Best

Want the real thing? If you do, drive past the drive thru at Starbucks and other national or regional ""fast-coffee"" type shops.

I've been going to Victors for almost a decade and I've had my up and downs with the place. The staff has always been friendly and conversational with me. I've had some run in...

Victor's Coffe Company 10/27/2008

Absolutely TERRIBLE Customer Service. Employees act like they HATE their jobs. Company refuses any bankcard and check..cash only. Lots of flies. Filthy. Their iced pumpkin spice lattes taste awful!! Save your money!! more

Kinda snotty 9/16/2008

I had heard some good things about this independent coffee house so I made the quick walk on a beautiful Saturday morning to check it out. The coffee was ok. The atmosphere is cozy but the customer service was really lacking. In coffee shopws like Starbucks and Tullys, the baristas are friendly and smile at you - they look like they enjoy what they are doing. The service at Victor's doesn't look twice at you and don't offer friendly welcoming smiles. more

What's the hype 8/12/2008

I don't know what the hype is about this place. Service is slow and the place is a mess. All the tables are sticky and the floor is sticky too. The coffee is ok tasting, it just didn't do it for me. Maybe it's just different taste. more

Owner intimidating women he thinks are alone 11/11/2007

I was just at Victors with a friend. We ordered our coffee, and I walked to the restroom just in time to hear the owner go to my female friend and a little abrasively tell her that he has a time limit and she needed to leave. I went on my way knowing that my friend would clear up his mistake since we had just ordered. When I came back from the restroom about a minute to two minutes later. I saw my friend walk up and tell him "We had just ordered, but that was extremely uncalled for so we wont be coming back". She walked out and he followed her out screaming at her! He caught up and blocked her car door while he continued to scream at this 110 lbs female. She couldn't open the door and get in the car until I got there and drew his attention away. Intimidating a petite young woman who he thought was alone is unacceptable. What a bully! I will never go back. more

Asked to leave after 1 hour 3/31/2007

I was recently enjoying a leisurely Saturday morning with a friend, catching-up over steamy cups of espresso at Victor's Celtic Coffee Co in downtown Redmond. Our pleasant morning ended abruptly when we were informed by the owner that they "needed our table (because) there are customers waiting". Apparently 2 cups of coffee at $3.50 per cup only buys you one hour of table time at Victor's. Sure, the coffee house was busy. But my expectations in visiting a coffee house is to be able to sit, relax, enjoy my cup of coffee, visit with friends or enjoy my book or newspaper, and enjoy the aroma of the espresso. I am a supporter of individual coffee houses and restaurants. I love the individuality and "small town feel" and had frequently recommended Victor's coffee house to friends and co-workers. It saddens me that I will now be rescinding those recommendations and going elsewhere for my coffee dates. more

Great coffee, bummer about the owner. 9/15/2006

Victor's used to be a part of the standard morning routine for both me and my wife. I'm sure we've spent thousands of dollars there over the years. The owner, Walter, was invariably rude and pushy, without a glimmer of customer service in his body. But we put up with him because we liked the coffee and the staff and the atmosphere. But after an experience where Walter was rude to my wife (easily one of Victor's most loyal and enthusiastic customers) and kicked her out of the restaurant, we haven't been back. Since then, I've heard numerous similar stories from other (former) customers. I can only hope that either (a) word will get around, business will drop off, and Walter will be forced to sell the business to somebody that cares about customer service; or (b) Walter will apologize. If either of those happens, we're back in a second. But I expect that the first is more likely than the second. more

Victor's serves good coffee and waffles... 8/9/2006

Whenever I am on the east side of the lake, I know finding a good coffee is going to be hard. However, Victor's does a mean cup of your favorite "specialty" coffee. They have a lot of variations up on their board, like the tangerine mocha or such. That's nice, but I love a good cappuccino and they do them well, and they are the only decent coffee house for miles and miles as far as I know. The place sometimes feels more like Missoula than Redmond/Seattle, due to the wood cabin decor style, the more casual college-town feel and the porch-like deck out front. On weekends, try Walter's famous waffles too. Not like those tasteless dry things that pass for waffles in most restaurants in the US, these are much closer to the wonderful treats I used to get growing up in Europe. I think Walter is Swiss, which would explain that. Yummy. [An odd aside: While in Cannon Beach, OR, haphazardly I went to a coffee place run by the "Victor" namesake and his wife, who sold the place to Walter but still supply the roasts.] more

Victor's Celtic Coffee Company 6/2/2006

It isn't the prettiest place, but it definitely has character, definitely isn't 'a chain', it's that cabin where I used to go to summer camp. The drip coffee isn't much to write home about, but their espresso drinks amaze some people because they go beyond the typical options. They have sandwiches, and more pastry options than most coffee shops. My only gripe is that the painfully territorial owner used to be rather cranky when he would show up on occasion and although I've heard that he has eased up I haven't by nearly as much as last year. more

Best coffee Redmond 12/8/2005

Victor's coffee is one of my all-time favorite coffee shops. It seems as if it has been there forever, and it has such a quaint little atmosphere. It is nothing like the typical places like Starbuck's or Tullys. My favorite drink is the Java Jane, which is basically a caramel mocha, with chocolate whip creme. They have lots of other great coffee creations too. The staff are always warm and friendly. They have great food too! Really yummy grilled panini sandwiches, my favorite is the turkey panini! If you're looking for a place with great coffee and a great atmosphere, then Victor's is the place to go. more

Best coffee on the Eastside 8/16/2005

Victor's is one of the best places for coffee on the Eastside. The coffee is great, and the baristas always take the time to make a perfect espresso. The atmosphere is very relaxed and comfortable. The mis-matched tables and chairs look like farmhouse antiques, and local artists are displayed on the walls. It's a good place to read a newspaper or meet a friend. Victor's also has a shelf with games, if you're in the mood to play checkers or Scrabble. It's the ideal neighborhood coffee house. The bread pudding (warmed with whipped cream) and chocolate cake are definitely worth a try. The cafe is open til 11pm on Friday and Saturday nights. There's live music in the evenings on weekends, and the place is usually packed then. My only complaint is that they aren't open later during the week. more

Coffee house you would not find in Redmond Area... 5/7/2005

This coffee house was one of my favorite place before I moved from the east side to the west side. Victor's coffee house crowd would make me almost forget that I AM in the east side, which was enough reason to keep me there, but their coffee is also very good so I would regulary stop by there on the way to work even though I get free coffee at work. Now that I am in the west side, I haven't gone to this place, but I am sure that things are still pretty much the same. more
