I stopped by Underhills in summer when they had what appears to be an annual outdoor furniture sale. They were offering Adirondack chairs with foot rests for about $70. I've seen these chairs go on websites and at specialty patio furniture stores for over $200 so I stopped by.
The chairs I saw outside were all nicely painted in bright colors and assembled. The chairs Underhills was selling were actually unassembled and unpainted. I placed the order for the chair inside the store--the sales people were pretty friendly and approachable--and was able to drive to their warehouse to pick up the box. It was immediately available, and I loaded it up and took it home.
At home I was able to stain the unfinished wood. My husband did have to help assemble the chair , and it was fortunate he did so, because their instructions were backwards. However, we have a nice Adirondack chair for a pretty good price, it was quicker than trying to build it ourselves, and I would definitely buy another unassembled one from them.
