Love This Place 4/18/2008

Not only is the food amazing at Vincenti but so is John. Vincenti was just named number 7 in the ""75 Best Restaurants in Los Angeles"" issue of Los Angeles Magazine and Number 1 in the article ?The 20 Best Italian Restaurants in Los Angeles? written by Jonathan Gold for LA Weekly. There is no place like it outside of Italy. I have to completely disagree with the reviewer about John. I mentioned to a friend recently that John was working at Vincenti and his comment was ?having John run your dining room would be like having Picasso paint your living room?. We all love John, Maureen and the staff at Vincenti. Pros: Pizza on Monday's more

Warmest Reception and Best Italain Cuisine in Town 2/25/2008

Easily the best Italian restaurant in the city. Chef Nicola's menu is the most modern interpretation of classic Italian cuisine. His fish are all incredible. Don't skip the pasta or risotto...perfectly sauced, perfectly al dente. I've even seen Giorgio Baldi and other restaurateurs here on Mondays when their own places are closed. Maureen is warm and so hospitable, and honestly seems to care about her clients. Unlike the other poster, I find John at the door really gracious and professional, constantly looking to enhance the diner's experience. The rest of the staff is attentive without being stuffy. Pizza on Monday is the best in town...crisp, charred crust, thin and topped with great ingredients like burrata and zucchini flowers. Love eating at the bar. The bartenders are friendly and pour an amazing martini. Best bet for friends in town from Italy or New York. Never Disappoints! Pros: Amazing Pasta, Friendly Staff, Professional Service Cons: Noisy at Peak Hours more

Great food, not such a warm welcome 12/3/2007

We have been devoted regulars of Vincente since as long as we can remember. Even if the food wasn't always perfect, but always well above average, we did not notice or care because of the warmth received from Maureen and her loyal staff. I don't know if it's because of a change in management but the last couple of times we have visited Vincente it just did not have that welcoming feel. We walked in the door both times to be greeted, rather uncomfortably, by a stiff and slightly snobbish middle age gentlemen. I do not know if he is new management or just a host but his attitude seemed to infect the whole restaurant. Even our normally witty and bubbly waitress seemed to be working at attention. That being said, the food remained consistent. Any of the fresh pasta's are a must try and the perfectly cooked dover sole or branzino are both light enough to eat as a main course while still having room for dessert. Pros: food, drinks Cons: snobbish host more

Terrific! Everything was Great! 10/27/2007

Delicious food, great service. It was not crowded so I did not notice the noise issue that other reviewers mentioned. We had the duck appetizer, lamb, steak, and pasta with mushrooms and crab. Mille feuille was amazing. The cannoli dessert was good, but not my favorite. If you get there early, there is street parking. Next time I think I will try the $75 six course tasting menu. more

A warm family party every time you enter- Food you'll be talking about all week- Watch the Chefs in ACTION while you eat!!!!!! 10/2/2007

Consistently perfect in every category...Pizza is the BEST -- light and AUTHENTIC like the pizza you get in italy. Also, I was not a big fan of seafood until i tried vincenti's amazing seafood salads, lobster pastas, WOW. Everything is good. more

Consistently Amazing 2/14/2007

Still serving terrific food, and the Monday pizza night is a great addition. Unobtrusive service and terrific wine list. Pros: Highest-quality Italian, Ambiance Cons: I don't make it to Brentwood enough! more

disappointed 11/20/2006

The place is more of a scene due to the location that a restaurant for a serious meal. The food is average, but the price attached is outrageous. The service comes with attitude. To top it of the place gets so loud that you cannot hear anything. You can do much better with Italian food in the city. Cons: loud, expensive, bad service, average food. more

Best Fish Ever~Amazing Service too! 6/9/2006

Went on a Saturday night. Vincenti was the best italian I've had in a long time. I liked La Terza, but this place was 10 times better. The host was warm and friendly. The service was excellent. It's hard to get great service in LA with its trendy restaurants, but I must say that everything our waiter recommended was truly superb. The place is crowded and bustling but they are extremely acommodating. Wine list had some excellent picks. Fish was fresh, wild caught, and imported from the Med with creative sauces/seasonings. If you like Seafood or Classic Italian, I highly recommend Vincenti. Pros: Service, Food, Prompt Cons: um, Nothing! more

teh food quality not so good 5/1/2006

food quality is not so good, but the ambience is nice and the service is one of the best in the industry Pros: service, ambience, accesibility Cons: food, italian food, parking space more

