Todai 4/16/2006

We recently took my mother there for her birthday. They offer a free meal to the birthday person if you go on the exact. (although we didn't go on the exact date so no free meal). The food is decent. Theres a big selection of sushi, seafood, several salads, many desserts. My favorite is their fresh crepe station. I have them make it with bananas and strawberries and extra extra powder sugar. The service is ok. They charged me full price for my kid. When I asked about it, they said 'oh, isn't see over 5ft?' . We went over to measure and it turned out she was close, but not quite, even with the thick soles on her tennis shoes. Seems to me, they should ask, or actually measure before they charge the full adult price. When I asked them to fix it, they asked if they could just offer a free meal for next time instead of refunding me my money. No thanks. So then we had to wait about 20 minutes while they figured out how to void the transaction. If they had just measured first, there would have been no problems. more

Todai's Seafood and Sushi Buffet 4/14/2006

Todai’s Restaurant is known for its wide assortment of sushi and seafood. This place offers a little bit of everything, from hot foods such as chow mein and teriyaki chicken to cold foods such as raw oysters and fresh snow crab legs. This place has everything imaginable; Todai’s even offers a crepe station where it is cooked to order as customers can top it off with fruit and other desired fillings. Not to mention the soup station where hot broths are always cooking that you can add noodles too. The price is a tad bit expensive as lunch prices can go from $15 to dinner prices about $25-$30. This is not your ordinary buffet as the staff is there to cater to your every needs. Friendly people, great food, and a comfortable atmosphere is what this restaurant prides in itself. This place has always been one of my all time favorites so why not go and check it out more

It is all you can eat, but... 4/13/2006

I've been conflicted about this for a while. Yes, you can get all you can eat crab legs at Todai's, and each meal comes with a tiny lobster tail. However, is it really worth the cash that you have to shell out to get in the door. I mean, how many crab legs do you have to eat? Besides that, there is not much there to pull me. Granted there's lots of sushi, but they're okay... And I do like the dessert bar--I mean the mini creme broulee are too cute. But, is it worth it? On the plus side, I think you get your meal on the house on your birthday. But be prepared to show some ID. more

It gets worse each time I go 12/29/2005

when i first went there, the food was FANTASTIC!!! i loved it so much.. especially the deserts. the tiramisu was SO GOOD and unlimited servings of lobster. second time i went, still had the deserts but the food wasn't as good. then the following times, it totally disappoints me. the food was not fresh. you could tell the food has been in the fridge and was not freshly made. they limited the servings of lobster. only one per person which sucked. they didnt have tiramisu anymore and there were less variety of deserts. i think the only food that was good there was the sushi, crepes, deserts (even tho theres less variety), and the udon. those were pretty good. i think for the price u go in for, its totally not worth it cause if u want sushi, u could just go to an actual sushi restaraunt and get some better food. more

bang for the buck 8/6/2005

todai in daly city is a great place to eat if you are looking for decent food at a reasonable price. having been there 3 times i must say that although the food is not great it is also not bad either. there is a wide selection of asian style food such as sushi, chicken katsu, as well as many other different types of japanese cuisine. however todai also contains foods such as crepes where there are chefs waiting to serve you. the dessert section contains some delicious pasties as well. the resturant is quite big and does host parties. there is also free parking at the parkinglot. it is a great place to eat before or after you watch movies at the 20th century theaters right next door. overall it is good resturant that i would recommend. more

Buffet with limit lobster offer 8/6/2005

This buffet restaurant has variety of foods to choice. They have many kind of sushi, chinese food, etc. The food I love to eat there are the crepe and many kind of dessert at the dessert bar. They make the crepes right in front of you and you have a variety of toppings to choose from such as banana, strawberry, wrap cream, etc. The cost is like $20 for lunch and $30 for dinner after tax. Some people like it and some people don't because it seem expensive. Before they give out lobster, they have limited for each table now. They only give half lobster for each person and it is only for the weekend, so the best time to go is weekend. I guess the people don't like todai anymore is because they have the policy for limit lobster now. Anyway, I think it worth a try. more

Buffet Heaven 7/14/2005

I love Todai even though I've been there only once (if i lived closer, i'd be there all the time). Their sushi bar is unbelievable (it's so huge). That was the first time I actually tasted sushi and liked it. I love their California rolls and Philadelphia rolls (plus they make everything right in front of you). Next, I went to the main course place where their seafood, fried rice, and noodles were awesome. I can't forget the egg rolls. One mistake you can easily make at Todai is not leaving enough room in your stomach for the crepe and dessert bar. They make the crepes right in front of you and you have a variety of toppings to choose from. The dessert bar - well that's a whole different story. I seriously felt like I was in Paris standing in front of that bar. It's like too good to eat all those yummy cakes. more
