This is probably the worst sushi place in San Diego. I gave it several tries, because everyone has an off night, but no, it's just really bad. The people who gave it good reviews must just not know what sushi is. For really good sushi, look at Sushi Ota, or Hane Sushi. If you're more into fusion than traditional, you can't go wrong with Japengo's. For decent mediocre Sushi, try Domo Sushi in Santee. Another pretty good place is in Tierra Santa, I can't remember the name, but it's right off of the 52 on Santo, and they have the most stuffed hand rolls I've ever seen.
Toro on the other hand will lie to you about the quality of the fish (yellowtail should not smell and taste very fishy), the service is non existant, and if you get a piece that isn't good, they'll still make you pay for it! Like I said, I'm willing to allow that some places have off nights, but to me, 3 strikes and you're out!
