cover and drink minimum are high, but it keeps out the riff-raff, so we didn't mind. I suspect many of the people there participate in the lifestyle but that a sizeable minority do not. We go once or twice a year when we need a special, exciting date night. more

I have been to this bar many times It's fine as long as you don't make any mistakes. The owners and staff are unforgiving. The cost is just not worth it. The drinks are watered down. There is defiently an "in" crowd. If you are not in it, things will not go your way. It used to be a relaxed and fun place. I have found it now to become snobby and not fun at all. They make you have drinks, but you can forget enjoying your buzz. If you don't mind being watched like a hawk by the staff and not beng able to really enjoy yourself then by all means this is place for you. Otherwise, I would go somewhere els. We have often been to this club and always have found the crowd to be outstanding, friendly, outoing and classy. You won't find the trailer-park or the young "gotta be seen" crowds here. The music is great dance music, not a constant stream of techno-dance or hard core hip-hop, just great fun and sensual dance tunes. The best part of this club is the service! In an industry where many clubs either go BYOB or couldn't care any less whether or not you ever come back, the wait staff treats you as if you are their only customer for the evening, catering to your every need. Let's face it when you go out for an evening of fun and dancing, you want to make sure the money you spend will pay-off with a great time. This place is the real deal and you don't have to buy a membership, a cover charger and then STILL have to haul in a brown paper sack or an IGLOO cooler held together with silver duct tape in so that you can have a cocktail or a cold beer. I guess some people call that fun but defnitely not us. Do yourself a favor and spend an evening you'll remember and go to Wish's some Saturday night. the owners and staff greeted us at the door, they were very friendly. the place has a nice atmosphere to it. very clean and smoke is not a problem. the crowd ranges from late 20's to 60's with the majority in the 40's. service is very good. drink prices are a little high. the people were all very nice and polite. the music selection could of been better but it got going good as the night went on. We dropped in Wishs after years of hearing what an awesome club it was. We have to tell you that it is by far the greatest club and couples clubs in Houston! We will go back over and over again. From thr interior, to the incredible service, first class wait and bar staff, to the super friendly clientel! We rate this club a perfetct 10! I'd pay 20 dollars anyday to keep out undesirables. The drink minimums are there for a reason, to keep out bar hoppers. Couples at Wish's are there for a reason, to meet and get to know other couples. Bernard and Rosie are rare club owners as far as I'm concerned. No other club have I meet the owners, chatted and got to know them. They seat you for a reason, to introduce you to the people that are there, and if you want to move, all you have to do is ask. We are looking forward to the expansion. Waitstaff are very attentive, my drink never runs dry. People who say bad things about this place don't need to be there anyway. Warm friendly and the sexiest patrons in Houston. Bernard is old school service and maners. Go for a eye full or the full monty it is up to you. $15.00 cover and a five drink mim. is a bit much but it keeps out the riftrafe. Pros: sexy, fun, dress to kill more

Got taken for my birthday on Aug 31. Once the music got going and the dancing started, it was one of the best night's I can remember. The atmosphere was fantastic - incredibly relaxed yet still charged with some sparks. Friendly (!) people made it especially memorable. And the birthday dance with all the girls was something I'll never forget. If the girl with the dark hair who tried to take my shirt off reads this, drop me a line... Go there, just leave your pretensions at home! more

The five-drink minimum -- which seemed daunting at first -- was in fact very handy, as one look at the dance floor made me realize I needed as much Dutch courage as I could get... How they managed to create such a family atmosphere at such a naughty club is beyond me, but it absolutely worked. They make sure they know your name, and treat nervous first-timers like me, like an old friend. And did I mention how... hot it got in there? Whew... more

This club will defintly put the spark back into your marriage, and not only for one night either. Its amazing to see so many people just relaxing and enjoying themselves, you must go with an open mind. more

In reference to the citys hottest dance club. Weve been going to Wishs Club for about five years, because of all the dance night clubs in Houston, Wishs is our favorite. The trick to Wishs is to make reservations or go early, about 9 ish. Wishs Club has a mature, well dressed, beautiful crowd and great dance music, thanks to DJ Ray. DJ Ray starts the evening music with a get acquainted atmosphere, oldies, mo-town, light cross-over western. As the night continues Ray picks up beat with top 40 s danceable music, several Latin cuts, and of course mixing in a slow song or two for a change of pace. This makes a great wide variety of music for great dancing, no rap stuff, thank you very much. more
