rivals Taco Bell 4/18/2007

There are two classes of mexican restaurants. Ones that serve pico de gallo and ones that don't. Restaurants that you want to go to serve it, and taco bell and Tia Juana don't. Save your money and go to Taco Bell. It will taste better. Everything I put in my mouth except the SALT was disgusting. Tasteless, tortillas were dry, tasted like flour, rough, and unspecial. We ordered one beef burrito and beef tacos. The beef was in big chunks and they used a bad cut for $8 and $10. it's just not worth it. The service sucked as well. \r Pros: parking, margaritas Cons: plastic table cloths more

Tortillas are great, good food 11/28/2006

I have always seen this place driving by but never would have thought to try it until some recommended it to me. One of the better Mexican restuarants I have been to. The tortillas are hand made and they are great. The food is just as good in my opinion. Pros: Tortillas, Food, Good value more

Best Mexican Food in the LA Metropolitan area 8/21/2006

I lived in the Los Angeles area for about 17 years and lived in the San Diego area for about another 4 years. I consider Tia Juana the best Mexican Food Restaurant in the whole LA metropolitan area and one of the best restaurants all together. It is not just the food, which is delicious, but also the ambience, created by an staff of people (beginning with the owner) that dedicate to make your visit there an special moment with great service, plenty of smiles, and of course great margaritas). I presently live in Arizona and make monthly trips to the LA area and I never miss an opportunity to have lunch or dine there. Pros: Great food, friendly atmosphere, not far from the ocean. Cons: It can get crowded on weekend nights more

Good handmade tortillas, ok food 5/2/2006

The food varies between ok and good, but the handmade (in front of you) tortillas are definitely quite good. I think that's kind of their ""thing,"" honestly. You can get your standard, authentic-style Mexican fare, but I'd have a beer instead of a margarita. Pros: Tortillas, Authentic Food Cons: Margaritas more

very greasy 4/3/2006

I am from texas and LOVE mexican food. I got two chicken tacos and the chicken was very greasy and dark. The margaritas are well priced and ok. Paco's taco's is healthier and better atmosphere Pros: rice, margaritas Cons: grease more

do not even bother 9/23/2005

This place has to have the worst mexican food after Gilbert's. I will not even go back for the handmade tortillas. You want good mexican food go to Lares or El Torito Grill. I had the beef burrito and besides being bland and cold it only had 2 pieces of beef. Pros: tortillas, cheap, hole in the wall Cons: bland food, food serve cold, bad service more

best mexican food in this area!!! 8/16/2004

by far, my favorite mexican restaurant in the LA area! food is delicious and fresh! there's a working tortilla-making stove in the center of the restaurant with an adorable woman making fresh tortillas that come to you in a mini tortilla basket! they're to die for! the service is fantastic and quick, they always make you feel at home. go here if you're looking for simply wonderful, authentic mexican food! highly recommend! Pros: fresh food, service, value more

go to eat, not to be seen 2/16/2004

Great place for food and margaritas. No trendy bar, not the kind of place you go to to be seen, just to eat and have a good time. The tortillas are made as you ask for them and the drinks are great. Pros: food, margaritas Cons: , small dining space more

Great Food! 5/21/2003

The guacamole is soooo FRESH, the house margarita is STRONG, the food is GREAT... What more could you ask for?!?!?! Pros: Inexpensive, Good service more

Home-Style! 5/11/2003

I'm always looking for home-style mexican food in an effort to match my mother's home food. Well, this is not even close ... but it's about the closest you can get! The hand-made tortillas are good and they even have things like chorizo. It's not all that great, but it's something you won't find at your local El Torito or Acapulco restaurants. The ambience is cozy, situated in a small restaurant. The parking lot is also small, but I haven't experienced any trouble. The prices are fair. I go here with a friend of mine often and it's perfect place to have both good food and at atmosphere conducive to conversations (not too quiet, not too loud). Pros: Hand-made Tortillas, Flan more

Tortillas made in front of you 10/26/2002

Another Haro Family resturant, they are known for their amazing mexican food in the santa Monica Area. They have their own tortilla lady who makes fresh tortillas in front of you on a hearth in the center of the resturant. The ambiance is romantic, and the food is even better. Pros: homemade Torillas, hole in the wall, amazing food more

Tortilla Heaven 10/26/2002

This restaurant is worth travelling to LA for. The unassuming location and atmosphere is a refreshing change from the LA trendy hot spots, plus this place has good service and the great food keeps you coming back again and again. Those homemade tortillas are to die for!! Pros: inexpensive, easy to park more

... from a real Mexican 10/25/2002

This place is true home cooking. I love the hot hand-made corn tortillas and the Albondiga soup. Everything is great!!! more