Anyone who REALLY knows italian food... 10/28/2005

Anyone who claims they really know italian food will be blown away by Chef Nicola. Fish is shipped in daily from the mediterranean. Everything is of the highest quality, from Maureen Vincenti's warm laugh at the door to the exquisite dinner to the kind and knowledgable wait staff. If you're looking for cliche italian food and someone to sing That's Amore- go somewhere else. Vincenti is the real deal. Pros: food food food, service, wine list Cons: loud when crowded. more

Great Food - if you could hear yourself talk 10/25/2005

The diverse range of specials and food were wonderful. Went for dinner on a Friday night, and greatly enjoyed the experience. Unlike other reviews, had no problems with service -- and I'm picky. Was able to get lemon and lime for my water, quick food service. Food was boxed for us. Everything was served in a timely way. The biggest con is what other reviewers have said. You can barely hear yourself or others talk. Having read the other reviews, I was in the back room, at a back corner table, and I still had to raise my voice to have a conversation (which is the point of dinner, right?). The wine list has an excellent selection of wines . . . but the prices are a little much. 9.99 (retail price) bottle of Chianti Classico, was $14.00 by the glass. Pros: diverse food selectio, good wine list Cons: wine price, too loud more

Vincenti the best 1/20/2005

I am italian and to me Vincenti is really the best Italian Restaurant in LA and even better than many Italian restaurant in Italy!!!!! more

Vincenti - November 2004 1/3/2005

Using city search as our sole guideline, we invited a fellow Angeleno couple to join us for a celebratory dinner at Vincenti with great anticipation since the ratings were so high. Much to our disappointment, this restaurant is lacking in service (from hostess to wait staff) and even more so in food (price is high for the average quality). LA has a wide range of wonderful Italian eateries and Vincenti is not one of them. Pros: St or valet pkg, Private dining rm Cons: , Poor service, Expensive for quality more

Disappointing experience 10/31/2004

Overated and overpriced!! We had five people and cost us $550. One male waitor was firstly reluctant to seat us at a corner table, then got mad when we gave average tips and even argued with us!! A noisy and crowded place, not romatic at all. The valet parking cost another $4.50. In all, a disappointing restaurant looking to rip you off!! Pros: Food OK Cons: , Environment, Over-priced more

finally tried vincenti 6/29/2004

went there last month with my whole family, very nice looking restaurant, love the brentwood neighborhood, not the standard italian food you would usually eat, wonderful food nonetheless, wonderful wonderful service, i would come back for sure. if go at night time, a little hard to find..? (as no big conspicuous sign that says Vincenti) Pros: good food, good service, decent price more

CREATIVE MENU - GREAT FOOD 8/2/2003

A very creative menu from Chef Nicola Mastronardi - a no non-sense chef who knows his stuff. Lovely handmade pastas, wonderful wood fired grilled meats, the Porchetta - wow! Definitely a special occasion restaurant. So take the chefs tasting menu at $70.00 for 6-8 courses is quite the deal (apps, entrees, delicious cheese plates to dessert). I took friends from Milan and Rome here - they were in awe that this restaurant is even here and it serves food of such high quality - they were quite impressed and thought it much better than Angelini or Valentino. We came back the next night and sat at the bar and had perfect icy Martinis, and noshed on the calamari, cheese plates with the homemade conserves, and a little quail salad with grapes. Fun place to people watch! Pros: wonderful chef, great regional food, private dining rooms Cons: noise level when busy more

Stick with the Starters 3/12/2003

Eating here with my girlfriend, we found the entrees to be the weakest link. I ordered the sea bass (nothing special) and she ordered the duck (fatty and tough). The calamari with tartar sauce was excellent, and the spinach ravioli stuffed with squash was divine. Dessert was also fantastic: strawberry napoleon and tiramisu. Our server was also extremely friendly and helpful. Pros: excellent appetizers, desserts, staff Cons: entrees more
